This is my favorite local Japanese/sushi place around Lake Carmel, NY. The stuff is very friendly, and after I frequented the place, they treat me very special. The best sushi chef there is Daniel - ask him to prepare an appetizer of his choice for you, and you wont be disappointed. Also ask Daniel for his personal green tea if youd like to try something other than their standard one. The fish is always fresh, and sashimi are always beautifuly cut. The place is easy to get to, for its right off route 6 - plenty of parking space and no crouds. The only reason Im giving it four stars is their seafood soup, which is definetely not on par with Izumis and Sapporos ones (other two sushi places around). If theyd fix their seafood soup, it would be a five-start local sushi place.

Unfortunately, this place is really going down hill...was there this past Saturday 8/3. Outside and inside looks very run down. Planters broken, landscaping shoddy and inside carpet disgustingly dirty! Then the food...we ordered 2 lunch specials and portions were skimpy and cheap quality, LOADED with onions probably 50%+ of my friends dish was onions (not even listed as an ingredient on the menu description). We told the waitress and she really could have cared less...didnt even offer to do anything. I dont know whats going on with this restaurant but everything that we experienced here was sub par and reeked of this place going down.

Ordered beef with broccoli. Shrimp with broccoli came out. They corrected it but when check came had shrimp with broccoli. When I questioned it the waitress told me they are the same price. Usually shrimp is more. When we left I checked the menu and beef was cheaper. They had an attitude and told me the computer has it more than the written menu. That is fraud. They refunded the difference ($1) but had a major attitude about it. Needless to say I will never be returning there.

Inconsistent food. We had the crispy shrimp with walnut that was perfect one week. 2weeks later the sauce was watery and the broccoli 1/2 raw the other pieces overcooked. We used to go here often, tried it again after a few years and had a good meal, the next visit the food was tasteless with rubbery meat. We wont be going here again.

THE best Chinese good in Putnam County. Great take out. Food quality has always been wonderful. A little more expensive than the stip mall options, but much better quality and portions. You get what you will pay for. Very nice atmosphere inside for dine in. Excellent Sushi the few times I have indulged. Well worth the trip

Service was pretty bad and the food here has definitely gotten worse over time. Ive eaten here for years but not anymore after I noticed that some dishes now have that cheap Chinese takeout taste. The place is still nice and the sushi is good but they need to get their act together.

I live in Manhattan, and Toro is much better than the Chinese restaurants in my neighborhood ----better than any uptown . I live on the Upper West SIDE AND WORK MIDTOWN East. Order Prawns Amazing or Peking Duck. Ask to meet Ben, the owner. Absolutely delightful!! ]

Definitely my favorite place to grab Japanese food in Putnam. Probably one of the best local eateries in Carmel, I would recommend this place to anybody, especially the sushi. Always fresh and presented well. Not a sushi fan? They also have some Chinese on the menu.

I loved Toro and went for years but 2 years ago we had a roach experience and never went back . We really spent a lot of time and money there but just cant bring ourselves to go back

Absolutely delicious! I love the sushi and all the fun special rolls! Great service....The sushi tends to be a little expensive but for the food your getting it never bothered me!

Definitely one of the best foods in Putnam and Weschester. Great service too. I have yet to find a better place for sushi in 30 miles.
