As a previous server, hostess and dining room supervisor, I typically go easy on service and food expectations because I know how difficult it can be on busy nights and with cranky guests. However, I have to draw the line on my visit to the BNG last night. My boyfriend recommended this place and we both had heard great things about it, so we were excited to try it. It took about 15 minutes to get a table and when we were finally seated, we were sat in the corner on the opposite end of where the music and outside seating was. Next, our waitress took a while to grab our drinks but before serving us she asked to see my ID and stared at it for about 5 minutes, then when she brought our beers she asked to see it again. I was like wtf? Unfortunately, our food took a good 45-60 minutes to come out - upon receiving our food, I requested that my salad have no olives and it came out with a lot of olives! Then my boyfriend ordered the ribs and fries/Mac n Cheese. My boyfriend didnt care for the meal and barely ate any of it. Our waitress came back to see how everything was and my boyfriend expressed that it wasnt that great and that he didnt care for the meal and she didnt offer to take care of anything and her main response was, "Huh, thats our most popular dish." Slightly disappointing to see that she didnt go and grab her manager or even offer to take off the ribs because my boyfriend only ate about 2 bites of his meal. This experience was less than normal and really let us down. We will most likely not go back and not recommend.

Very dissatisfied, first negative review!!! Present at restaurant with a very large party, appeared there around 11:45 am, barely any customer present at the time. Our party had already telephoned ahead to let them know a large party was coming. One waiter took all of the orders for the tables.Orders were taken out order, but I waited very patience and requested for a "homemade chili",did not with the chili until after hour later.I was very disappointed, because my order was very simple and should have already been in the pot.A hour had passed and I did tell the waiter to cancel my order, because it was already pass a hour and did not want it anymore. The allege manager, not sure appear to have attitude with when I told him I did not want it any more, besides I had already told the waiter to cancel the order, but I quess he didnt.I am the one that should have gotten apology. How so important it is to provide good quality of service and be willing to receive the blame when it gets overwhelmed with a large party and to prepare yourself in any future event and make a customer feel like it was their fault or to project a nasty attitude back at them.

These guys have some really good craft beers. The outdoor patio is comfortable. They allow pets in their patio as this is really important for us with our puppy. The Burgers are top notch. My wife and i have been on a hunt for the best veggie burger in town. Until this place, our favorite was bull city. I must say that these guys some really good burgers. The sweet potato fries is a must try as well. There was also a stage inside for live bands. We were visiting the place for lunch so we did not see much activity.

A great discovery for blues music and BBQ ribs. Found this little gem by accident and throughly enjoyed the blues jam session that started at 8PM. Musicians interested in playing sign up upon arrival and are assigned to a group of musicians who play a 3 song set before another group is called up. A hole in the wall kind of a place…but moving I learned to a new location in Durham in June. The ribs were outstanding. The music inspired several couples to hit the small dance floor. I will certainly go back!

My husband and I decided to visit this spot for the first time last night well the atmosphere was nice they had a band but are waitress wasnt that friendly. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered ribs and pulled pork with baked beans and a side of Brunswick stew. Everything was horrible even the hushpuppies. How do you mess up those? The pulled pork was a poop presentation of the south. But before we could get our check I had to throw up and excuse myself. Yuck

Music great, food decent. Service beyond terrible. You have to pay the cover charge to sit on the porch but cannot hear ANY live music; the speakers out there play canned tunes. Interior layout is poor, the handicap ramp takes up 25% of the stage side of the business, separating the bar from the tables, making it impossible to walk around. If you can get a table reservation go - it is a wonderful experience to sit so close to the stage.

Great spot to eat and enjoy downtown. Been 5+times never had an issue. The food and service are great! The ribs are probably the best you can get from a restaurant and not going to a pitmasters house. You can tell they take their time with the food and the ingredients are fresh. Had numerous items on the menu and they were all top notch... WARNING: dont get the ribs first because you will not want to eat anything else.

Skye is correct. Good as the BBQ is ...and it is good ...the bread pudding stands alone. Up till now, I always thought bread pudding was bread pudding ...but no longer. Tuesday night jam is a treat. People I never imagined would be bluesies would get up and belt out songs Id never heard before. Then there is Wednesday night 1$ PBRs. It cant get any more special than that.

Was recently in Raleigh/Durham for business and took a group of co-workers here to wind down on Tuesday night - apparently we picked the right night to go. We did the "pork n pint" special - order a pint of beer and half-rack of ribs and get $2 off each. We stuck around for a few more hours and enjoyed a local blues open mic night. If you havent been here, then get here ASAP!

I wouldnt consider this place anything above average. The food was average, mine was barely seasoned and nothing to rave about. My other half got ribs and said they were good but hed definitely had better. The space is small and the music was overwhelming, probably wouldnt be so bad if you could sit outside while they played inside but it was deafening as is.

Dined and enjoyed live Blues music at The Blue Note Grill for the first time last night with some family. Excellent experience! The beer and liquor selection was great, service was fantastic, food was outstanding, and the music topped it all off! Great spot to eat or just grab a drink and enjoy an evening! Will definitely be coming back!
