Dinner for two turned out to be our worst dinning experience of the week in Banner Elk. It took a half hour to get two glasses of wine. Not a cocktails as preface to a leisurely anniversary dinner. Reason given "the bar is very busy". So the Rose that was delivered was supposed to be a Malbec ... Oh Sorry! Salad and dinner was delivered at the same time with the correct red wine. Our request to the server to keep our dinners hot while we enjoyed the large salad was met with a response the meal wold have to be prepared from scratch or dry out under heat lamps. Reason given "the kitchen is a chief short tonight". We were out of there in 58 minutes... never to return . The Painted Fish is in trouble!!!

The best restaurant in Banner Elk hands down. This is one of our must eat places when in town. The owner was the head chef at Florida golf courses as well as a place close to Grandfather mountain. He knows what hes doing. Every single meal was fantastic. Everything was fresh and tasted homemade. His wife makes the desserts homemade. The goat cheese blueberry pie is out of this world. Their daughter was our waitress a few times and was very nice. You wont be disappointed here.

Oh my goodness! The Painted Fish was a wonderful treat while in Banner Elk! I highly recommend it. It offers a fabulous menu and bar menu. I had the soup du jour, which was gingered mussels with chickpeas. Sounds weird but absolutely delicious. One of my friends tasted a bite of mine and immediately ordered a cup for herself. I also had 1/2 portion of the painted salad. Craft beers, wine and cocktails are also served.

We just got home from dinner at The Painted Fish Cafe; one word, "Delicious!!!" I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the chicken and we both thought our dinners were superb. Everything was perfect, the food and the service. I have never written an online review before, but since I use them as guides on where to go, I felt compelled to let others know about this restaurant.

I recently had the opportunity to have a family reunion catered by Chef Tom, and Tyler Goudy, to say that the meal was fantastic is an understatement! Not only was the food wonderful but it traveled for 45 minutes was reheated, and still tasted like we were sitting in the dinning room at the Painted Fish on a Wednesday night. Thank you for such a great experience.

I have eaten there several times now and cant wait to eat there again because I want to go through the menu and try everything. instead of the basic menu items, each dish is unique to this chefs creation and talents that I haven’t tasted anywhere else, making it a pleasure to experience everything for the first time.

Went there for brunch over memorial day. Food was average, to say the least. However, the salt used was above average. I felt the server gave the minimal attention possible. No need to revisit with the other great restaurants around.

Waited at our table for 15 minutes- no menus were given, had a waitress walk by 4 times and waited on tables on both sides of us and never even acknowledged we were sitting there. Finally just left.
