listen to the other customers!! This place definitely sucks. We went on mothers day and that was a mistake. The selections were extremely limited. They didnt even have ranch dressing for the salad. smh. The salmon tasted as if it wasnt cleaned prior to cooking and it tasted fishy. The steak wasnt worth the price at all. I should of walked out when they bought out A1 sauce after i ordered the steak. Restaurants that cost $35 for Ny strip shouldnt have A1 steak sauce, at all. Addionally, the hostess was rude. We had a reservation that we were 10 minutes late for, due to terrible traffic. So we called to tell them that. The gentleman that answered the phone was kind and understanding. When we got there, the hostess was not. she stated no guy answered the phone and we would have to wait 20 minutes. she acted as if we made it up. She said she didnt know where we called but no guy picked up the phone. And of course the guy walked to the hostess desk and confirmed everything my wife was talking about. The hostess was speechless after that. Im giving this restaurant the benefit of doubt by saying that, i dont think they were prepared for the madness of Mothers day. Steps were undoubtedly skipped and it showed; ie, preparing the food, seasoning the food, cleaning the food, serving the food, pretty much everything. Lastly, I want to end on a good note. The manager was phenomenon. He was singing happy mothers day to other customers, which isnt my style but whatever. when we returned 1 item he came to the table and said he already removed it from our check. we told him about a second dish, and without hesitation he removed that item too. His professionism was amazing. Through all the chaos he remained a professional. Classy. Pros Manager Cons everything else

If you like to waste money and eat mediocre seafood., then this is the restaurant for you! I should have know better when there were no delicious smells wafting through the air like other City Island restaurants. The only reason we went here was because Sammys (across the street) had a long wait line and my mother in law needed to eat something fast. I do not recommend the broiled salmon which I order. It was a bit fatty, tasteless and had no flavor. The potatoes were a bit oily and the broccoli was just as a bland. The lobster bisque tasted like something out of a can. There was a very small chunk of lobster in it to know that it was even a lobster bisque. It was not good. My family was mildly satisfied with their food which consisted of Jumbo Fried shrimp and Baby back ribs. Overall the food was VERY DISAPPOINTING and service was a bit slow. Though our waiter was very nice. Please note we went on Mothers day(May 8,2016) which only has a limited (holiday) menu. However if this is the quality of food given on a limited menu I can only imagine the other items on there. Do they have holiday chefs as well? I would definitely recommend choosing another place even if the wait is long. I would never visit this establishment again. All food is not created equal on City Island.

Okay so ,,I had the baked clams which was not a good choice. They were browned on top but raw inside. I asked the waiter about it and he immediately said hold on I will get the manager..the manager came who insisted they were cooked..he took the plate which had six pieces and came back with four..they were burned now on top but still raw inside...I just placed it to the side...I also had mozzarella sticks that had a very thick and hard breading..I just ate around the breading and ate the cheese part...The lobster tail was not seasoned and the steak was below average. The reason I gave a single star is because I ordered the Alaskan king crab legs to go ..they came split already so I seasoned them a Lil at home so they were great and plentiful. .and the waiter was not hortific...My bill was enormous and the experience was mostly terrible...very over priced ..I do not recommend this the Lobster Box in city Island

Worst place in City Island from a service standpoint, My waiter seemed to be on something. first we were seated right away waiter came by right away to take order with giving us time to look over menu. Order drinks, took 30 minutes and he blamed bartender. ordered food took 50 minutes he blamed kitchen, and said he had to make the salad himself! then we ordered a ginger ale and some other drinks. at this point our waiter disappeared and I had to go to the bar myself to get my ginger ale and drinks. $260.00 later (party of four) I had to tell the Manager about our experience Enrique I believe. he apologized and explained I should have told him sooner he would of taken care of us. I let him know its not about a comp dish or drink that it was unacceptable service by one of his staff members. he gave me his card and told me to come back he would "take care of us" . No thanks I will spend my money elsewhere.

Highly disappointed in this place. We had a group of 5 of us, and barely liked any of the food. The lobster tail and almond crusted salmon were both good. The fried seafood platter was terrible. The fried scallops, filet, and calamari were all almost inedible, although I did like the fried shrimp. We ordered a filet mignon w/ the lobster tail, and that was decent, but dry as hell. We also had a lobster bisque which tasted more like tomato soup than anything else. We didnt order a ton of food...3 main dishes for 5 adults, and it was the perfect portion amount, unlike most visits to City Island where you end up with multiple doggy bags. Total was about $140 for the 5 of us. Overall, i would not recommend.

than the typical big tourist seafood restaurant. I dont know for sure, but it seems like its run by a family, and they clearly care about what they are doing. Ive been there several times, and the food has always been very good. The raw oysters are reasonable at $18/dz (a block away theyre $21+), but to me what makes it exceptional is you dont have the feeling that you are being processed like the restaurants in Disney World or other touristy spots, or even the other big restaurants on City Island. Its not the little diner on the corner, theres lots of seats of hungry people to fill, but I think they do a real good job at it, and they seem to genuinely care.
