The best part about the back room where we were seated was the mural on the wall. The (bagged) chips were thick and cold and lacked flavor & seasoning; the salsa was tomato sauce with too much spices, consequently was bitter. My husband asked for "something else" because I couldnt eat the salsa, the waitress suggested pico de gallo, which was good, but ended up costing us $2 a bowl. The coffee costs more than the soda or horchata! Whats up with that? The first bite of the enchilada sauce had a "canned" taste and resembled tomato soup in flavor more so than enchilada sauce. The music, once things quieted down enough so that we could hear, was not authentic to the restaurant: yeah, I like Tom Petty and some good ole rock & roll, but when dining out for Mexican food, I would prefer something other than what I normally can hear on my car radio. I feel sorry for anyone who considers this restaurants food good: we get better @Chevys and at better prices.

Chips tasted like they were days old and the salsa if you want to call it that was like water and didnt even taste good. Way overpriced for small proportions of food. I ordered the Baja which has a taco , tamale and chilrelano which was $14.00 and to top it off I was charged $2.00 more for having pork on my taco. The only reason I went is because I had seen their commercials and I had a 2 for 1 coupon. I definitely will not be going back. Even with the 2 for 1 coupon I felt like we still overpaid for such a below average meal.

I absolutely love this place! The staff is always attentive and friendly. The food is outstanding. Ive never had a bad experience here! I always get the mahi fish tacos and, wow, they truly are THE best fish tacos Ive ever had anywhere. Their margaritas are delish, but beware for those who are light drinkers, they are strong. The family always love getting the chile rellano, enchiladas, and taquitos, as they serve the best at El Adobe. We go there often, and in fact, Ill be going again tonight. Yummy!

Never disappointed! Mexican food is a dime a dozen in Reno and most establishments arent worth the aforementioned dime. El Adobe is! There drinks are excellent (try the Cadillac margarita or the guava daiquiri), the guacamole is unreal and the fish tacos are the best in town (Mahi Mahi). On top of all of the yumminess the service is top notch. If you havent been you should go and if you have? You should go again ;)

... This place is down the street from my house, so its easy. And, the food is on the cusp between good and great... But the prices... its just too much! Lunch just cost me $20- inc tip, thats for just me. If they brought there prices down by 10-20%, El Adobe would probably be one of the best Mexican restaurant in Reno. But thats obviously unlikely so ... 2 stars it is.

Recommended and well worth the search. Located in Midtown Reno, very eclectic area, near antique stores, off the main boulevard. This is an old school local Mexican restaurant, generous meal portions, strolling musicians, terrific drinks, very intimate setting. The food (especially the salsa) is outstanding - highly recommend the Chicken Mole.

I would and did recommend this place for some excellent mexican food! I had the Shrimp fajitas and was very surprised by the dish, as usually they are spicy without much flavor, but this dish was so packed with flavor! The service was the best Id had in years, and the coffee was AMAZING! Definitely going back soon!

EATERS BEWARE!!! 3 of our party of 4 came down with food poisoning!!! The drinks were the only part of my experience that was any good. They do have a good bartender. I would say the taco truck on Wells ave is 10xs better than this restaurant...
