Ok, I get it that Olcott is a seasonal resort area. Still, that shouldnt serve as an excuse for restaurants with lousy food and/or service. Weve been visiting Olcott for many years and enjoy the area. Many of our favorite, really good, restaurants in Olcott have closed during the past few years, leaving not a whole lot of choices for good food and service at reasonable prices. Captains Galley used to be one of those choices but, after our last experience there, we wont be going back. Once we were seated, it took 10 minutes for a waitress to approach us with menus. It then took another 15 minutes for her to come back to take our orders. Add to that, nearly 40 minutes waiting for two burger platters to arrive. Of course, by then, everything was lukewarm or cold, and one order of fries and a salad was missing. We were too hungry to wait, so we ate what was served. To be fair, the blame for all of this gets dumped on the owner. When I went inside to pay our check, I learned that the electronic order system was out of order, and the wait staff were scrambling to try and keep it all together and keep the restaurant running. So, where was the owner while things were falling apart inside? Well, he was dutifully entertaining some friends at a table outside on the patio by showing them the proper way to roll silverware in table napkins. Yup, we saw it with our own eyes. Wish Id gotten it on video now.

Four of us came to have dinner . We sat out on the patio .we got our drinks from the bar Im thinking that was our mistake becouse we waited and waited and waited and waited some more to be served.I started to feel my hair turn gray from the very did I say very long wait to be served or even acknowledged . My husband went in and brought us our menus . And waited some more people that came in way after us were getting served I thought that maybe we were on the show candid camera and that Alan funt was going to pop out from his grave and say your on candid camera . Only one young girl was out side taking orders. I think that a newborn snail moved faster than her .The whole reason we picked that place to eat was for the onion rings . When we finally placed our orders it did not take as long to get our food . Three of the four orders came out at once but one person had to wait longer for his food . And as people were leaving 99% of them said they would not be returning I think that I am part of that number very very very disappointed in the service . I think that if they cant get good help they should close the doors. If you have all day and all night to wait than this place is right up your alley.

We went here 3 times. The first was summer 2010. I had open face roast beef sandwich, my husband had fried chicken. We were REALLY impressed and returned couple weeks later. Again, I ordered the roast beef. It was fatty and tough. My husband ordered meatloaf. He said it was bland. We went there recently again to give them another shot and we will not be returning. I got a burger which was overcooked and dry...my husband got a chicken wrap of some sort. The chicken wrap was ok until he saw one of the employees carrying a bag of frozen chicken breasts from the freezer to the kitchen...that disappointed us. I guess we were hoping that an actual fresh piece of chicken was grilled. To the restaurants credit, they did comp the entire meal. We are disappointed that our last two experiences were negative. We would have really loved to have the Lighthouse be "our" place since the location and atmosphere was perfect. If the owners would just perfect the cooking of their food and use homemade receipes IT WOULD BE INCREDIBLE!

The Lighthouse Grill was opened a couple years ago and closed one of the summers.... Then reopened and we were able to fit time in to try it again in August 2016. I feel the previous years were better than it is now. The interior is pretty much the same as before, if not exactly the same ... so essentially no upgrades or remodel work was done. The service was a bit slow but its likely due to having one waitress working all of the tables. Perhaps hire more help? The pizza logs were good..and my first with them... Just needed more UMP. The REUBEN sandwich was darn good. (i read someone elses bad review of their REUBEN so maybe they had a bad night. I say give it another chance. :) My husband had the BURNT ends sandwich which he said was pretty good so it must be cuz he can be picky. Other than that, the place was just an okay for me.

Had hoped to be able to sit outside, but with the live music and beautiful day, cant hold it against others who just decided to sit and drink, taking up all available outside seating. But, the rest of the story I can hold it against the restaurant. Fish (fingers and dinner) tasted funny, burger was dry and tasteless. No real hostess organizing seating. Completely inattentive waitress - had to chase her down to get appetizer delivered, which showed up cold and 2 minutes later rest of food was plopped down. No return check on how we were doing, had to flag her down again to get another drink. Never again and I dont recommend doing anything but sitting outside on patio and listening to the music.

Stopped by on a whim during a drive through Olcott. Only had drinks, but plan on returning for music and food during Jazz Weekend. Place is casual with a nautical theme and lots of local memorabilia. Pirate themed stuff abounds. Fresh looking dining area and patio with lots of light and views of the town streets and lake area. Bar area is dimmer and more worn, but clean and tidy. Restrooms in good repair and clean. Long ramp for handicapped access along side of building into bar area, but owner happy to accommodate front entry if required. Friendly staff. Lots of locals eating and chatting in dining area on the day I stopped. Based on positive first impressions, Ill return soon.

Our experience was during the weekend of the pirate events, so most people ate near the car show and carnival area. There was two to three people at the bar and a party of eight at the tables and us. I didnt understand why it took almost an hour to get our food. My wifes fish fry came out to us and it was burned and almost charred in some spots. The manager did however remove The fish fry from The bill. The food was ok, nothing great. I hate to give a bad review because this place was highly recommended by others. Maybe we were just unlucky

It took 45 minutes to get our food. I was told there was clam chowder and I never got it and then told there was another soup. Also the worst Reuben I have ever seen dried nasty meat, soggy bread, and no dressing. I didnt even dare try it. Worst experience ever at a restaurant avoid at all cost.

I went to this restaurant yesterday. It was awful! FLIPPING AWFUL! My mothers fish fry was so very soggy with grease. My hamburger was tasteless. The service was just as awful as the food with the most unattentive waitress. Do not waste your money or time.
