Ramen - its all the rage. Im usually not a fan, but when I heard this place has a perpetual wait AND that they had recently added a vegetarian option, I figured why not give it a go! 1 hr wait as soon as they opened. My OG yelp friend Peter Y. put our names on the list while we enjoyed some happy hour drinks at Keybar down the street. An hour later we got a text that our table was ready - the line was out the door so we had to squirm through the masses. Inside, the air was full of spice it was like breathing in pepper spray! It took a good few minutes to stop coughing. Ahem. Unfortunately there were no veg appetizers available at that particular time. But they did have beer so theres that. *thumbs up* Now onto the ramen! So usually when a restaurant comes up with a vegetarian version of their signature dish, its a lamer, dulled down version with no flavor. That was absolutely not the case here. The Hozon ramens chick pea broth was so flavorful it was actually overwhelming. I love salt, and it was actually a touch too salty even for me. The noodles themselves were a good texture, and I loved the addition of the fried chick peas which remained crispy throughout the meal. Despite the line out the door, the service was quick and efficient. Decor is modern and minimalist - long community tables serve the small restaurant well. Would I go back? If I lived in the city, yeah. But considering Im a Jersey girl that doesnt get over there much, I probably will not return. But would I recommend this place? Heck yes - the food is worth the wait!

Truly loved the experience on Monday night dinner. The restaurant receptionist welcomed us genuinely and paid attention to us even though she was extremely busy all the time with customers in front of her and on the phone, etc. Since we walked in, we had to wait about 40 minutes, we ran a small errand nearby and came back in 20 minutes. Saw that she was extremely busy on the phone, but she told us that our seat will be ready in about 15 to 20 minutes, even before we asked her. She also helped us get some drinks while we wait. (Really wanted to tip her but I missed ir. The reception was closed when we finished our late dinner. Maybe next time.) Servers were willing to help and really cared about our dining experience. It was a fantastic dinner. The food was great as well. Rib eyes were properly cooked, seasoned well, crunch outside to hold the juice inside. Oh... That was yummy. Coconut shrimp rolls were pleasant to eat with the harmony of ingredients. Nigiri sushi was also good. Since they didnt put Wasabi under the fish (for people who are not used to it), I applied Wasabi to make it taste right for me. Yellowtail, tuna, and salmon were served and they were all truly awesome. Liked their cocktail and wines.

Hillstone is a very classy place - youll find the typical business person here for their lunch, suits and all, but that certainly isnt the only client they cater to. I came for lunch with a few friends and enjoyed their delicious Spinach and Artichoke dip, as well as the Famous French Dip sandwich. While the tortilla chips went faster than the dip itself, they offered to bring us more when we were getting low. For my entree, French Dip was amazing! It was almost too large for eating - with bits an pieces falling out as I ate, but dipping that sandwich into the juice was unbelievable. The only disappointment I had was with the fries - they were cut so small that it was difficult to eat. I couldnt grab them with my fork properly, and when I used my hands, I only grabbed one or two (taking a long time to eat) or a grabbed a handful (sticking out in every direction) and tried to find the right angle to get them all in one bite. Overall a great spot and well worth it for the price (a bit higher than Im used to). Ill definitely be back, probably when I have a bit more cash to spare.

Sehr gutes Essen.

This place came up on Yelp as my friend and I were looking for a place to watch the Warriors game (May 9th, 132-125 Go Warriors!). And sure enough, as promised, there are 9 TVs in the place, and they were all tuned to the game. Though the place seemed pretty packed, we were eventually able to find some seats by sharing a table with another smaller group. Shoutout to Jackie our waitress who was super friendly and helped us find a seat! The beer selection is pretty comprehensive (as expected for an Irish pub), though Im not much of a drinker so I suppose I dont have high standards in this regard. There was a sign outside advertising their "famous Irish soda bread" so we had to try it out...and it was delicious! "But its just bread..." you say. Yeah, I know, but believe me, its really good! Dense but also soft and chewy and slightly sweet. Goes really well with butter.

I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Food: Excellent. I recommend the Classical Ceasar salad, the Thai Steak & Noodle salad (which is more like a dinner than a lunch :)) and the Coconut Shrimp Roll! Drinks: Great. Standard Classics. The bartenders make great martinis here! Space: This is a large modern, elegant and sleek restaurant/bar/lounge with a very open and intimate floor layout. The bar has dining seating, but is usually packed after-work and is a heavy pickup scene. It is the perfect layout for mixing and mingling, date nights, and get-togethers. Scene: Singles Scene. Date night. Pickup scene. Girls night out. Crowd: 30-40s After-work crowd. Mostly corporate and professionals. Service: Bar staff and servers are attentive and friendly.

We had a reservation. Men in suits carrying bottles inside. I was excited for a hip up-scale dinner; the menu prices suggested thats what I would get...disappointed indeed The hostess whisked us by the other tables to our seat, so I didnt see the tourists bound to a 1 mile radius of their hotel. I soon realized I was in a luxury version of Fuddruckers. BUT WAIT, I dont see any ping-ball tables or air hockey; Ive been cheated! Cheated! If "cool" friends lure you here - get the burger; that is the ONLY option; do not look at the appetizers; do not flirt with the cleverly named cocktails; GET THE BURGER; avoid the fish and more "sophisticated" dishes on the menu...youll be cheated SO many better places to dine in NYC. Why go here ... but if you do, get the burger.

The only downside to this restaurant is that too many people know how truly wonderful it is. So, reservations are a must unless you want to wait. However, their gorgeous bar hardly makes a wait seem tedious. I requested a romantic table via RESY for dinner last night at 6:15pm and we were seated in moments at the best table in the house. All the way in the back - away from the crowd. The phenomenally exquisite food here is only outdone by the incredible staff. I used to eat at this Hillstone location (26th & Park) regularly when I lived at 28th & Lexington. It has always been consistently amazing. In fact, I think that the food is actually superior now. But that also might have been my skewed perception while eating with the woman Im in love with - tough call.
