Ive been to this establishment twice. It was an impromptu date with my love and we ended up at Ocean. I loved my first experience so much; the beach, the view, the staff, the food, and the wine. I heard about the restaurant from a colleague a few years back, so I was excited to finally have lunch there. Because of that experience, I decided to have my 40th birthday brunch with my girlfriends over there, too. However, the 2nd time around paled in comparison to the first time. On August 27, 2017, I was thoroughly embarrassed and disappointed in the treatment we received from the moment we entered Ocean. As the afternoon progressed, I realized there were at least three managers on the floor. The first manager was at the podium with the maitred when I walked in. Not once did he acknowledge my presence, but, too add insult to injury, he answered the phone and made a couple of phone calls while I stood there awaiting at least someone to say hello. After he was done with his last call, this "manager" walks away without saying hello or informing me that the maitred would be right with me. Foreshadowing?!! Finally, the visibly flustered maitred greets me and I tell her that I was the reservation for 7. I inform her that I knew there was a wait to be seated outside, but I would have preferred to be seated outside as I was celebrating with my friends who had never been to the restaurant. At first, she laments there are no seats available and there wouldnt be any seats available in the near future. Unbothered by her first assertion, she later understood that we would prefer to sit outside. All of sudden, another maitred #2 gets involved. Why?! She also became visibly annoyed, but never addressing me. Mind you I"m standing less than a ft away from them. Finally, manager#2, who I later learned to be Tommy, came over and asked about my reservation. After briefly explaining to Tommy why I wanted to be seated outside, he assured us that we would be seated; however, there was await. Weve now been waiting for twenty minutes. Nonplussed by the wait, I ask where my party could wait. Tommy seats us inside and I hear him tell the maitred- dont forget them. Tommy would wind up being our go to person for the entire ordeal. You see, after we are finally seated, the waitstaff suddenly disappears. No one- I mean no one comes to our table to offer us water or provide us with the menu. Thinking this is personal, for a number of reasons, I make a beeline for the maitred. I finally get her attention and exclaim that we are sitting outside for 15 minutes without anyone addressing us. She says, "were short staffed", "Im looking for a manager, but I cant find anyone".W.T.F. Shes flustered because other patrons are asking her about seats etc...how cant you find a manager?! I digress. As luck would have it, the patron was a restaurant owner herself. She also expressed her dismay with the service. As we are all standing in the gulley, Manager#1 and Female Manager appear. I address Manager#1 about the subpar service my group has received since we entered and I expected better service. Female Manager speaks up and says that someone would be with me. At that moment, Tommy appears. Tommy is like-"I got this." Tommy, to his credit, made the rest of the experience as pleasant as could be. Even when the waiter accidentally dropped wine on one of my guests, Tommy apologized profusely and comped that drink. Actually, Tommy tried and did make up for the horrible treatment we had at the beginning of our visit. Nevertheless, for an event hall/restaurant that is supposed to cater to parties/large groups, my group didnt receive the stellar service that we should have. Tommy shouldnt have had to serve, take our order, or monitor the staff when they were serving us. I gave my experience a strong 2! for Tommy. I am not trying to persuade you against patronizing the business, but be wary.

I had planned my 50th birthday celebration and until the actual day of the event was very pleased. On the day of the event, which should have been without consequence, my friends and I were met with the closure of the Bayville Bridge- with NO WORD from anyone at Ocean who was asissting the planning of the event. Our GPS sent us in circles and I was extermely upset as I didnt want to be late for my own party and we had some setting up to do. In addition, I was concerned that my 30 guests would not arrive on time. When I arrived and was met by a man who I was told was the owner, he was in no uncertain terms, the worst business man I have ever met. His response to my concerns, ( and least we forget- I was footing the 1000 bill) was " its been closed since December". Well that might be true- but I dont live local. Nor do my guests. Apparently there was notice in the website and direction cards to patrons as to how to get out of Baycille- but no one thought to advise me so I could tell me guests? Even worse- the owner was NASTY and INDIGNANT and almost ruined my day. While they did "open" the bar for us as consolation, the service SUCKED although the servers were very nice. There were thirty people and half of the people were finished with their meal before the other half sere served. I dont know but where I come from- the persons whose event it is is served first- not last- dont you think? They got at least a 1/2 of the orders wrong, food came out cold. They were ill prepared for the day. I am still upset a day I have waited for in great anticipation was marred by the ASS of an owner and the catering manager who told me I aas WRONG- that when I came to book the party- the bridge was closed. Really? I was wrong? Were you in the car with me Patty? Shame on you for ruining my day. DO NOT BOOK A PARTY HERE You will be terribly dissapointed as I was

Last night I went to Oceans for an engagement party dinner that included a party of 25. The ambience was beautiful there was a view of the ocean. The wait staff was very professional very friendly attentive and assertive. There was prefixed 4 course menu. The first course was the signature oceans salad which included fresh Field greens baby spinach roasted beets feta cheese and an apple vinaigrette dressing. The salad was amazing very delicious. The second course was a choice between fried calamari or chicken parmesan sliders as an appetizer. Both were delicious. For the main course there was a option between salmon or sirloin steak. I picked the steak and it was very good. The french fries accompanied the steak and the fries were delicious. The last course was assorted desserts which included a fried Oreo cookie baked oatmeal cookie with a shot of milk chocolate mousse and strawberry and whipped cream the dessert was delicious. Then they served a choice of an assorted tease coffee cappuccino or expresso. The coffee was very fresh and strong. Overall I would write oceans 4.5 Stars very good atmosphere delicious food and polite and professional wait staff.

i have been a regular customer of this restaurant for over 5 years and have regularly posted photos of the beauiful views. Having said that, the service this year and the management has been extremely subpar especially in view of the prices that you pay for these views.Last nite (7/23) was perhaps the worst example. The soup was cold, the fish (swordfish) was horrible, and the service was worse than both. When I complained to the waiter his answer was mine was the only complaint of the night and " please dont hold it against him" (meaning give me a tip as all was good). The manager finallu came over to apologize and his concession was to offer 2 free desserts (to a table of 4). I wont be back tille they change staffs ( which usually turns over 3 times a year: what a shame- nice views- horrible food and service
