AWFUL SERVICE! First off, Im not one to write a review every time I go somewhere. In fact this is my first, so that should tell you how bad this is. I came here for a birthday breakfast having heard about their semi-popular breakfast choices. The food was hardly anything special and not worth the expensive price tag. Ive had much better for much cheaper. But the thing that really made this a bad experience was the service... or lack there of. We waited nearly 15 minutes to be initially asked for drinks, then another 15 to receive them. Our 2 orders took over 45 minutes to come as the waiter put in the wrong order for my dish. About 20 minutes after we ordered he came back and asked us again what we had. He said he put in the wrong thing for us and would have to go back and change it. I could put up with this, even though he was not in the least bit remourseful. He then came back another 10 minutes later to tell us that the dish that was not ordered incorrectly had been sitting out too long, and needed to be recooked. This added another 15 minutes until we finally received both our plates, one of which was cold having sat out long. On top of that he never brought us either of the sides we ordered, and never apologized for the slow service. The whole ordeal took just under 2 hours for waffles and eggs. Had either the service or the food been good, I would not have written the review. But both being extremely disappointed, I feel I must warn anyone thinking about going here for a special occasion, or even casual dining. Wish I could give it 0 stars...

Food is delicious, fresh, American favorites done very well. We have been here several times and love it. Unfortunately this evening was frustrating because the waitress forgot about us for at least 20 minutes while we waited for a high chair and to place an order. We grew quite hungry and irritated watching everyone around us order and get their food before we ordered. Then there were mix ups with the way the order was written down, further delaying dinner. Waitress was quite inexperiencd, but the hostess and other wait staff were super friendly and able to solve her problems. We had to leave by that point so Im hoping next time will be much better, as it has been before. Such a busy and reputable restaurant needs an experienced staff. Looking forward to next time because the food is worth it to try again! They have the best kids meal in town with options like steak and grilled chicken, fresh veggies, and a homemade cookie. Grownup menu is also creative and delicious!

I think this place is a bit overrated. Food is decent, but it wasnt great. We got there about 5:15PM and put in for an outside table for 6. They said 30-40minutes end up more like an hour and we went on to check on things and they seemed a little unorganized (oh yeah I guess you have been waiting a long time was the response) then all of a sudden 10 minutes later we were seated. Others waiting were having similar bad experiences if they were more than a party of 2. That said. Beer list is pretty good. Not as good as people claim, but respectable. Foods okay, as I noted but not memorable. Gorganzola pasta was good. Gladiator flat bread pretty good. Steak and perogies was average. Fish and Chips overly breaded. Meatloaf was good. Staff was nice and attentive once we were seated, and they did a nice job. Its a decent stop but there are several other venues around there that are much better! Longfellow just has outdoor seating, which really is its only draw.

I was in the group of three on whom the police were called. I live in the neighborhood and used to go to the Longfellow Grill around once a month, nothing special, but not terrible either; pretty much an Applebees with a better beer list but less consistent service and food. I do live nearby, so it was a convenient place to meet neighbors or stop on a bikeride. That said, those days are over. I’ll spare you a detailed recap of what happened, but the server said something that offended out party, someone in our party said something that evidently offended the manager, and ½ hour later the police arrived. It might have been easier just to ask us to leave, but I am getting a lot of mileage out of the “the manager called the police because he thought I was impolite” story in the neighborhood. Anyway, on a pragmatic note, in the end Blue Plate Restaurants and I are on the same page- they don’t want me or my friends as customers, and we enthusiastically agree.

(Previous 4 Star Review) Quickly, The Longfellow Grill has easily became our second favorite breakfast joint in town. This place has an awesome breakfast menu and the wait staff is great! Solid, reliable, neighborhood cafe! Edit: 05/09/2016 - We recently dined at the Longfellow grill for dinner on 05/07 and I felt the need to revisit this review. Something has happened or changed here, or maybe its just because it was dinner instead of the breakfast rush. What a difference of experience. It was a beautiful day and the patio was a zoo, so we opted to sit inside and was sat at a table near the bar. Service was slow, but the bar was even slower. We both ordered a cocktail, and I kid you not, they took twenty minutes to arrive. Service was good, but food was lack-luster. Between two drinks and two entrees, it was definitely not worth our $50 tab. I dont think we will ever be back for dinner.

Ordered Grill Burger for take-out. Got home and it was a burger with cheese, cold. 2nd time an order for take-out has been incomplete in a row. Called and my entire order (including a second burger) was remade and they offered to deliver since it was the 2nd incident. Longfellow normally does not deliver, thought this was nice. After a 40 minute wait (I live 10 blocks away), the delivery person rang my doorbell, left my food on my doorstep, and walked back to his car. While walking away I opened my door to grab the food and he said "sorry, i knocked but no one answered". I have a large German Shepherd who barks at any stranger knocking at our door. He never barked. The delivery driver had no respect and the attempt to rectify the situation was ruined. The second meal included cold sweet potato fries. I used to be an avid diner since it is in my neighborhood, but I will not go back again.
