We decided to have our 9:15 pm dinner reservation at Granite city for our 2016 New Year. Well we ordered BBQ Chicken flat bread for our appetizer and that was AMAZING, delicious and surprising flavor, semi spicy and sweet put together, 5 stars for that! On the other hand, my husband and I went for Ribeye steak to insure flavor and juicy meal, Well! It was Terrible, mind you the meat was asked to be cooked medium rare temperature and it was, but still it was tuff, and no flavor what o ever!! it was about the worst Ribeye steak we have ever had! I am not sure It deserves 2 Stars. The place is beautiful but the place was semi full with sweat pants and very low attire dressed people?! We were very surprised and over dressed for that night at this place, we will not go there again for New Year for sure. I do have to say our waiter Jason was very attending, kind and helpful and we were very pleased with him. Photo of Granite City Food & Brewery - Troy, MI, United States. When Granite City first opened I was going there at least once a week. The lunch specials and happy hour specials were great. However my last 2 experiences there were HORRIBLE!! The first time the service was terrible and slow. The waitress forgot about us. I was there with a group of 6 on lunch, at a time they were not too busy, however lunch took almost 2 hours! I complained to the manager, Lee, who did not care at all. All he said was "sorry!!!" Just last Friday (2/15) I was there with 8 girls. 6 of us sat down at 8:07 and immediately ordered our drinks. 2 more came at 8:11 and ordered their drinks. By 9:00pm we all had our food and the last 2 ladies that came NEVER GOT their drinks. By now we were furious so again, I spotted Lee "the manager" who again said he was "sorry" and did nothing about it. When I was speaking to him, the waitress walked by with one of the 2 drinks, she said she was waiting on the bartender to make the other. Now this is not rocket science, it should not take almost an hour for 2 drinks and if the bartender was that slow or forgetful, the waitress should have kept on her to get our drinks. After Lee, again not doing anything, I found another manager who then comped all of us 1 drink each. Worse service ever, I will probably never go back!! They need to hire new staff and especially a new manager!!!! Can’t believe how terrible the service is there!!!

Granite City Brewery is a decent place, so far. The service was really good. I made a reservation and my party of five arrived 30 minutes early, but we were promptly seated. I had the Batch 1000 beer, which was flavorful and I feel paired well with the City Wings with old bay seasoning. I dont usually get dry rub for wings, but was satisfied. I also tried the Northern Fish and Chips. First, the positive. The fish had the perfect amount batter. Just the right ratio of fish to batter. The color, too dark. I also believe that the grease shouldve been changed. The grease the fish was cooked in was burnt, leaving a unpleasant after taste. The "chips" or as we in America know them as, French fries, were not good at all. Theyre advertised as "Malt Vinegar French fries". No malt. No vinegar. I also had the "Big Show" burger, which was good as well. It was the best of all the food I had. I asked for medium well, but it was slightly overcooked, making it somewhat dry. The bbq sauce was delightful, but I wish it was juicier. Ordered mashed potatoes because I love them, but they were lukewarm, bland, with a halfway decent consistency. No flavor. Ill be back to further taste the menu, but this time , Granite City was "okay".

I had a great experience. Went there last Sat. (Mar.2nd). Food was excellent, tasty beer and tasty cocktails. Food was excellent and service was very good. Valet was very courteous, introduced by his name and when leaving he saw us by the distance and pulled out our vehicle right away (I didnt even needed to hand my ticket, he remembered which vehicle I was driving). Hostess was kind. We used their "call ahead" and our wait time was about 25 mins. They do not take reservations. I did overheard from other people that was just arriving that waiting time was 40 to 50 mins. So "call ahead" is strongly recomended, but make sure you are on time or you might miss your spot. Waiter was nice and quick, I did got the feeling we wait a bit longer than usual to get our first drinks ordered, other than that our waiter did a very good job. Food was a very good quality and taste. All plates were very nicely presented and cooked very well. Ordered shrimp as appetizer, flat bread, NY steak, Salmon, Chicken Pasta, No complains at all. The place was packed that night, but still we have an overall very nice experience. I will definitely come back.

Having gone to GC (Granite City) for a while, Ive noticed that there are small things that have gradually decreased in quality over time. That isnt to say the experience is negative but rather that its on the decline. A year ago I would have rated GC 5 stars. Recently Ive found that the time to get food and the service is getting slower. The food has never decreased in quality and their menu changes provide a good variety over time. Ive found, though, that the menu doesnt change often. I assume this is due to GC being a chain. The staff has always been perfectly friendly and helpful. I have not yet had an issue with the folks at GC. Overall, the experience is positive and the food is delicious. However, there seems to be a chance that you might wait a little longer for your food than you may like.

Beer and food are pretty good. Not great but definitely above average and reasonably priced. Plus the growlers are one of a kind and almost a piece of art. Thats the good part. The black eye on G.City is the absence of reservations which are replaced with a joke called "call ahead seating." Today at 11:00am I placed my call ahead "reservation" for a 7:00 dinner. Our party arrived early at 6:30 hoping to sit early. At 7:40 we were still waiting for our table. A lot of good call ahead seating did for us. Worst part is we had a 3 year old and 3 month old in our group. Imagine hungry kids screaming and yelling in an overcrowded lobby. Nuff said. Im a mug club member here but not sure I even want to go back. I might just put the growler on a shelf and display it as a piece of art.
