OVERALL: Highly recommended. Great food, service and overall vibe. Good hangout.++++ FOOD: Good coffee. Great menu with enough variety. Reasonably priced in my view. All food is made-to-order pretty much in front of you: its all fresh and organic. I really enjoy their financiers (: especially the raspberry and pistachio :); "Best Bagel Sandwich In The World" with soft Everything Bagels, egg scramble, spicy habanero sauce; 3-Egg Scramble with Spinach, Leek on Garlic Olive Oil soaked toast; Spicy Eggs and Potatoes, Spinach-Rice-Egg (: with very tasty Zaatar powder :) Brekkie Bowl, I have only tried the regular Americano so far and Id say it is good.++++ PRICE: Reasonable considering other similar setups. As a very broad indicator Id say youre looking at $12-15 per person for coffee + 1 menu item + 10-15% tip.++++ SERVICE: Staff are friendly and efficient. Order and collect at counter for Coffee and snacks. Table service for menu items.++++ AMBIANCE: Simple. Laid-back. Pleasant. Has some sit-out space under the awning. Feels a bit "crowded" but really enough seating for a café with power outlets at every other seat for those who need to use their devices for a longer period. Quite cozy. Clean. Music playing. Free wi-fi. Generally busy place. Good vibes. Nice crowd. Lotsa cuties.++++ LOCATION: Easy to find. Almost right opposite Cortelyou Rd (:Q:) subway stop.

Love this place -- delicious and utterly without pretention. April Bloomfield could learn a thing or two here about how to put very tasty food on a plate attractively and fast. Imaginative menu; delicious hot coffee in large cups; friendly, willing and able service. The food is beautifully served, artfully arranged on the plates with all kinds of surprising, tasty garnishes. If youre lucky enough to get here early in the day when they still have some pistachio macaroons (like the traditional Italian almond versions, not the silly, ubiquitous French macaron) buy half a dozen to take out -- youll wish you did, if you dont. This crowded, buzzy place is always worth the trip from the Upper West Side for a late breakfast, especially as the jaunt is a good excuse to drop in on the wonderfully uncrowded Brooklyn Museum afterwards to while away hours of civilized bliss. Its also a good place for a bite if youre heading to an event at the extraordinary, refurbished Kings Theater, nearby on Flatbush. Actually, forget April Bloomfield -- her hyped, Emperors New Chefs food is artless, careless and lies heavy on the plate and in the stomach compared to what you get in this hopping, happy joint.

I like Cafe Madeline mostly because theyre a coffice and there arent many cafes like that around this part of town. I think the food ordering process is a little overwhelming and messy as you have to order by the counter, pick up your coffee right there but then they bring the food to you wherever youre sitting. Theres usually a line to order but the menus are at the register so you actually have to wait till you get there before checking out the menu. Which means making everyone wait for you to figure out what you might want to eat. I am a fan of the crispy Eggs platter and the French plate. Both Super solid and healthy breakfast option. I also love their fresh squeezed juices. They are a little overpriced but I assume it incorporates the fact that a lot of people end up working there for hours without ordering anything. I think occasionally the staff may have a little attitude but I think if the ordering process might change, they might be less overwhelmed.

Not sure why I havent written a review for this place, as Ive been coming here for at least a year now and have never had a bad experience. Their food is top notch. My favorites gotta be the Grilled Cheese Omelette. Everything on the menu is a tiny bit pricier than most places, but as soon as you see the food youll understand why. Everything tastes amazing and their plating is on another level. As far as coffee goes, their cold brew is super solid, but I recommend trying the Macadamia Latte—hot or iced—with just a little agave. The best part about this place is that its huge, beautiful, and bright. It gets busy but theres almost always one or two seats up for grabs, and plenty of places to plug in if you need to charge up your phone or use your laptop. Its a great place to sit down for a while and get some work done.

The best cafe in the neighborhood! Cafe Madeline has the warmest, coziest atmosphere. Their orange juice is to die for- their orange press sits directly behind the registers so you can watch them make your cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. The ABC sandwich is one of the best things on the menu- ask for a substitution of an everything bagel and it is SOOOO good. The eggs are fluffy, the bacon is thick cut and meaty, and the cute garnishment of cucumber and pomegranate seeds are pretty and delicious. If you like to work on your laptop in cafes, check out the back room which is loaded with outlets. They have free wifi :)

This place definitely deserves the high ratings its received from other reviewers. I got a regular black coffee (comes with a free refill if you take it for there), and the Madeline BLT. Be forewarned, the sandwiches are not small. I hadnt read the menu too closely, but it turned out to be a very unconventional but really delightful take on the BLT with sun dried tomatoes and I think kale (some green was involved that wasnt a lettuce). 5 stars for Cafe Madeline. If Im back in Brooklyn any time soon, Ill definitely check in on this place again.

The food is good, really good, and the kitchen staff works their asses off. But it is offensively overpriced, (expect to spend $40+ for two) and ridiculously overcrowded (the line to order is often out the door, and the wait for your food is longer and longer). It is never a pleasant experience to eat here, the food is not unique and there are no earth shattering revelations in their "specials". But unfortunately its slim pickings in the neighborhood. Often feels like you are part of a sociological experiment.

Madeline has changed quite a bit since its conception and it took me a while to come to loving this place again. Their menu is absolutely unique, healthy and delicious. Their ever evolving coffee drinks are magical! My latest favorite is their rose latte. The ordering can be a bit hectic so grab a menu by the register and give yourself time to read though all the deliciousness. Their kitchen is in the front as well and it can get smoky at times, a great place to warm up in the fall/winter.

Coffee is excellent.....food is great.....staff is a little strange at least on the day I went...not very personable...when I approached the counter the guy just stared at me and raised his brows at me as if to say : "what do you want" made me feel extremely awkward....like I wasnt supposed to be there or I was doing something wrong....as a fellow barista...here is a little advice: GREET YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!! and if its not too much trouble maybe a smile....a grin...and eye wink...something

Delicious food, super interesting drink choices, pleasant staff. Basic surroundings and aggressive price point even for the area. Initially I gave this place 4 stars, but I really have to bump off one more star for the prices. Really, 40 bucks for two for breakfast is too much. We had egg biscuit sandwich, egg/taco plate, 2 coffees and a kombucha. Food IS delicious but surroundings are ugly, place is noisy and people camp out with their laptops. Overall not worth it.
