Best Birthday Ever!!! For my Birthday I wanted to have caribbean food because I was born and raised in the Caribbean and I wanted my guest to enjoy the Caribbean Cuisine as well. I searched online for an up scale Jamaican Restaurant and came across Hibuscus Restaurants Website. After reading the reviews. I got so excited, I called the following day, and made reservations. Two days before my dinner plans I wanted to make certain, there was sufficient parking for my guest... So I did some follow-up research and realized the restaurant was located inside the Best Western. This discouraged me a little; but when I called the restaurant they reassured that it was going to be worth it. Well... I am soooo glad I didnt cancel. When we arrived the entrance was near the parking lot which made it easy to access the Restaurant. Just down a few stairs and youre there. The steel pan playing caught my ears as I walked down the stairs... the friendly staff greeted my party and I so warm and welcoming I felt as if theyve met us before; They also ensured that everyone was comfortable and well taken care of throughout the night. The food was FANTASTIC; Of a party of 10 everyone loved their selection... Overall the evinvironment was exactly what I wanted... I give them a 10... If you are like me and want a little touch of home this is where you want to be. If you want to experience something different this is where you want to be. If you just want good caribbean food with good vibes this is where you want to be. I promise, you wont be disappointed. If I had to say one negative...I would say that they didnt put enough sweet plantain on my plate!! Honestly though I had an awesome birthday and I would like to thank the Manager and Staff at Hibiscus for contributing towards that! If you didnt read all of that just go and try it for yourself you wont regret it!

Ive been to this restaurant twice. The food is great and the live entertainment is excellent. The first time the service was slow, but the food & entertainment was great. My second visit was a horrible experience. We waited approximately 20 minutes before we were seated even though we had reservations. Then they forgot to put our order in. We noticed people who came in after us were eating while we were still waiting for our food. I asked the waitress what happen to our food and she apologized and said our order was overlooked. We were there 1.5 hours before we got our food. The waitress said not to worry she would take care of us. When I received my order my entrée was salty. However, besides that everything else was good. When we got ready to leave the waitress that told us she would take care of us was no where to be found. Therefore, they never made up for the inconvenience and bad service we received. We went there the day before Mothers Day and had plan to go out after dinner but our plans were ruin due to the length of time it took to receive our dinner. The food is good but they really need to improve their service. Due to this last experience I probably will not return again, which is very sad since the food is good. POOR SERVICE!!

My husband and myself along with another couple went to Hibiscus for dinner the Saturday of the Labor Day weekend. They had live piano music and the atmosphere was great. Our waitress--Celine--was awesome and very knowledgeable. Since one of us was expecting, she helped her order something authentic Caribbean, which was great and also adjusted the appetizer for us accordingly. I had the OxTails, and they were wonderfully delicious. The dessert--Rum Bread Pudding--was stellar and home-made. We would highly recommend this restaurant and, although they are "off the beaten path" in the Best Western in Morristown, dont let that stop you! Great food...great service...thank you to Celine & Winston...we will be back!!!

I was there last night with my husband. The food was outstanding! Great spices & cooked to perfection. We saw spectacular live jazz with no cover charge! For the quality of food, the prices were reasonable. The reason we give it four stars is for the service. Our waiter forgot our appetizer, and did not apologize when it finally came out. . . an hour later. He was pretty cold towards us & we did not feel welcome there. To my surprise, he also did not wrap up all the items on my plate, like I asked him to, which was a little strange. If the service was a little better, we would give it 5 stars. Regardless, I think it is definitely worth trying -- hopefully our service was just a fluke.

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Hibiscus last night, April 3, 2017. All I can say is what a fabulous , hidden gem! Warm and inviting, our server, Christine cared for us like a family member. Her suggestions were perfect and the food delicious and well garnished. I ordered the Stewed whole red snapper and my husband had the Roti with goat. Memorable flavors, not too heavy, just perfect for our taste. Hibiscus is a BYOB which makes it even more inviting. Music on weekends bring many to enjoy the sounds of muscians like Rio Clemente and others on piano. Looking forward to our next adventure to our hidden Morristown island treasure.

I ordered a Groupon to try this restaurant, which had good reviews. However, I had the worst experience. When I called to make a reservation, I had a table reserved. When Camille asked if I had any coupons, I said that I did have a Groupon. Camille then said that she would call me back. When she did, she said that the restaurant is now full and can no longer honor my original reservation. She obviously did not want to honor the Groupon even though it met all requirements: dine-in, dinner, not on a holiday or blackout dates, etc. Because of this, I will never ever go to Hibiscus. Very dishonest people!

We celebrated my friends 40th birthday at Hibiscus and we are so glad we found this place. My friend had made the request to her husband that she wanted to go somewhere that served Carribean food and had music. I told my friends husband that I would help him find a place. Hibiscus was an answered prayer. It had delicious food and the ambiance was perfect. Also the vocalist and musician were amazing. Will I go back...most definitely!!!!!! Karilyn, the manager and staff were professional, courteous and amazing with all of us. We felt like we were with family. Cant wait to go back. Patricia J.

Had dinner at Hibiscus last night (4/25/15) with 2 other couples. After some initial misgivings about the location ( basement floor of a Best Western Motel ), we settled in for what turned out to be a fabulous meal with some wonderful nightclub jazz entertainment. Karlene was a wonderfully friendly and helpful "hostess" who gave us some great entree suggestions. High praise for both the special Chilean Sea Bass and the Rasta Pasta. A bit of uneven waitress service was more than offset by Karlenes friendliness ( thanks for the try-out of the rum bread pudding..delicious ). Would go back again.

Very disheartening experience at this restaurant. The food is tasty, but expect long waits, undesirable decor and horrible customer service from the hostess right up to the owner. They make frequent mistakes, but they dont own it. Until the owner understands the value of customer service, theyll never move out of the basement of The Best Western. Despite the good food, cant recommend this place. Theyre better off as a take-out venue. Saveur Creole in Montclair is your best bet for a good caribbean restaurant experience in NJ.
