I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but Id like to offer my experience with this restaurant. After a positive experience at another Mexican restaurant (Amigos Cantina) in the area, I decided to try Pueblo Nuevo for lunch. Reviews looked promising, but when I entered the restaurant, the overall feel and decor didnt really appeal to me. I was looking forward to the food nevertheless. The waiter started us off with chips and salsa, or what I thought was salsa, in a squirt bottle. It was watery and bland. I love eating fish, and I had ordered fish at the other Mexican restaurant, so I decided to order the tilapia. When it arrived, I noticed that it smelled particularly fishy (Im Chinese, so Im used to the gross, fishy smell of fish heads, etc.). I bit into it and it was quite dry. But I was starving, so I ate it all. Thirty minutes later when I returned to work, I started to feel fatigue and an upset stomach. As the hours passed, I had an unbearable, throbbing headache and I felt cold to the point of goosebumps. These symptoms lasted the rest of the day. Looking back at it, I shouldnt have eaten the tilapia as it didnt seem fresh. Ive never gotten food poisoning in the U.S. before, so this was a surprise. I had felt these same symptoms once before from eating seafood at a Caribbean resort. All in all, I cant recommend Pueblo Nuevo in the slightest.

Excellent food, terrific fast service, best Mexican restaurant in St. Louis. Ive been coming to Pueblo for over ten years and I am yet to find a better place to eat. Tonight was yet another fun trip there for me, great food, reasonable prices, and superior service. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Mexican cuisine. If you are looking for the best Mexican restaurant that also has a killer happy hour and is close to Lambert International Airport-look no further! I have always gotten a great meal and great service from them. I met some out of town friends there this evening, and it was as great as I was used to. Krystal was bar-tending and she never missed a beat. She answered all of out menu related questions accurately as well as providing some advice that was spot on. The food arrived quickly and was flawless. Excellent place +1 and 5/5 stars-like normal!

Came here with my family and was treated very horribly by the manager who apparently was drunk. We all ordered the pueblo nuevo plate and substituted the chicken with steak. 30 mins later, he comes to tell us that it would be expensive to substitute ( 2.99 extra) as if we didnt know it already. He made us feel like we were too poor to eat at his restaurant. I have never been so embarrassed over a freaking 12.99 diner plate. How dare he tell us that it would be too expensive for us to substitute!! Dont blame me for not liking the way the chicken is cooked..This place does not deserve any stars. He was RUDE and very unprofessional.

Best Mexican food in STL!! Ive lived in Texas before and many of my friends from Texas and Mexico have been here to eat and say this food is legit Mexican food!! I highly recommend the Chicken Chimichangas with Rice and Beans! The chimichangas here arent greasy like other Mexican Restaurants. If you dont want to order Chimichanga, the second thing I recommend are the fajitas. The guacamole is very creamy and fresh! The Green Chili Stew is very good if you want something spicy. Come here on Friday or Saturday nights for live Mariachi bands!

Went on a rainy day at lunch time. Not that busy, sat myself and my party. Took a good 10 minutes to get menu. Only one waitress for the whole place. Not a big selection on food. Food came out hot but no big flavor. Everything had the same taste. The pork tasted burnt. Took forever to get a refill on my drink. Probably wont be back but I tried them. Id say if you like bland mexican they will probably suit your taste buds.

I came in alone to kill time before an all-evening meeting. The service was fine (polite but not very quick). But I think I arrived just before the server in my section clocked in. The important thing is that these were the best tacos al pastor Ive ever eaten. The menu isnt very big for a Mexican restaurant but the food was stellar and thats a great trade off. I dont live anywhere near this place, but Ill be back.

Have been a here a few times since moving to town. It used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant near the Urshan campus. The first time or two I went since moving here I was disappointed that on their lunch menu the fish taco is only "one taco." Do not fear and do not shy away from the fish taco. It is quite nearly two tacos worth of fish. Very good. I love this place. Im also partial to the enchiladas verdes here.

It is the best mexican food in all the St. Louis area. Family owned and friendly staff live music on Thursday,Friday and Saturday nights. Happy hour M-F from 4pm to 7pm with buy one get one free house margaritas(excellent) $2.00 domestics and $2.50 imports. All food is made fresh daily, hot and mild flavors of their own salsa with fresh chips. I would recommend to anyone looking for authentic mexican food.

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. My wife likes the pork chimichangas and I like the Pueblo Plate with taco, burrito, my favorite: the empanada fried meat pie. (Its disappointing to see a few negative reviews, but I suppose thats hard to avoid in this business, and people are more likely to take the time for a bad rating than a good one. So heres my 5 stars.)

Staff is excellent and the food is great! Being serenaded with live music was also great! I will recommend this restaurant at the top of my favorite places to visit again whenever I visit St Louis...highly recommended and our waitress (Naomi) was absolutely excellent...you will see her taking care of her customers at blazing speed!!! EXCELLENT ☆☆☆☆☆

Not what I expected. The sampler platter was BLAND, no seasoning at all. I ended up using the salsa to try and spice up the flavor. The service was non existant. The employees were more interested in watching spanish language tv than serving us. I have had better mexican food at Taco Belle. Will never go back! My first and last time.

The good was ok. Not the best, not the worst. The singer can barely sing, but he tries. We were there and a group of about twenty Mexicans came in and had a ridiculously loud and obnoxious sing a long. I wish management would have stopped it, but they didnt. The way this place is laid out makes it seem busy all the time. Im not a fan.

Their Salsa Verde is the best Ive ever had. One night while eating dinner there I over heard a man say to the waitress that he is from Phoenix and whenever he comes to town he always comes to Pueblo Neuevo. I agree, Ive been to the south west many times and have never had Green Chile that comes close to their home made sauce.

Excellent Mexican restaurant....my favorite. Love the Enchiladas Platter (I get chicken)...refried beans and rice are the best Ive had--and Ive been to more than a few Mexican restaurants. Very casual atmosphere--seat yourself and stop by the register to pay on the way out. Highly recommended.
