Got food here last night. Before coming here we thought it would be similar to Istanbul Cafe, but its mostly not. The atmosphere and the interior are poor, crowded, old, and not very clean. It combines a Turkish food store and a cafe/restaurant in that there are store shelves with food you can buy, and there are about four tables that you can eat at after you order. In this way its similar to Istanbul Cafe. Here I havent seen any wait staff, so Im guessing that its all self-service, which is different from Istanbul Cafe where there are very pleasant waitresses. But back to Konak: one of the fridges had cartons of juice in it. I picked one up to check the expiration date and found mold on the bottom of it. The prices of the store food are also about 30% higher. But heres whats good about it: the restaurant food prices are somewhat less expensive and the food is good. We ended up getting take out of Lamb Shish, a Chicken Shish, and a Lentil soup, and were rather pleased with it. To sum up, its a good place to get take our of good Turkish food. Its not so good as a store or as a sit-down restaurant, for that youre better off at Istanbul Cafe.

I love the food here. I plan to try everything on the menu...They cook fresh bread everyday. Id come here just for the bread... its that good. I plan to take some photos of the place and food in the future to upload here. This place is a must. Also, the owner is really nice so expect a friendly atmosphere. Has a rustic setting so dress casual. You will feel like youre in someones home. By the way, I saw the owner/chef bringing the prepared food to the customers table twice so it sure didnt look like self service to me. I just mentioned that because the reviewer before me said that it was self-service.

I wanted Turkish food and I read all the positive reviews . The food was not good at alll! I ordered lentil soup and it was salty , I also ordered chicken kebab to go. The food was extremely greasy that the whole paper bag got wet! So gross! The chicken tasted dry and horrible and the rice was extremely greasy. The only thing that tasted good was their bread. Such a disappointing experience, left me very unsatisfied .. my hands are still greasy ...

This was great! I had stuffed peppers filled with rice and seasoned meat. The entree was the adana kebab, ground lamb seasonedwas perfectly. Served with bread and salad, the entrees are plenty of food even for healthy eaters. If I lived here, this would be a regular spot. No frills, but the food is what you are going for.

By far the best place Ive ever eaten at. I unfourtantaly moved 3 1/2 years ago, and still to this day have not found better. I would go at least twice a week and I couldnt say anything bad about the great folks that work there.
