After our wedding was over I was set on indulging in my one food vice I had avoided for months: fried chicken. My husband agreed, but only if we found a good, Southern style restaurant, he refused to do KFC, and I agreed. After finding LL Dent online, and looking at their menu, we decided to trek out to Long Island. It was worth the trip. The place was empty, but they did a fair amount of take out business while we were there. The waiter was very friendly and quick, although the food did take a little while- but was worth waiting for. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which are amazing, and served with a dipping sauce like what you get with the bloomin onion. I had fried chicken (they gave me a choice of white or dark meet) which was totally awesome. Classic, moist, crunchy fried chicken. My husband got a half rack of ribs which literally fell off the bone. You didnt even need to use your teeth. We shared sides of sweet potato fries (which were ok, nothing spectacular), and collard greens with smoked turkey, which were freaking delicious. We also each had a side (hey, I said we just got married, right?) of baked mac and cheese, which was served as a "patty", so the outside was all crispy. To top it off, they brought out some yummy, warm cornbread. We washed it all down with a few beers (they have a pretty decent selection, all bottles). Dessert looked tempting, but I literally couldnt eat another bite. So if youre trying to eat healthy, this place is definitely not for you. But if youre in the mood to treat yourself and youre into Southern style cooking, DEFINITELY visit LL Dent.

This is a southern food restaurant. When we walked into brunch on a Sunday early afternoon, we were warmly greeted by the hostess. Sunday brunch is a lavish buffet, which is served by one of the chefs, and another employee from behind the counter. There was smothered chicken, fried catfish, salmon croquettes, ribs, white rice with sausage gravy, dirty rice, mashed potatoes, home fries, mixed vegetables, omelettes made to order, waffles made to ordered served with your choice of fruit and whipped cream, syrup, butter; sweet potato pancakes, turkey legs, biscuits, cornbread squares, and dessert. The buffet included any type of non alcoholic beverages, including southern sweet tea. YUM. The chef, who is the owners daughter, came around to every table to speak to us. The food was delicious. The wait staff served the beverages, and brought us anything we wanted. There is a full service bar. Alcoholic drinks are available at an additional cost. The food was wonderful. It was like eating in my southern grandmothers back porch in South Carolina. I would recommend it. And I would definitely go back. There are around 12 tables. It is a small restaurant. Prices are reasonable. There is a full menu for lunch and dinner during the week and dinner on Sunday night.

Houstons closed at Roosevelt field made us give this a try. Big Mistake!! If you know good soul food you will be disappointed. Perhaps area residents with no exposure to good southern food might enjoy it. As a cook I know good and bad. Ordered smothered pork chops. Result was fried porkchop with a little gravy poured on it, had to cut with a knife and it was hard. Smothered chops should be tender enough to cut with a fork!! Mine are!! Wife had mac n cheese. It was cheesy but no flavor. That comes from inexpensive cheese. As a cook I know when people cut corners!! To be fair the cornbread was warm and good. The collard greens were the best thing about the meal. I at mine and my wifes. She ordered fried chicken to be safe she said. WRONG!! It was over cooked which made it dry and hard. Female receptionist (low cut) should be taught how to smile and how to present a welcoming feeling. No complaints on the young waiter Brandon. He was good and did his job well. I love good food and try to support black owned business but...... I just cant!! Wont be back!!

I went to the restaurant for the first time today. Omg, the friend chicken wings and corn bread was AMAZING. The staff and owners are so pleasant. They make you feel like you having dinner with family. The wait for the food is a little long, but that is because you are getting things freshly made as noted on their website. This will be my new hotspot. It is close to shopping and the prices do not break the bank. It is hard to find a place to serve good food AND have a pleasant staff. This is what sets LL Dent different from the rest. That type of hospitality and service will keep them in business for years to come. My scale my not appreciate my visits, but you only live once. Kudos and much success and prosperity to you LL Dent family.

The Cajun chicken is delicious. However. The attitude of the chef and the man at the desk was very impolite. I drove 30 minutes to try this food out but I was disappointed by their behavior. For a Saturday evening the place was pretty empty and I feel like it was because of the owners attitude because its definitely not the food. The food was great, but it wasnt good enough for me to return and spend that amount of money to be treated like a nuisance especially since I drove that far. Its unfortunate they werent better with customer service otherwise theyd have a loyal customer. But good food isnt rare and I didnt deserve the attitudes. Wont be returning unless Im in the area and feel for southern cooking

Excellent food, warm friendly service. Clean comfortable environment . Nice size portion, fair pricing.Food was well seasoned. Fried green tomatoes were lightly battered and not greasy. Turkey wings were delicious as was the mac & cheese. I also enjoyed the collard greens even though I prefer my greens chopped fine. They werent too big. I had the cinna-mint tea. Soooo good my first time trying it. I had the opportunity to chat with Lillian Dent & her daughter/ Chef. They are both delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant . I was there on a Friday evening. Arrived at 7pm. I intend to come again . Plenty Parking

AWFUL!!!! I have been in the food service industry for 30 years. I have been a Chef for over 20yrs.. The food at LLdent was so bad, I could not believe it. They left a comment card with my check,, so I filled it out (honestly). The biggest problem I had with this place was that there were 2 bites of food taken from everyones plate and the waitress(who seemed like the chefs mother) did not even ask if there was a problem with the food. To top it off. I did not recieve a call about the comment card. I guess they feel like they are doing a good job there.. Well I am here to tell you. YOUR LACK OF EFFORT IS EVIDENT.

Very randomly went to Sunday brunch, stuck out like a sore thumb but was made professionally welcome. Food was perfect, everything tasted like it was made with love. While the brunch "for us" wasnt inexpensive the small plate and half portions (ex. fried chicken breast, ribs, deserts) and. non-self serve buffet was a strong brake on a rolling thunder of a restaurant. Will try the lunch for a more conventional experience soon. Everyone must try this real deal real food restaurant at least once. Nothings perfect but LL Dent is the closest youll get.
