Since Just Janice Cafe closed a few months ago, our new Sunday brunch designation became Cafe Amici (Ho-Ho-Kus). The outside seating, menu choices, service, and food quality have all been very enjoyable....until today. We arrived around 11:30AM to find the restaurant very quiet, with only 3 other tables filled. We ordered quickly, and the waitress, Heather, commented that she loves when tables know exactly what they want. About 15 minutes later only one of our meals came out. Heather said the other would be out in just a minute. Just a minute turned into just 15 minutes. I finished my entire meal and my partners meal still hadnt arrived. We had to ask her again to check on the status...mind you the restaurant was at less than 50% capacity. The second plate was finally brought out, with no explanation or apology. The meal was tasty, as it usually is, but we were very disappointed at the pompous, cafe-free attitude exuded by our waitress. When it came time to get the check, both meals were still listed. We always, always, always tip 20%+ tip and certainly dont look for handouts, but given the fact that we had become regular customers, and that my partners dish came out 15 minutes later, I figured the waitress would have done the right thing by removing one of the meals. Not so much, though. When we told her it would have been appropriate to do so, she said shed check with her manager. Upon her return, she said "the best I can do is a 10% discount". Not only was her attitude piss poor, but the fact that the manager didnt waive the meal (or come over to apologize) speaks VERY loudly about this restaurants desire to please its [repeat] customers. I strongly suggest avoiding this eatery. Just Janice should be reopening its doors very soon, and there is always the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn for a great meal. Based on other reviews, were not the first to experience very poor service here.

I visited this place today and the service was very terrible. I went with my friend and asked a waitress if we could seat near a window. She said "NO, not by the window." Few minutes later, a lady came in alone and she was allowed to seat right next to the window. I ordered only drinks, didnt feel like to order any food this time. The waitress left a bill right after she served our drinks. She kept asking "Is this ready yet?" What kind of service is it? We felt so bad so we just walked out. We didnt even like to finish our drinks since the waitress acted seriously rude and rushed on us with the bill. And even the drinks tastes so bad.

Far from a 4.2 star quality food and service. I dont visit any restaurant that is less that 4 stars and this is definitely no more than 2 or maybe 3 stars. The turkey burger was too dry, had poor flavor, and was excessively charred on the top. The pizza we ordered was too bulky, despite having being told it is thin crust, and had excessive cheese. We are used to NYC quality of food and this place was quite disappointing after we stopped there on our way back from a 4 hour hike in the Harriman park. The quality was very generous and that would explain the premium pricing. If youre looking for quality over quantity try other places.

The food is quite delicious and very well prepared - absolutely love the Buffalo chicken salad. They dont get 5 stars because every time I go, I ask for grilled chicken with the Buffalo sauce on the side and they always fight me on it saying they cant put the sauce on the side. Yet, once I finally get them to check with the kitchen, they have done it successfully more than 75% of the time. Its just the fact that they push back on it every time when it has been done multiple times before.

Excellent sandwiches and salads. Great atmosphere for casual dining in. We love grabbing their sandwiches to go mostly. Specials are always tasty as well. The only draw back is that there is no kids menu. I have been there with kids and they make chicken fingers and grilled cheese but its an adult sized portion so a bit of a waste on amount of food and price for a 3 and 5 year old.

While any restaurant can have its problems. Alberts Cafe Amici works hard to be accommodating both with hospitality and special food requests. The food is consistently great and they even offer wine from a NJ vineyard. Good for kids and families. Casual yet it has a rustic yet contemporary feel. Its always better when Albert is on the floor.

Food, place and service!! A great combo!! Out side dining is great when weather permits. Sandwiched between a convenience store and a bakery! Perfect place to eat and get other things done quickly like lotto, cigs and desserts ☕️

Wonderful meal here. Our table was served the watermelon salad, mussels in a creme sauce, and the Hawaiian fish special. All delicious. Attentive service and outdoor dining is a big plus. BYO. Easy to park. We will be back!
