Theres an easier way to enjoy fairly decent tacos...make them yourself. Its easy. Go to Wal-Mart and get the following: a package of Taco size flour or corn tortillas; NOT the boxed preshaped shells. A can of Great Value brand *Butter flavored or Corn "oil spray" similar to PAM but less expensive. A 7oz. can of Great Value Chopped Green Chiles. A 16oz can of Old El Paso Chili with beans. A 16oz can of Refried Beans. A pkg. of Great Value Taco Seasoning mix. A 24oz jar of Great Value White Corn & Black Beans Salsa. 2lbs of fresh ground beef. A pint of Sour Cream. A 8oz pkg of shredded Monterey Jack cheese. A small Romaine lettuce. And a 2.5oz can of sliced Black Olives. *Oil Spray a large skillet & brown the ground meat over medium heat until slightly done. Add 4oz of water, stir & scoop out most, not all, of the greasy water & toss it away. Turn heat down & stir the Seasoning pkg. into the meat. Continue to cook on low heat for 3mins. Open the can of chili and add it to the cooked meat. Stir and continue to cook an additional 2-3mins; turn heat off & cover pan with a lid. Now get your can of Refried beans, scoop out into a micro safe bowl, drizzle an ounce of water over the beans, cover with a flat plate and microwave at medium heat (Level 7 or 8) for 2-3 mins. Carefully remove plate lid, add 1TBSP of margarine, or 1 teaspoon of oil, stir it in well, cover & set aside. Lightly *Oil spray a flat skillet, put on medium heat & place tortillas 1 at a time for approx. 45 seconds per side...spraying each time you turn. Heat up only as many as you plan to eat. You can wrap tortilla shells in tin foil to keep them warm. Build your taco this way: spread a light layer of warm refried beans on the taco shell, next toss a few chiles on top, then the meat, some Black Bean & Corn salsa, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce & finally the sour cream. Sliced black beans are optional. ~Guacamole is also a good topping choice. ~Easy to make Guacamole. 2 medium-soft HASS type avocados. 1pkg dry Guacamole seasoned mix. Follow pkg. instructions. Make 30 mins in advance & refrigerate. Wal-Mart also sells pre-made Jose Cuervo alcoholic Mango, Strawberry, Watermelon & original Lime Tequila margaritas in the cold beer isle & at the Liquor register. Or if you prefer, 3x & Coronas. Salud & Enjoy

I discovered Mex-to-go after sitting in a car for six hours. I was hungry and I wanted something fast. Now Im a big fan of burritos from Chipotle, Moes, and even local mexican restaurants of that nature. So I thought this would be a surefire win... It wasnt. When I first walked in, I was the only customer. So I immediately ordered my chicken burrito. I dont know what took them so long, but I was in there waiting for over twenty minutes for my food. In other places, they soften up the tortilla, put whatever you want in it, wrap it up and boom youre out the door in 3 minutes. So after I finally got my burrito, went in my car, and took a bite. I was underwhelmed. Nothing stood out, it lacked flavor. I tried another bite with the verde sauce, still nothing. Then I straight up tried the verde sauce by itself, and it tasted like they watered down the green hot sauce packets from taco bell. The reason I gave this place 2 stars intead of 1 is because the food didnt taste bad. It didnt taste like anything. No salt, no cilantro, no lime, nothing. There was a distinct lack of flavor, but what little flavor they did have wasnt bad. I dont think Ill ever eat at Mex-to-go again. There are plenty of other, better places to eat.

Naturally one would assume a well-heeled quick-order American-influence Mexican restaurant would supply supply a assortment of choices. True enough Mex To Gos menu delivers on variety but ultimately fails in precision and information. Looking for a normal flour tortilla? Look else where. Youre limited to only corn for Soft Tacos and wheat for Burritos. Ordering a delicious spicy chicken filling? Dont unless you enjoy copious amounts of shredded onion. Its obvious this establishment is catering to a bastardized version conventional Americanized Mexican with the emphasize on a easy dollar exemplified by their skeleton crew and lack of personalization in meals whiches manifests as batch cooking. Paradoxically, even McDonalds offers complete customization. Ignore the first review, this restaurant is hardly authentic and is most definitely NOT in a working class neighborhood. Describing the decor as "whimsical" is a joke. Little effort is put into the ambiance.

Croton is F-d when it comes to Mexican food. One option is the absurdly bad service and bland food of tenampa or as my friend calls it tenampon. Every time we go there it is never again until we forget and crave Mexican and dont want to drive for 30 mins. And that place is 100 times better than mexigo. Plan to wait a half hour for anything more complex than some tortilla chips. Food is so bland that the kids at the elementary school cant take it. And of the 3 times (I know, masochist) Ive gone there never once was my order right. I am writing this after eating a half lime that was left in my burrito which they forgot to give me the 1st time I drove there. In conclusion, go shop rite and buy some semi fresh ingredients or gas up the car and leave croton if you want decent Mexican food. I hope one of the happy Chinese Mexican food places emigrates up from the city and runs these dives out of business

This place is odd. First, their sign says "Mexigo" while their online presence says "Mex-to-go", so looking them up may be challenging. Second, Ive only been there two or three times, but they have screwed something up every time; once I received someone elses entire order, and had to drive back to exchange it.

Mex-to-Go has definitely improved over the years! Burritos are excellent, as are their soups. Enchiladas are great, but I recommend eating them at the restaurant - as they dont travel well. Calling your order in ahead is advised.

The food is fresh and authentic. Great variety of sauces. Good lunch specials. Fresh fruit slurpees are amazing Not cheap but affordable if you ask questions and order smart.

Not good, not bad. Chips with cheese leaves much to be desired. Guac was good but a very small side. Chimmy had no good taste to it. Will not be going back.
