What can best be described as Artisan BBQ has been developed and elevated by Sugarfire Smokehouse to a level far above any competitors at other St. Louis County BBQ restaurants. That expertise can now also be found at the new Sugarfire 44 in Valley Park! If you are traveling to or through St. Louis on Highway 44 this BBQ restaurant is a must visit at the Highway 141 exit in St. Louis County. Its just 100 feet off highway 44 and is THE place to try the latest in Artisan and top rated traditional BBQ. Many BBQ restaurants try to do Artisan BBQ but fall far short. Artisan BBQ is truly a creative culinary art form that few St. Louis county BBQ restaurants have mastered. Sugarfire is fortunate to have some culinary geniuses with vision and creativity to assemble incredible tasting sandwiches with complex yet complimentary flavors and textures. I know many BBQ lovers are traditionalist and prefer their usual BBQ ribs, or beef brisket every visit. They are fortunate that Sugarfire 44 cranks out some of the best BBQ ribs and brisket in West St. Louis County. I have found none better anywhere around here. To them Id say this. If you love BBQ brisket for example, go on a day they offer some form of an Artisan Brisket sandwich and just try it one time. Seriously you will be surprised at how good the "extras" with that simple but tasty beef can be. Sometimes they are really complex sandwiches, other times maybe just a good sandwich kicked up a notch, like my brisket with American and Swiss cheese, caramelized onions on toasted rye bread. Its seriously good! Ive had several Artisan sandwiches here as well as some traditional smoked meats and was very impressed with all of them. Be adventurous and try Sugarfire 44 as you drive through St. Louis and see what a little creativity and "out of the box" thinking can do to everyday BBQ. You wont be disappointed by this new West County BBQ restaurant!

Sadly enough, I heard great reviews on Sugarfire in general. Maybe it is just this place but I have never went to another. Here is what happened...... I went into this location today to get something special for my wife after just having a baby at the hospital right down the street. I went in and ordered items my wife wanted (which were listed directly on the menu). The lady behind the counter told me I could not order what I asked for. I then showed her were it was listed on the menu and she told me "well that doesnt make any sense why would we do that" I indicated that it is right on the menu and she said i am wrong. I then decided that it was not worth ordering any food and told her she should honor the menu. She proceeded to holler at me while walking out the door "well someday when I am in charge of making the menu I will correct it but its not my job for now" UNBELIEVABLE! I never even got a chance to taste the food in this place and yet find myself disgusted. I am not afraid to spend money on getting what I ask for but to tell me i cant when it is on the menu is totally crazy. That lady is doing no good for business here if that is how she treats all customers. What a shame. Please be advised that my review is not based on the quality of the food (since I have never had the chance to taste it) but rather on the low level of service I received. Hope the rest of you have a better experience but mine has been forever tainted!

Have no idea why there is anything less than 5 stars!! The place looked awesome!! This was my first time and all I can say is wow!!! Great service!! Mike (who took our order) was fantastic and definitely needs to remain at the front with customers!!!! Sarah (who checked us out) also had fantastic customer service!!!! Another guy (didnt catch his name [backwards hat]) even came by and took our plates while we chatted!! He was super friendly!!!! Food is absolutely amazing!!! Sauce is terrific (even bought two bottles to take home)!! Totally worth the hour drive and will for sure be coming back! I will be telling everyone I know! Keep up the great work ladies and gents!!!!

One thing I like about BBQ is the smoke taste on all the meat. I had a plate which had all their smoked meats and none of them tasted smokey. I looked at their brisket and while it was moist and tender it didnt have that smoke ring which I look for on BBQ. The same was true of the pulled pork and ribs. They serve all their meats with a very sweet bbq sauce, so if thats your thing, then you will probably like the meat drenched in BBQ sauce. I prefer meats without much if any sauce and so I was disappointed. It was like they cooked their meats in an oven - not a BBQ grill. Their sausage was very hot and spicy so I only had one bite. The baked beans are very sweet.

My family and I basically stumbled into this place. My eldest offspring had a haircut at Blu a Color Salon, and afterwards we were all starving. Sugarfire was right there, and we didnt even know what this place was. Oh man, we were more than pleasantly surprised! The whole set up is really great! However, the BBQ is terrific! It definitely rivals Southtown Pub on Kingshighway. My partner and I each had the brisket, which was awesome. One of my sides were black eyed peas, and they were amazing! A kids meal, with a side, and drink is only $6! And the desert menu was unbelievable! Really cool place! Laid back and casual.

Food was good for the most part. I had a brisket sandwich, ribtots, apple pie, and a white Russian shake. The cheese sauce on the sandwich ruined the sandwich for me, but every thing else was great. Near my table this weird bald guy kept making really sexual remarks to not only an employee but also a very young girl filling out an application. As he said " I aughta bend you over my knee" and "yeah Id look you up tonight but youd prolly like that too much". When I ordered my shake I told him I didnt like the sandwich I ordered and he made no attempt to help me get anything else or make any attempt to assure my next visit

The ribs were acceptable, but everything else, the sides and salmon specifically, was cold and unappealing, resembling school cafeteria lunch. Place was crowded, mostly because of the poor layout, with staff elbowing their way though the crowded hallway that serves as an entryway to the restaurant. Any food that requires any amount of time to prepare is stacked together and left to wait, we had to retrieve our food from someone who picked it up by mistake, the staff showing complete apathy when asked which order was which. The experience was overpriced for a place with no wait staff at all and mediocre food.

I just wanted to say that the staff at Sugarfire 44 is so kind! I submitted am online order to pick up for dinner, and unfortunately I got held up at work. I raced to get to the location before closing, and the staff was so nice to let me in and pick up my dinner. They were in the middle of full-blown closing duties, and could have been annoyed and rude. But they werent. I am so impressed by the customer service and kindness I was shown. Based on that alone, I would return again, and again. Id recommend Sugarfire 44 to anyone looking for some amazing food and great customer service. THANK YOU!
