I know someone who personally worked there a while back and it was the worst experience for them. The staff seemed to come off warm and family oriented at first but were actually rude to them, especially when orders and business was moving quickly. They would talk down to them and embarrass them when they didnt "say" an order exactly right even though it was 100% comprehendible. One of the other waitresses would constantly bombard the new employee with their work they didnt want to do. On top of that, they would leave a mess and not clean up and the new person had to always clean after them while the manager knew and never did anything. The manager had a little bit of an attitude, even to customers sometimes and would talk badly about the new employee with the other staff. Not only that, they only trained that person literally for 4 hours (2 hours of training the first two days) and on the third day told them they were "working the floor" that same day. Whenever the newcomer would ask for assistance or forget little things or tasks they werent taught, the staff would get visibly irritated, even in front of customers and made it very uncomfortable. It was all a bunch of petty stuff and I know the workplace can be that way but there were certain public health guidelines they did not follow, additionally. One time, their dishwasher/errand boy/cleaner was told to clean the vent on the ceiling and while he was doing that, the rack of "clean" dishes directly underneath was then full of clumps of brown/black dirt fuzz all askew around and ON the dishes. Health codes like using a clean ice scooper when getting ice was not followed but instead they used the same ol water pitcher that was simply thrown in the ice that they used for scooping even when someone put it on the dirty kitchen counter. The manager knew what guidelines to follow because they clearly stated this loudly the week an inspection was expected and told everyone to now do things right just so they can pass it but can go back to how things were done before. There were times when many many customers would complain to new staff or waitresses about how run down and not taken care of the place looked, or how it was dirty, including the bathrooms (which were not cleaned on a regular basis) and about the staff, like how loud and vulgar the cooks were; cussing and arguing. This is all part of the experience as a customer or staff and why so many staff members (mostly servers) have quit after weeks or months. I will gladly not go here and waste my money on their oily food and crappy service. Oh and dont waste the time working here either, youll end up being treated like crap in which you definitely wont be paid enough for at all.

Went to Bread Basket Saturday with my husband and adult daughter who is in a wheelchair. It said to seat yourself. We went to the table area and then were told that we could not move a chair in the aisle because it would be a "health" issue. We had to put the seat on the other side of the table. Then we waited for menus. The same waitress then came out to serve another table and literally out loud while rolling her eyes announced for all to hear that she didnt know how she could serve the other tabless food because I was in her way. I told her we would just leave and I wanted to talk to the manager. We have come over the years to this location and enjoyed it. . It is the law that a person in a wheelchair can eat in a restaurant. Restaurant has 3 tables and no one in a wheelchair can sit at a booth. Bathrooms can not be reached in a chair. Employees and manager need to know how to handle accessibility issues. We make bad situations work all the time, but I would not have that waitress or manager in my employ.

I am very disappointed. I finally go to this sure unfussy of the inner Detroit City spots and I am Very Disappointed. How come I order two different junior sandwiches and one regular combo sandwich and when I get home to easy my regular sized combo it is the same sizes as the juniors? I call in to complain and they have the nerve to trek me they measure them out and they are different sizes. I know they are supposed to be but how do you have the nerve over the phone to tell over OVER THE PHONE that they ARE the right size when Im telling you OVER THE PHONE-> WHILE IM LOOKING AT ALL THREE SANDWICHES <- that they are all the same size that Im looking at!!

This used to be the best deli on the face of the earth, always a treat to eat at, or get take out when Id be in Detroit. In the 1980s and 1990s there was always a line going out the door. I still stop to get a corned beef when Im in town, but the place is always empty, except for another one or two people waiting for take out. The atmosphere is sad as the deli slowly deteriorates. On my last visit the accompanying pickles were terrible - a first - I love pickles and they used to have primo pickles. Its very hard watching a once great deli go downhill.

This use to be a great deli, standing room only, I would get a large BB salad and it would come with, it seems like a half a loaf of bread and a ton of meat and cheese and a huge salad. The quality of the food is good just lacking the value of yesterday. Anyone can make great corned beef, few can give it great value. The BB salad used to be my favorite, I am not so sure know.

This place used to be my favorite spot for a turkey ruben, for some reason today I received the absolute worst looking sandwich I have ever seen. The bread was so soggy it was starting to swell up. We asked for the sauce on the side and that must have been too much to ask because it looked like they dropped my sandwich in the sink and gave it to me anyways.

Food there is delicious, always has been. Enjoyed it as a kid too. Im a huge fan of their matzo ball soup. Second best Ive ever had. The service is okay but I usually stick to carry out. The restaurant itself has a bit of an identity crises, its kinda stuck in a 1991 dive diner atmosphere. It could use a refresh. Otherwise, best deli in the area.

Touted as the best corned beef in Detroit. I actually like Gest Omelettes better for their corned beef. This is a lot of meat on a sandwhich for sure, but the meet is tasteless, and the bread is too doughy. good staff, and quick service. so if you like quantity over quality...go for it. Iw ould have them toast the bread though.

One of the best deli. Great value. Sandwiches are huge. Pastrami, roast beef, corned beef is delicious. Beef brisket dinner, fish & chips, half a chichen dinner, soups, everything I have tried has been great, even the tuna platter. The lady who owns the place is always nice and courteous, every one is polite and service is prompt.
