I honestly hate to rate anywhere this low, as Im really not just trying to be mean, but Pearls Diner is really gross. Its food straight out of a can, and super bland, or possibly over salted, depending on what you order I guess. Ive been here a few other times, mostly for breakfast. This time was for dinner, and it was every bit as...not good....as I remembered. I do want to say, our waitress was amazing and a perfectly polite angel. The food, however, was pretty bad. I ordered the chicken fried steak which comes with mashed potatoes and a vegetable - I got corn, and a bread of your choice - I got a biscuit. The sweet waitress wanted to know if I wanted brown or white gravy. I chose white, even though Im not sure what kind of gravy the brown kind is...is it beef? Well never know... its just brown. Yum? Anywho, the white gravy is actually tan, and it tastes every bit like dirty oil and burned pig fat. Ick. Plus it is way too salty. The corn was swimming in buttery water. The potatoes were okay but bland, except the parts that were covered in that dirt gravy. The fried steak was of the frozen, and then gratuitously overcooked, variety. I think my biscuit was having an existential crisis, because it just could not keep it together. On a side note: my husband ordered the bacon burger and fries. The burger was giant, which is good...but the patty itself was the weirdest, almost square, stiff, formed shape. And when he bit into it, the meat didnt crumble or juice like real ground beef might, it sort of flaked off in rubbery chunks. It was definitely some sort of frozen mystery meat/salisbury steak sort of thing...NOT a ground beef patty like most hamburgers are. So, aside from the awful decor, dirty, sticky tables, and strange mismatched silverware, Pearls has horrible food. And we had a good waitress this time, but some of the other ones are rude redneck women who are generally offensive to all of the senses. Dont eat at Pearls everyone! Unless you like overcooked cafeteria food, then go for it!

so you walk in, the front was nice, Very misleading. They sat us down in a booth the seats still had food crumbs that we was sitting on, flies flying in my face, and the upholstery was cracking and tearing. The services were ok, fast and prompt, But forget asking for anything because they only had one waitress in the whole place, After you get your food you get your bill. The pancakes were hard, the home fries tasted like crap, the steak is not a steak, have no clue what type of meet it really is because well done steaks are not a pink color, the sausage patties were nasty, biscuits and grays were hard and taste weird, Goetta had really hard pieces in it, eggs are good, toast tasted like they used stale bread, and I think that is all we got. I do not know how their lunch and dinner taste like but I will not go back to find out.

My experience at Pearls Diner was simply amazing! As a Muslim American I was afraid so I didnt wear my hijab and I also called ahead to see if they could accommodate my diet. I called and the young lady whom answered the phone was very polite and when I got there I was so welcomed. The restaurant made me feel right at home in Alabama where I am from. I will say that in this day and time to go to this restaurant was very refreshing. The atmosphere was great! The waiters seemed to get along and they were so kind and not in a rush. The food was delicious, that is what gave me the southern feel. Thank you to the beautiful people who served me. I will definitely bring my husband next time.

Our food was great and bring your appetite because you get a lot of food. I had the roast beef dinner and there was more roast beef than you usually get in 3 such dinners elsewhere. Bob Evans should get the Pearls mashed potatoes recipe as Pearls puts Bob to shame. The salad bar even had great pinto beans soup which went great with the cornbread. Service was friendly and attentive and our food arrived promptly. Lastly the prices are excellent. You spend much less for home cooked healthy food here than you might blow at the typical fast food burger joint. And the fact that Pearls is open 24 hours a day is an added bonus. Highly recommend.

The only reason I dont give an excellent is I dont care for the décor, and some of the servers arent very tentative as Id like. With that said if your looking for great food and decent prices this is the place for you and the fam. Im really picky about my food the salad bar is small but serves the purpose, the veggie soup is amazing. I think they use leftover veggies on bar and others to make some awesome veggie soup. The portions are generous and food is always good it is down home cooking so if your looking for five star dishes this isnt it. This place is stress free and family oriented come and find what your missing.

Will not go back. The country fried steak was very soggy, corn was like rubber and had a terrible taste, loaded potato skins were gross, and the steak hoagie was soggy. They brought the check when they brought the food and we hate that because we know after that, they arent coming back to check on us. Very disappointed.

Great "at-home feel. Service is awesome and friendly. Everyone here, from the staff to the customer base are down-to -earth and welcoming. The food is kind of greasy spoon meets comfort food.. but its always great and very affordable. I recommend a double decker, or an omelet!

Restrooms dirty. No soap or towels for your hands. Has the same thing to eat all the time. Have karaoke on Tuesday night actually runs people off because the music is so loud. Some of the waitresses are loud yelling across the room and laughing out loud.

If your looking for great food at a great value, this is your place. Dont let the decor fool you, its the food and friendly service that keeps bringing us back. Ask for courtney, Tony, or Wanda if you like to chit chat. Good people.
