This place has the right name, Shipwreck, because thats how our meal turned out. My husband and I, along with 2 friends went to celebrate Valentines Day and wedding anniversary. We ordered cocktails - mine, a Berrytini and my girlfriend, the Sangria boasting of a myriad of fruit and liquors. One tiny sliver of a pear was in her glass filled with ice. When I tasted it my martini, it was full of sour mix. We couldnt find our waitress for over 15 minutes. When she finally did show up, and we told her about the drink. She had a look of disgust on her face, like, how dare we complain! She offered up a different drink. I asked for a regular raspberry martini, which again was poor quality. Next, a large scone was brought to the table. Smelled good, tasted nice. But, our waitress brought a small plate with a quarter size dollop of butter and their house olive butter to try. I assumed she was going to bring more depending on which type we preferred. There were 4 of us with a large scone each. We all finished this bread with our waitress never coming into sight so we could get more butter. Needless to say, this was unacceptable. We then ordered our meal which was $5.00 more on the special Valentines menu than the online menu and the one posted in the entranceway. I assume that covered the cost of the rose each lady was given upon arriving. My husband ordered the Porterhouse, very rare. I ordered Surf and Turf, medium. When the meal arrived, I cut into my steak and it was practically raw. It was also half the size of the people next to us that had a beautifully rounded filet mignon. Mine looked like a turd my dog left on the lawn. Apparently I was told this was a cut closer to the end of the filet. My husbands steak was well done. I also ordered the twice baked potato. Nowhere on the menu did it say it came stuffed with sour cream, bacon and chives. When the waitress finally showed up again, I asked for a new potato, plain with extra butter (I was afraid of getting that quarter sized dollop again.) I waited over 25 minutes for a half potato. Apologies were extended as they had to make me one special ordered? Are you kidding me? Dont tell me every stinking potato was already made up with none in reserve, plain. That is just poor planning. And our party was the first to be scheduled at 4 PM!!! It wasnt like it was nearer to the end of the evening where theyre scrambling to feed everyone. Oh, and I must not forget the lobster tail. For a seashore restaurant, Ive had better, sweeter and more tender lobster tail at Red Lobster. This must have been sitting next to the already prepared potatoes. It was tough and dry on the exterior. The interior was chewy, but I managed to get part of it down with the little cup of melted butter they gave me. Why did the couple across from us have their waiter at their table every 5 minutes and we couldnt even locate ours for over 15 minutes? Why were all the other tables having tremendously attentive service and our waitress treated us like lepers? Everyone else had their drinks brought to them with the waiter carrying it on a tray - something done at an upscale restaurant. Our waitress carried it in her hands. She even plopped my newly made drink down in front of me, said, "Here you go" and turned on her heels and sped away. She didnt even offer to wait and ask me to try it to see if it was acceptable from the one I sent back. My husband had finally had enough and asked to speak to the manager. They sent over the owner who pretty much rushed us through our complaints. She spoke with the cook who figured out they must have read the order wrong and made my steak rare and his well done. Finally it was offered to send us home with new meals. In less than 5 minutes, the fastest service we had, she handed me a brown bag which contained 2 containers with a new steak for my husband and a new steak and lobster tail for me - no extra potato. So, our experience at the Shipwreck Point Restaurant was just that, a shipwreck. We can now say, been there, done that...never again.

My wife and I were looking to celebrate our anniversary last week. We have had several great experiences at Shipwreck Point in the past, and since it had been some time since we dined there, we decided to head back. With a toddler at home, we had to have an early meal, so we had the place to ourselves, which was nice. The service was great, the apps were tasty, but I really was disappointed when it came to the entree. My wife and I always order our steaks rare, and this was no exception. She ordered the filet and I went with the ribeye. When they came out, hers was rare. It was cooked exactly how she wanted it. Mine was closer to well done, and was hardly even pink in the middle, with no sign of red anywhere. I rarely send back a meal. I dont want to be that guy. In this case, since it was so overcooked, I apologetically asked for a new meal. She handled it as professionally as I could ask for, which made me feel better about sending it back (which I hate doing). What disappointed me was the fact that she came back out to the table and told us that the lighting in the restaurant can make a steak look rare in the back and well done in the dining room. I can only assume she was told to relay this info to us, since she did not exactly say it with confidence. The idea that lighting can make such a difference seems absurd to me. First, it was daylight out and we sat by the window. So the lighting was from the sun, and not a bulb. Second, my wifes filet came out exactly the way she wanted it. Does the lighting not affect certain cuts of meat? I didnt need an excuse for why it was overdone. Mistakes are made, and I am a very forgiving person. But if you feel the need to give me a reason why something did not go as intended, please do me a favor, and do not give me a load of crap. As much as we loved the service and the atmosphere, we wont be back. Simply not worth it to us. But if you do go, and you want a rare steak, make sure its after dark.

Went with a party of 6 last night. For the most part 4 out of 6 dinners were good. They start with popovers which I believe should be served warm. Its a easy touch that diners welcome...not sure why this expensive restaurant would not serve that way. A small dish of butter pats arrived...3 regular and 3 with some pickled concoction on it. No one liked the pickled variety and the 3 small pats disappeared right away. We asked for additional butter . A small plate arrived with 1 pat of butter and another pat of pickled arrived. Obviously butter is at a premium here. Appetizers arrived and the oysters were excellent...everyone seemed to enjoy whatever they had. AND NOW the main course. Myself and another person ordered the Peppercorn crusted seared tuna, wasabi mashed potatoes, teriyaki drizzle, julienne vegetables. When the dish came I should have stopped them right away but with a party of 6 I didnt want to hold anyone up with eating their entree. The tuna was drenched not drizzled in what they said was a teriyaki drizzle. Drizzle allows the diner to enjoy the tuna as a flavor enhancement. Our 2 plates looked like they took the tuna and completely drowned it in this teriyaki glaze that obviously came right out of a bottle. IT WAS BAD. I had a few bites and put it to the side. The mashed potatoes had no taste whatsoever. I was so disappointed. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals....I wish I had ordered something else because this dish was all wrong. I had to look up the menu to read the description of the dish to make sure I didnt miss something. I didnt. There are several other dining choices in the area that pay attention to detail and warrant the prices they request for meals...not sure if this place fits that description. Will not be returning
