A group of friends and I had a girls weekend in Saugatauk this last weekend and came into your restaurant on Sunday night around 8:30pm. When we got there, there were a few people at the bar but no one at any tables. We were seated and ordered drinks, shortly after another older couple was seated a few tables away. The server, a young blonde girl, came to take our order and her phone was going off nearly the entire time. We had all ordered soups and entrees and waited for a long time; so long in fact that the couple seated next to us got their soups AND entrees before we even got our soups. When we asked the server why she stated she thought we wanted them all out at the same time, even though no one had requested that. She rolled her eyes and went into the kitchen. When she returned ALL of the soups were COLD and had to be sent back. The server said it was because "we are closing and had to throw something together." Really? At that point we should have walked out, but stayed. The server had such a bad attitude the entire time, rolling her eyes, stomping to and from the kitchen etc. When we got the bill we had been charged for French fries I asked for as a substitution for chips. We approached the server who then told her manager "they are complaining about the charge for fries since they clearly did not read the menu." The manager at this point informed us their policy is stated on the menu: if fries are requested then there is an upcharge and he would not take it off the bill. I talked to him further explaining the entire situation and how our experience was horrible. He said that is their policy and that he had overheard the way the server talked to us and had already talked to her about it in the kitchen. Not once did he say sorry, not once did he offer to pay for our cold soups but instead told us there is nothing he could do since we ate the soup, after it had been returned to the kitchen. I have never been treated like this in a restaurant before. Restaurants survive off of good customer service and this is the WORST I have experienced EVER!!! We werent looking for anything for free, but a simple Im sorry would have been something. We will NEVER come back to this restaurant.

Encouraged by the sign out front for a great hamburger... we chose outdoor seating at Butlers yesterday, 8/25/17. Greeted by a waitress without a smile, we ordered our meals and observed the surrounding sites. A party with a small dog in a baby stroller seemed to need 3 servers and a hostess to help them position their animal for viewing while they dined. Hmn... we continued to wait for our long anticipated burger. Upon delivery to our table, I quickly noticed the bun was ice cold.... after heralding down our server, she explained Butlers grill was "different for outdoor seating and buns were served right out of the bag... unlike indoors, where they are heated. I asked if there was a price difference... she replied, "no." So for nearly $20.00, we were served burgers and chips (not fries) that were clearly made from preformed frozen patties on cold buns. My recommendation, pick up the quality and hire servers that smile.

Its mindboggling that some people (see below reviewers from 2010 and earlier) can find their burgers to be "delicious" let alone any other items on the menu be tasty. However, what definitely takes the cake was pouring salad dressing onto the cranberry walnut chicken salad and watching it come out in chunks. Ironically, all other reviewers seem to harp on the terrible service, which, albeit not stellar, it is nowhere near as despicable as the food being served. Granted, when I asked for water without any ice, and I was brought a pitcher with ice because "there was ice in it already" that doesnt really point to lovely service, but after suffering through immensely sub-par food, it really wasnt that big of a deal. I have no idea how they are celebrating fifty years, they should have just stuck to a hotel and nixed the restaurant. The view to the harbor is pleasant, though.

Weve been here twice and I wish we would have went with our original decision of never going back again. Went back with the family and was let down equally as before. Dont ever get the house special of the day, lasagna. Poorly prepared, skimpy on lasagna noodles, overloaded with sauce. The water was good though. Really wish we would have stopped at the Burger King we saw up the road for the $1.49 nuggets and $1 Icee. Would have saved money and toilet paper from when this sauce comes out. If and hopefully sooner rather than later when they go out of business or do the community a favor and close the doors. Very nice location for a restaurant who has potential and strides to please their customers. Feel free to make this right with a well deserved refund.

I went to the Butler with my husband and two young children. My daughter (4 months) slept the entire time and my son (2 years) didnt make a peep - he just played with a small toy horse and kept to himself. Well...the staff at the butler made it VERY known that they were not a fan of kids. They even had a sign on the entrance about how they could ask parents and children to leave. Now...i know some kids are bad...but come on. Dont list yourself as a family restaurant if you clearly hate families. Also...the burgers were awful. And the fries were terrible. I almost asked for my money back. I can get pre-made burgers (pattys that are microwaved) at anywhere. I thought these would at least be made to order. So disappointing.

Visited Saturday night 8/26/17 at 7:30pm. Had a 1/2 hour wait but was told the wait would be 1 hour so we had a cocktail at the bar. I ordered the Bourbon BBQ Burger burger. Friends had the Boom Boom Shrimp Po Boy and Cherry Chicken and Walnut Salad. All of it excellent! It was reasonably priced for the size of portions. We sat inside, (friends told me the menu outside was different and inside menu is better), and had a beautiful view of the waterfront and live music on the deck. Service was friendly and attentive. Loved Saugatuck and thoroughly enjoyed our meals at The Butler. Well definitely be back!

Personally, I loved it. My food was DELICIOUS and exactly as I ordered. My sister, however, was missing pieces of her burger, and the waitress never brought them out when she was asked. My moms meal was brought to our table almost 10 minutes after everyone elses. Two orders of clam chowder were forgotten (but were on the receipt). It took forever to get our food, and even though it was busy, it shouldnt have taken that long. I think the hamburger I got was the most delicious hamburger I had in a long time. Id definitely return to have another meal. Hopefully our waitress wont screw up so badly.

Went there with with all my kids for a special meal (we hadnt been all together for 15 months), my daughter was served nearly raw chicken, which she tried before realizing. She was really upset and lost her appetite as well as feeling unwell. The manager very graciously agreed not to charge us for her meal and apologized in a not very convincing manner. There did not seem to be any concern for the fact that the meal (there were eight of us) had been spoilt. I would not recommend going there and would not go there again. The waiting staff was good but the management left a lot to be desired.
