I would like to say first and foremost that being from Vancouver, BC I know a thing or two about sushi. I saw the flyer for this restaurant and decided to check it out because I have yet to find a decent sushi restaurant in St. Louis area. Initially when my husband and I walked in, the restaurant had a very nice layout with an authentic Japanese atmosphere complete with oriental music instead of the run of the mill top 40 that you hear everywhere you go. It was very relaxing and we were surprised we were the only two there at the time. We sat down and the waitress came over to our table and was very polite and asked us if we wanted something to drink. I asked for green tea which is usually served instead of water at no charge in most other sushi restaurants. After the waitress left I glanced at the menu and saw that they charged $2.15 for it. Around this time a few more customers walked through the door. Suddenly we went from some Asian pop group to Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Sell outs. There went the atmosphere. I proceeded to look at the menu and decided to order the yam tempura appetizer, a favorite of mine. I was expecting a decent portion of yam tempura, usually 5 or 6 large pieces of it. Instead what came to the table was a small plate with 5 pieces of tempura which looked like small potato chips with some carrot garnish on the side. The waitress came back after a little while and asked if we were ready to order. I ordered the any three rolls for 9.95 and my husband ordered the chicken teryaki bento box. His came with a salad while mine came with a bowl of miso soup. I took a sip of it and is was barely warm, like it had been sitting out. Our food finally arrived and I looked at the rolls on my plate. The first thing that I noticed was that they were very small, and there was barely any of the main ingredient in them ( ie. salmon, crab, etc ). I am used to a California roll being a decent size with plenty of crab or pollack shredded and mixed with a little mayo, with a piece of avocado and a little cucumber. These rolls were small, barely had any crab meat and it was not mixed with anything, just a tiny little piece that I could barely taste, which is being pretty chintzy when you are using imitation meat to begin with. The Alaskan roll was the same story with barely any salmon, the Philadelphia roll actually had a decent piece of smoked salmon in it. My husband said that his chicken teryaki was just ok. The sauce was great but the chicken was a bit dry. Now dont get me wrong, I am not some snobby food connoisseur, I simply expect to get what I pay for and it is apparent to me that people just dont know what good sushi is here and the restaurants just serve poor quality sushi because of this. Same story with Vietnamese, but I wont start on that. Bottom line, we spent $30 including the tip for two of us. We usually spend less than $20 at other sushi restaurants weve been to. My advice, buy your sushi at Schnucks or Trader Joes, light some candles and put on some Asian music.

My wife and I have been coming to Fuji Sushi since we first learned of it. At the time, it was one of the few places to get above average sushi, all you can eat, and at a great price. Recently, we decided to stop in and grab some Sushi to go. I had placed my order from a printed menu that they have at the counter. The menu had some of the prices changed with hand-written numbers. So, I was fairly confident the menu reflected current prices. I didnt order anything from the menu that had hand-written corrections. However, after my order was prepared, and rung up, it was obvious that they had overcharged me. I asked about the prices, and I was told that the prices had gone up $1 for each item. When I complained, I was told that the prices were updated on the website 3 months ago. Really? In addition to the printed menu I am holding in my hand, I need to get out my smartphone and verify them against their website? I was then shown a little tiny yellow sign, taped to the counter, which was conveniently hidden under some other menus, that carry-out was $1 more. I was also told that the menus were printed 6 years ago, and they were trying to use them up. I get that, but nobody likes to be confused about the price they are paying, and expect surprises when the bill comes. On top of that, the owner walked away, angry, and didnt even offer an apology. Between my wife and I, or business meetings I often held there with clients, Ive probably been there at least 60 to 70+ times since they opened. But, now, fortunately, there are now many other options in the area. I am not planning on being back to Fuji Sushi.

I used to like this restaurant but I had the most horrible experience yesterday and will never go back again. I ordered dinner for my husband and I. When my husband got home, they had left my entree out of the order. The restaurant didnt call to let me know, or take it off my credit card, so I called them. The person on the phone said, yes, we left it out. My husband went back and picked it up. When I finally got it, the dish was inedible. It tasted like the chef dumped a shaker full of salt on it. I called to let them know and request that they refund it. The same person, told me that unless I brought it back they would not refund me because, how could they know I didnt eat it. Mind you, I probably called him back within 15 minutes of my husband being there. I asked to speak to the owner or manager and the man on the phone said I couldnt because the owner is Chinese and doesnt speak English. He said I could text a picture of the entree, which I did. When I called back to follow up, he said, he didnt get it. I was hopping mad at this point. I was just blown away, that after all the trouble I went to get my meal, due to their own mistakes, they would think Im trying to get some free tofu and noodles. I ended up taking back the whole order except the couple of apps my husband had already eaten. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED POORLY AND BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!

My husband and I started coming here when we moved to Arnold,Missouri. Not wanting to drive all the way into Saint Louis to get sushi we decided that we would try it out. I love the atmosphere! The lights above the tables are my favorite.. Still looking for those to hang in my kitchen. I am not an adventurous person when it comes to sushi. I got my usual, Spicy Tuna,YellowTail and Salmon. They were all amazing. The Crunchy Roll however is my most favorite. My husband and I have been coming back ever since. The prices are wonderful and my kids even love the rolls!!! (And it is hard to please those 2!) Continue the great service and good work!! And thanks for being so close to home!
