I never expected a place this good to open anywhere in the area, after having surveyed the local restaurants after moving in 6 years ago. It was a very pleasant surprise to try Zambistro a few times and get consistently delicious food. Calling the alfredo du jour "mac and cheese of the day" is a stroke of marketing genius for this area, and it seems to be working: the place seems to be thriving, and I have seen a mix of everyday folks and business people, etc., when Ive been there. The quality of the ingredients really stands out in the area. Im not much to complain about service or atmosphere if the food is good, but the staff at Zambistro has been friendly and attentive. I dont think youll have anything to reasonably complain about there. Between Zambistro, the Shirt Factory Cafe, and the Basket Factory, food life has really been improving in the area. Since Ive given five stars, I should say that were not talking about a Mulberry St. experience here. That would be impossible. One difference, for example, is that flavors in the area seem to be very over the top compared to what I guess is the european-style experience you can get in New York. However, I think Zambistro pulls off a great compromise between elegance in flavor profile and suiting the local palette. For the Western New York area, Zambistro is in the top class of restaurants Ive tried, and one of the best values. Like the other reviewer said, Im not sure how they charge these prices. I hope its working as well as it seems, and they can continue to weather the economy as it picks up, because Id love to continue to have this place handy.

Stopped here for dinner while on vacation in Western NY based on a recommendation from owner of the property we were renting in Waterport. I had the fish fry and my wife is a steak eater and usually always orders a rib-eye but they didnt have one on the menu. Sarah our waitress (who did an excellent job by the way) recommended the 14 oz. NY strip which was the special that evening. Im always one to taste food before I season it and generally I add salt/pepper or both. Everything we ate that evening required no seasoning. The chef on duty that evening (also the owner) prepared everything masterfully. My wife said it was one of the best steaks shes ever had (and she has had many). The fish fry (also a special) was a cod rolled in corn flakes - outstanding! My wife had a few glasses of wine (Pinot G) she said was excellent and I has a couple beers that were ice-ice cold, something else I usually dont experience when dining out. We live in IL and my wife is looking for a way to get back here to this restaurant. We eat out a lot and I travel a lot so we eat out a lot. This was certainly one of our best dining experiences ever. The owner has it figured out; his attention to detail is evident in just about everything we experienced during our dining experience. For the fit and finish of what you get as for quality; I think his prices are very reasonable.

An amazing, gourmet restaurant in Medina?!?! On a whim, I visited Zambistro with my parents shortly after its opening. Growing up in Orleans county, it has been my experience that area restaurants are sub-par, un-inspiring, and usually of poor quality... not to mention horribly un-healthy. However, Zambistro is truly a diamond in the rough! I enjoy dinning with close friends and family and have been lucky enough to do so in upscale restaurants in major cities. I can assure you, Zambistro is up-to-par with the best of them. Their food is amazingly unique and provides dinners with a cornucopia of salivation inducing flavors. Their menu is diverse and reminiscent of ones youd expect to find in posh New York City bistros. Once inside, youre greeted by clean, crisp, white table clothes and an unassuming, yet sophisticated atmosphere. ...youll forget youre in Medina! The staff is professional and the service is great! Yet for the quality of their food, the prices leave you wondering how they make a profit! Support this place! Although I no longer live in the area, its nice to have the option to experience upscale dinning when I return home to visit my parents (without having to drive to Rochester or Buffalo). This place is well worth your time and money. I cannot think of a better restaurant in all of Orleans County. Enjoy!!

While cruising the cruising the Canal we thought we would give it a try. We made reservations for 7:30 on a Friday and showed up 10 minutes early. The place was packed, all tables were taken. We were seated about 10 minutes after our reservation which was pretty good considering the number of people waiting for tables. The wait staff were all hustling and efficient. We had a very knowledgeable waitress who described all the nightly specials in detail. Very friendly, always smiling, efficient and kept our water glasses filled which was appreciated since we spent the entire day in 90 degree temps on the water. We thought the food was first rate and artfully presented.

You walk in and notice that the restaurant is smaller, cosy, classy and clean. The classic music over the speakers helps add to the upscale ambiance. The lighting is slightly dimmed. Cloth tablecloths with paper over top so you dont feel like you have to eat with precision. The food is good. The serving staff is utterly fantastic. Look through the reviews, theres never any complaints about that. Some of the dinner prices can seemingly be a bit pricy for the area but for the most part everything is pretty reasonably priced. They serve beer and wine. Its no greasy spoon, its an excellent restaurant with a classic upscale feel.

My husband and friends took me to Zambistros for my birthday. We had an awesome experience. We had a lobster special and Ahi Tuna, both excellent. And the dishes were very stylish. The service was great! And to top off a great evening, the owner presented us with a special desert with a sparkling wine paring. He looked me straight in the eye, used my name and wished me a happy birthday! Thanks for making my birthday so special! Best dinner experience I ever had!

Found this place while traveling through the area. If I were local, Id dine here weekly. Wine and fresh bread alone can justify. Wine list is short, but solid top to bottom. Herby peasant loaf was crusty and satisfying. Tomato bisque was delicious and worth a repeat, cobb salad with pretty presentation. Server Raquel was professional and attentive.

The far-too-loud Frank Sinatra plying constantly should be the first clue. Zambistro is a restaurant trying a little to be great, but only the prices reflect that goal. Cheap silver, paper table cloth, over-cooked pasta. Such a tiny loaf of bread for three people?!? The wait-staff was great, but you dont go to a restaurant for them.

We go there at least three times a week whether its business lunches or date nights we love it! The atmosphere is peaceful, the service is excellent, and the food is outstanding! We go to five-star restaurants all over the country and we tell ourselves all the time we are so fortunate to have Zambistros in our hometown!

A surprising find in an unlikely place. You walk inside and instantly feel youve transported to an upscale, urban, 5 star restaurant. Had lunch here, pricing was fair, food was great and service good. I plan to return with my wife for a day of shopping on the main strip followed by a romantic dinner here.
