Its unfortunate that Brioso doesnt have some competition - its the only place like it for lunch downtown - because it might force some improvements. I eat here almost every day because it is good but I am left with few choices - downtown Columbus is essentially dead save for a few small pockets. The food is very good and the service is pretty consistently just as much as needed - youre not going to be wowed here. But for the price and quality it is worth dealing with sometimes just so-so service. The coffee and tea have been great. The place needs some fluffing and fixing - looks run down in a not so good way and a little dirty. Hours are pretty much morning and lunch and thats it. The outdoor seating is good to have but again it needs some sprucing up. Youll be entertained by the wide variety of street creatures who troll around downtown during the day while sitting out there. Overall, given the few options, I recommend checking it out.

Can you believe they would say that to a long standing customer? They did. Lost not only the business of the long standing customer, but Im sure much more thru the word of mouth, trickle-down effect. Even after all this, a friend and myself went in to give them another chance. We arrived shortly before the close of business and asked if we could still get a sandwich. Instead of getting a polite response that theyd rather not, one of the guys slammed a knife into the counter. We politely said wed go somewhere else and have done just that for the past 60 some odd days. I think this rude place is getting ready to face its demise with the opening of a real deli right around the corner in a week or so. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

the atmosphere evoked being in the Short North...relaxed, laid back, ....you walk in and a bit of tension from the work day rolls off. I had one of the best tuna sandwiches on fresh soft rye bread accompanied by a honey vanilla latte that surpassed any I have ever had. Starbucks has nothing on Brioso....the charming barrista presented me with the honey latte and recommended I take a sip immediately before lidding. I kept sipping...and sipping...and sipping. The lid never went on...I wasted a lid but it was a sacrifice that had to be made. I was able to sit on the patio to eat my lunch and watch people walk by. A true simple pleasure.

I usually like to hang out here most days for my lunch break. The main reasons are their iced tea and patio. Black, unsweetened tea with lemon and extra ice is really refreshing specially now in the mid-day heat. The food is alright, is what you expect from a café, affordable and decent taste. I only drink tea, thus I am unable to comment on their coffee. The ambience is alright inside, although I prefer the outside. The staff is eclectic and consistently friendly. If you would like to hang out at a non-pretentious café with a nice patio to watch the world spin by, then check this place. Be sure to bring good vibes...

Stopped in as part of a coffee tour with a friend when in town recently. Food was pretty good. As a home roaster I enjoyed buying green coffee beans. Their roasted and brewed coffee, while decent, has considerable room for improvement. Theres probably little competition in that area of town. Much better freshly roasted coffee is available from several shops on High St. near campus. The place needs a good cleaning or at least some new carpet.

I dont always review things on the internet. But when I do, its because everything about them is fantastic. I dont want to sound like Im gushing, theres no hyperbole happening here. Brioso has great food, great coffee and great people. I already violently recommend this place to friends, family, coworkers, delivery people and strangers on the street; now Ive branched out to strangers on the internet. Shut up and give them your money.

So disappointed. Ordered custom-made pour over (paid $1 premium), and was served coffee from a thermos. When I asked why it wasnt custom made, was told they dont do it in morning, instead, they make a large batch to serve. When I made it clear that I wasnt happy, barista shrugged shoulders. No offer to replace or refund. No way that coffee was pour-over; clearly it was drip brewed. Imagine every cliche of hipster coffee bar, its here.

I cut through downtown during rush hour just to stop at Brioso. The great folks at Brioso roast their coffee on site so it is at the peak of flavor for each roast style. When I am not roasting my own coffee at home, Brioso is THE place I buy roasted coffee. Be sure to try the Ethiopian Sidamo (full city roast), if Jeff has any on hand.

A wonderful traditional cappuccino! The staff was incredibly patient and friendly. I love the cycling environment. The streets were lined with bikes. Ive driven through Columbus many times but never stopped, that ends today! From this day forward any time I am in the area I will be making a stop at Brioso

Staff is rude and offensive and the restaurant is incredibly filthy. I will never eat here again, unless they go to new management/ownership/staff. As much as I try to support local businesses, I would rather go to starbucks/subway or just walk the extra block or two to cup of joes.

The staff is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They roast their own beans on-site and their coffees are truly amazing. All food items are freshly made (from the breads for the sandwiches to the cookies for dessert) and extremely delicious. Very relaxed, kickback vibe.

Coffee is good but that is about it. You cannot plug in your computer because the outlets dont work. "It is not something we do" he said. What? Have electricity? Why are the outlets there then? Waited for a long time with no apology or anything. It seems this place is overrated.

Best coffee and espresso in downtown Columbus. Fresh roasted and ground beans delivery a consistently great cup of coffee. They also offer a selection of baked goods and light lunch items. Different single origin beans are available for purchase.

This place is nice and friendly and has a very creative menu with lots of vegetarian options. The mixed field greens in the salads, however, are consistently unfresh or unwashed, and not recommended. Very reasonable prices for downtown, though.

Great Service turned into me learning the finer points of Pourover. Im enjoying the free sample I was sent home with this morning. Using the tips I learned it tastes just like the Cafe Brioso. I will return anytime Im downtown. Thank You!!

These people love coffee and they put their heart and souls in to every cup of coffee that they sell. If you get a chance, do a coffee roastery tour. It will make you appreciate coffee and and what Brioso has to offer.

Café Brioso is a nice corner café. The two daily soups, vegitsrian black bean and tomato soup, were both flavorful. The barbecue chicken salad was very average. The seating in the place is a bit shabby.

Best coffee anywhere in town and the food is surprisingly very good as well. Only negative is the beat up and somewhat austere seating, tables, etc., though the coffee is clearly first priority.
