Food is very good. My husband and I have been going here since they opened. However recently they took the fried avocados off the menu which was upsetting. They were so good! Also, the service has always been rather slow. Seems like they have way too many people and not enough room/staff. All of these things we could handle and just learned to get take-out. That was until this weekend. We arrived and we were seated within 10 minutes but did not get our appetizer until 30 minutes later. They never brought my son a booster seat until we had to ask multiple times, my husband sat there with an empty coffee cup. Our waitress was serving as the bartender also. We asked her to please check on our food and it came out about 50 minutes after ordering. Other tables that came in after us received their food at least 20 minutes before. I asked to speak to the manager as my son was getting VERY hungry (he is a toddler.) The staff was very apologetic and offered a gift card. She asked if we had ever been there before, as this was what you could expect most weekends. I informed her that we had and then she suggested that maybe my husband and I come back alone sometime... "Maybe leave the baby at home... date night?" I dont care how apologetic they were, after hearing that I was done. My son was not the problem, the service/short staff/restaurant was the problem. I will add that the bill was taken care of and they did provide an additional gift card. Im just not sure I can really get over that comment. I hope she did not mean it that way... but it made it seem like the problem was that my child wasnt patient, rather than the fact that he had been sitting there quietly for an hour waiting to eat.

The place and staff, well Tony, provided an excellent backdrop for a wonderful Fathers Day surprise. So, yes, I was stoked for a great experience, but nothing should be taken away from the superior food or kindness Tony and a hostess (so sorry I failed to get her name) provided. Atmosphere: There are outside tables to view the comings and goings in this rather average shopping plaza. Inside, think the T.V. show Cheers. There is a long bar, booths around the floor perimeter and tables in the center of a raised floor. Plush carpet mutes voices and noises to make for a more intimate feel. Food: Superior in taste, quantity and wait time to other places Ive visited at this price point. Entrees and drinks were about $16.59. Fresh side salads, mashed potatoes, French fries, Cole slaw were the sides. The entrées I tasted were the country fried steak (not a patty, but a real cut of meat), ribs with a side of fried shrimp, and a shrimp and chicken pasta. The fish and chips came to the table, but I only looked at the incredibly large pieces of cod, fried to a rich, brown color and crunchy enough to hear. All were wonderful. I suggest you get the special jam: Bourbon, bacon, onions, shallots and maple syrup. We "shared" and order, served with crisp today, but I should have gotten my own. Sadly, even sharing the appetizer with three others, I had no room for dessert. FYI...I was the only one who did not leave with a carry out box. Service: Tony was awesome! He was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. The hostess was kind enough to take photos. ... outside. .. of the restaurant! I look forward to returning!

Went for the first time, and the food was simply not up to par. My wife ordered the fish tacos (which she typically tries anywhere we go), and they were not good at all. She had one bite, and that was enough. We sent it back, and they didnt charge us, but it always seems to ruin the experience when the food is bad. My daughter and I both had grilled cheeses, which were not bad per say, but for $10 I think a grilled cheese should be extra special. Sure you put odd ingredients on there, but its a grilled CHEESE, so there needs to be quite a bit of cheese. Sadly, these were a bit lacking in cheese. One or two slices of cheese isnt enough for a wanna-be artisan grilled cheese. Lastly, when I tell my waitress/waiter that I dont like something, "Ive been serving it all day with no complaints" IS NOT an acceptable response. I dont care if you served it to the queen of England, I dont like it, and Im not going to pay for it. Its like your implying that there is something wrong with me and not your food. Just say youre sorry, ask if we want something else, and then move on. We will not be going back, and we will share our experience with others. You only have one chance at a first impression. You knew this was our first time, and you failed to impress.

My first time here I was very disappointed! I ordered the shrimp and grits and the Renee the server said it was the best in Raleigh. Not so! Ive had many shrimp and grits entrees in the south including Charleston, SC and this entree was not good! It had tons of bacon that is all I could taste, there was no sauce or very little if any and lots of grits! How do you make shrimp and grits without a sauce? To sum it up, it had very little seasonings, tons of bacon flavor and it was very dry! Never again! The server never smiled and she seemed like she was reading a script very robotic. She also tried to up-sell everything on the menu very annoying! Please allow your guests to order what they want! Last but not least this was a first for us, while we sat and finished our drinks Renee stopped by to pick up the check before we left the restaurant. I thought that was very rude. Servers should wait until the customer leaves before picking up the check that is what is proper to do! Needless to say, I will not be returning. Not sure what all the 4 & 5 star reviews are all about? I will repeat what another reviewer said "dont trust the online reviews". I agree!

I went here one evening for a drink and on a Sunday for brunch. There were only about 8 customers there that evening yet we were barely spoken to by the employees working there. When we showed up Sunday for brunch they had a board outside the front door with the test kitchen and daily specials. We went to the hostess station where the owner was speaking to the host and stood there while they continued to talk to each other and did not acknowledge us. When we were seated we had to ask for the brunch menu as they were not provided. I asked the waiter to go over the specials and he had to go outside and look at the board because he didnt know what they were. The place was only 1/2 full yet it took almost 35 minutes to get eggs, sausage, potatoes and a chicken salad sandwich. The food was average. The over easy eggs had runny whites, the biscuit was dry and not served with any butter or jelly. The chicken salad reminded me of the shredded type you buy in a plastic container at the grocery store. The prices were reasonable but I wont be wasting any amount of money there again.
