Almost left crying at the horrible experience my husband and kids had to endure! Our waitress, Louisa immediately started complaining that she usually works nights at the bar and has been there only a month..so all the questions we are asking about the menu she has no answer for.. We ordered scrambled eggs turkey sausage, soul sampler and fried chicken with mac n cheese and fries. 47 minutes later...after a customer that arrived after us started complaining where is her order..she has to get back to work she was immediately served..the waitress said her order was ready first...huh.? We received a cheese omelette, cold fries, chicken tasting like fish, cold mac n hard cheese...a soggy bland sampler...some ketchup on the side, and a bill for $48...very sad when my husband asked to speak to chef...she looked worried and said sorry...sorry.......and started blaming order taker and vice versa.... so sorry for trying to support the local business....lost a customer...five spot gets a -1 star!

I came upon this spot while waiting for my order of Chinese food. I saw there was slices of red velvet cake and sweet potato pies. Since I ordered food I thought this would make a good dessert and give me an introduction to the place. I noticed that the red velvet frosting which is normally white, was a yellow color I was thinking theyve might have left a different type of frosting or it might have been left out for a long time. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and took the cake home. I tastes they cake and it was the WORSE piece of cake I ever had in my life!! I think that cake must have been left out for weeks and it was a complete waste of my money. I was going to buy food from them the following week, but if this is ow they take care of and sever their cake their food quality will be just as bad. Will NEVER go back to this place I dont even want to ask for my money back they just lost me as a potential customer. STAY AWAY

Im a DJ. I go there for the open turntable sessions on Monday. I went three weeks ago, and it was cool. The following Monday, they had some Michael Jackson thing, which was understandable. That was unpredictable. I decided that I should call from then on. The next Monday I called and they said the open turntable session was on. I got there and it was cancelled due to an open mic show. Even at the door the manager said it was on. When I got to the stage, the performers said the turntables had to come down to make room for the band. After that I decided to never go back again. The equipment and sound is crap, and they are unorganized. My friend and his girlfriend ate there and said the food was bad as well. Save your money and go somewhere else!

Horrible! Food was not fresh, seems as if everything was microwaved. I had chicken & 7 cheese Mac & cheese. The mac wasnt even regular macaroni, it was Ziti noodles. The shyt was mad dry and old tasting. The chicken & Mac was Bland. Im black & expected a "Soul Food" Spot to have tasteful seasoned food. Disappointed, spent $40 on this bullshyt & even tipped the delivery lady $5 for bringing me this bullshyt. I even ordered banana pudding and red velvet cake. The cake was hard and the pudding cream was a mustard yellow color. I hate to talk negative about a soul food spot but the truth is the truth. Dont waste your money here, they can have that old ass food.

Found this restaurant just passing by and wanted a quick bite. Ordered the Catfish PoBoy and a side of fries. The total for both was about $14 (overpriced considering how I couldnt even finish eating my meal). It took longer than expected to come out considering that my friend and I were the only people there and he ordered food that was already ready at the counter. Both the PoBoy and fries were soggy, like they had been microwaved instead of freshly fried. I had to throw my food out after a couple bites because it simply wasnt good. My friend had the meatloaf and mac and cheese, both of which were bland and greasy. Very disappointed in the food.

I give it 2 stars simply because of the service and the atmosphere. It is definitely not the "soul food" that I expect to get when I see the words soul food. The food wasnt seasoned well; it felt like I was just eating deep fried batter and a little bit of fish / crab / shrimp...couldnt tell the difference between the 3. Maybe I need to try more things, but I am less likely to go back now. However, the service staff was great. We ordered from the bar, and the girl working was very nice and made us feel so welcome :) We did go at around 10pm...so maybe the food was just leftover from the day...I dont know...

Me and my party came upon this restaurant so we decided to try it. It was brunch time and we ordered $9.00 brunch. It took a while to get food but the wait was worth it. The food was just right. It was seasoned right. Sometime soul food tends to be too salty. My one problem was the trickery with the price. The waitress gave us a bill with the regular price of the food instead of the brunch menue price. I didnt understand why she did that. She claimed she made the correction but failed to give us the itemize bill to see what she had done. So all I have to say is watch your bill carefully.

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORSE SOUL FOOD SPOT I HAVE BEEN TO!!! The service sucked and the food was DISGUSTING!! My grits were swimming in oil, they waited a good 30mins before telling me they had no salmon so i reordered my food and went with the grill pork chops (which still took forever). They turned out to be high blood pressure off the grill......NOTHING BUT SALT!! Thank God for the garden salad i ordered on the side. The owner/manager was RUDE and not once did she apologize for the HORRIFIC service. I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy.......truly disappointed

I paid $27 for chicken and waffles and shrimp with grits and let me tell you that food was disgusting! Grits had an earwax after taste shrimp was overcooked and dry the homemade tarter sauce was even nasty. Both chicken and shrimp taste like it wasnt cleaned before cooking even the red velvet waffles was nasty. And my order took almost 2 hours to be delivered! Do not eat this nasty ass food! I only gave it 1 star because I dont know how to give my review and give 0 stars

Yesterday I ordered the truffled mac and & 7 cheeses with chorizo and shrimp. It was amazingly moist, creamy and cheesey. The portion was so large it was enough to fill my self and friend. Also we order the blue point oyster on the half shell. They were sooo fresh you can taste the sea water in the half shell. The delivery was very fast and the guy was very friendly on the phone. This place rocks! I will be ordering from five spot again!

The service was good but the food was DISGUSTING!!!! I ordered jerk chicken, mac + cheese, collards and black eyed peas. Too expensive $16. The chicken was undercooked and pink. One piece of it was bloody. The peas were bland and tastless. The collards were OK and the macarroni wasnt bad. The dining area was dark, gloomy and untidy. I would not recommend this place. Unreasonable pricing for horrible food. Never going back there.
