Pretty disappointed in our dinner experience last night. We arrived at 5:30 well before the dinner crowd and were led to a table that was right in the draft of the cold winter weather. When we asked the hostess to reseat us into the adjacent room, (which had only one occupied table), she seemed quite upset that she now had to change her table rotation. Once seated, my wife and I each ordered the short ribs dinner entrees. Our waitress came back and advised us that "they were our of short ribs" and could we choose another item. I selected the Ossobuco and my wife selected the salmon. Within seconds, the waitress was back telling us that they were also out of Ossobuco!!!!! I asked if they had filets and she said yes. During our dinner, a manager stopped by and asked how our food was. My wife shared the frustration of two items not being available. The manager blurted out some lame story that they were in the process of changing menus and because the printer was late in getting back the new menus they were caught in this in between period. (Obviously, short ribs and ossobuco are not part of the new menu.) She advised us that the waitress was now well aware of what was no longer available for future customers and she quickly apologized and left. Overall, food was OK, we had a good attentive waitress, but the hostess and manager get a two star at best.

I suggest entering through the doors closest to Main St. so you dont have to wind yourself through the entire restaurant to get to the hostess stand. The hostess was exceptionally friendly, as was our waitress, Cecily. The interior of the bistro is cozy, warm, and nicely decorated, albeit crammed with too many tables and people. We started with their complimentary bread, which is delicious, following that with tomato and basil soup which was flavorful, but lukewarm. Both of us would have liked it to be hot. We werent super hungry, so we split lasagna, made with homemade sausage, which was a little disappointing. First, from a texture perspective, slices of sausage just dont belong in lasagna. My opinion, it should be taken out of the casing, and cut or crumbled before making it part of this dish. Secondly, I thought it might have been me, but my husband agreed that there was a slightly fishy taste to the lasagna. It was peculiar and unwelcome, but not so overpowering that we wanted to take time to send it back, as we were a tad rushed. I really want to give La Vita Bistro four stars, but just cant, so well have to come back and try something else. Thumbs up to Cecily on providing excellent service--hopefully well get lucky and have her as our waitress again. I know this restaurant has more to offer than what we got. I just know it.

My husband and I came here after we ran 50 miles. It was around 4:30pm and we got right in. The service was phenomenal! It was the best we had all year! The manager and by and the server kept checking in. We started with the antipasti! It was delicious and huge! The bread was warm and savory and the oil with the herbs was flavorful and delicious! Our mains came with soup or salad. My husband had Caesar and I had the minestrone. Both were delicious and perfect sizes. For mains, I had the bucatini bolognese and my husband had the ravioli bolognese. My bucatini was cooked perfectly and my husband loved his ravioli! We had plenty of leftovers to take with us and even the bottle of wine we had. It was a great local find and amazing service! We will definitely be back!

My family all wanted to get food from the diner for a picnic at the playground but I wanted something special. Tried to duplicate the amazing salad that I got at Bravo in E.Lansing nights before. Ordered house salad with salmon add on, balsamic vinaigrette dressing, no onions for carry out at LVB. For $12 (plus I gave a $4 tip) I took out a salad with onions, no dressing and plain square piece of salmon that looked like it came from the freezer section at Busches. I ended up using ranch from the diner on my $16, "special" salad. Not sure that Ill do it again. The 6 meals ordered from the diner were just as they expected them to be. :/

If youre going to La Vita for food value, then the place is a bit pricey for what is good, but not what Id call noteworthy American-Italian fare. Could also have a beer tap and/or carafes of wine to go with pizza rather than have to buy by the bottle. That being said, weve been to La Vita a few times and found the outdoor seating with fireplace and live music to really be a joy. Service has also always been timely and attentive. if you like a place thats out of the way and pick the right time to go (to enjoy the outdoor amenities), its a solid 4 out of 5 - better than average as a whole, but best suited for certain occasions.

It was with some skepticism that I entered La Vita on a Friday night. Pinckney is not known for fine dining options, and I didnt want to get my hopes up. We entered a packed house and the hostess estimated a 45 minute to hour wait. Our party of four decided we would wait and had a seat in the lobby. It was nice to have a small TV to supplement an hour of conversation until our table was ready. As our meal progressed we all noted the high quality ingredients, comfortable ambiance, and friendly staff. The prices are on par, and we will without question be dining here again.

Went there for Fathers Day as I am gluten free and found a good review on Find Me Gluten free app. The food was very good! I got a steak, red potatoes and asparagus. And I did NOT get sick. Its a very pretty restaurant and the staff are very attentive and communicate allergies very well to the kitchen. Im always a bit scared going into a new restaurant but no worries now! My dad got one of their large salads with chicken and loved it. Sorry we were so under dressed from hiking!

Chef Eirik has brought an awesome freshness to the menu and everything he touches. I loved the wide variety of menu choices and the new market counter. I can take home a wonderful meal for my family that is healthy and one that tantalizes our taste buds, especially on those long days at work. I am so happy with the great changes to La Vita Bistro. We proudly have taken numerous friends there to enjoy our hometown! Thank you and kudos to the owners!!!!!

Over priced and low quality - $29 steak filet tasted more like a $3 dried out unseasoned burger patty. Waitress couldnt explain what the "zip" sauce was (nor did she bother to find out for us) and the upcharge for the Piedmont Onion soup was a whopping $6! I tried the lasagna and I would rate it BELOW Olive Garden and Johnny Carinos. Thought wed try and support a local restaurant, but we were extremely disappointed. We wont be back.
