DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! in town from Wisconsin, staying at a near by hotel, after a long day of walking all around New York we decided to have dinner here (worst decision ever!!!!) went into the place, got the menus and right away i noticed that the food is over priced for a Mexican restaurant... it took about 10 mins for someone to come greet us and take our drink order... i ordered a horchata and i was told that they didnt have horchata (Really? a Mexican restaurant without horchata?) i asked for a sprite and after i got it i asked for a refill and i was told that i would get charged for a full drink no free refills... i saw the menu and after going through it twice i asked how the Camarones con Arroz was cooked... server looked at me like if i was form another planet and explain to me that he was only in charge of bringing the food out and not cooking it nor knowing how it was cooked anyways i decided to go with the shrimp chicken and steak fajitas... my wife ordered a quesadilla as well as my mother in law... chicken was sooooooo bad and tasteless it seemed like i was bitting on the chicken itself!!!! over all all the food was flat and not good at all and my flour tortillas were cold! (we ate just because we were super hungry from all the walking) and to top it off we asked for the check to be split into 3 equal parts (three families came) and was told that the check could only be split in half per table and i asked why and i got a rudely "its policy".... thanks for ruining our last dinner in the New York area El Mariachi... the only reason i would go back there it would be to hold a sign at the door asking people to not eat there...

2 Stars are for the band. The chips were stale, the salsa was watery, the guacamole was spoiled and the waiter confirmed it is not made fresh. The tacos lack taco toppings. No cheese, no tomato, just beef and lettuce on top of juice from refried beans which made the tacos soggy. The same guacamole was topped on my chimichangas with some more juice from refried beans with melted cheese on top. Thanks but didnt I tell you the guacamole was spoiled???? The manager offered no apology and said to me why should I take the entrees off your bill??? We gathered our things, I left a 20% tip and left. Sorry, to the band. Its not hard to find better Mexican food ,, every 7-11 has microwavable burritos.

I have been dining at El Mariachi for over 20 years. During that period, Ive sampled most of what is on the menu and rarely have I been disappointed. They have the best Mexican food in western Nassau County hands down! The prices are very reasonable, with good-sized portions; Mariachi players on the weekend and theyre even open for lunch. Ive taken out-of-town family here and theyve always raved about the food. Pleasant atmosphere. Helpful staff. And Im told (I dont drink) that their beverages are very good. The negative reviews might be from some Tex-Mex rivals in the area. Twenty plus years in business speaks for itself!

I enjoyed the Mexican food, but it was not nearly the best mexican food Ive head in NYC. I ordered the burrito grande and thought it would be more food. To be honest a Chipotle burrito might have tasted better. They give you chips and salsa while youre waiting, which is nice. Our table also got a pitcher of Sangria. It tasted pretty good for the money I suppose. Ive definitely had better in the city. Overall its a good restaurant for some decent Mexican food, but if you want to have a nicer experience with some better food, go somewhere else.

Not good at all. Went for a friends birthday. Six of us in total. Food was bland and staff was unfriendly except for one waitress who was friendly. We ordered a round of drinks, 5 came right out the the 6th waited 10 minutes. Also we ordered a glass of wine later and after 30 minutes had to ask again. When asking for more chips you would have to ask 2 or 3 times before they would bring them. Best part of the meal was desserts. They were good but honestly that was it. Doubt I would go back

Held a party for 40 guests. Reservation was made 1 month prior. Specifically requested Empanadas as an appetizer, which were never served. Flan for dessert, they ran out before the last 2 tables were served. I brought in 50 Leche miniature cakes. They should have been served on a plate, with a fork. Instead passed around on the baking tray I brought them in and treated like childrens cupcakes. Tacky AND messy.

Bought the flan desert to go for over $4. When I got home I found it was supermarket KozyShack flan worth $0.50. I feel ripped off because when I purchase food at a restaurant I dont expect to receive sub-par supermarket fare. I refuse to ever go to this restaurant again unless they decide to run a more honest business.

The worse Mexican food you can ever have, and the worse they have the most horrible customer service. I sat down for 15 minutes without anyone coming over until I said something. Then waited another 15 for someone to take my order. REALLY EXPENSIVE..!!!!

Maybe Im just not a Long Islander or something ... but really? THIS is the best LI has to offer? Lousy service, laughable "atmosphere", cut rate food, worst dining experience Ive had on my six months on Long Island.

Dont know whats going on with some of these negative reviews. El Mariachi is probably the best mexican food in the area. Great vibe, live music, and food that makes you feel like youre right on the border! 5 stars!

The place is not as good as I remember it over 10 years ago. No Happy Hour and the drinks were on the watery side. Food was so so and nothing special. I would not be inclined to go back so quickly.

Service wasnt great, food was not good. The sangria had no fruit and tasted like juice. First time, and not coming back. Not a real mexican place, more like american food. No sazon at all!!

Service was ok, but was disappointed with what the best mexicanin town had to offer. The nacho chips were dripping with oil, the salsa was strictly ok and main course was sub par.
