Do it! We have passed by this restaurant om Michigan Ave for years. Bought a Groupon and finally got there. What were we waiting for? The Reuben sandwiches are the best we have ever tasted. Corned beef cooked perfectly, just the right amount of crunch to the bread. We will be back. Try the homemade coleslaw and beef barley soup. I took half of my sandwich home and cant wait to be hungry again. Excellent service, convenient parking and very clean restaurant. Can I add more than 5 stars? went to Hygrades again. Reuben and fries to go. Oh my, the food was fantastic. I dont recommend eating while you drive so my husband chowed the sandwich while feeding me the best fries I have ever tasted. Hot, crisp and flavorful without a bunch of salt. I ate the rest of the sandwich when we got home. Still delicious!

Best Damn Corned Beef since 1955 Now you just gotta know a place has something great going on to last 57 years that would be the corned beef best in the D by far. Sliced heavenly thin and put between great sour dough rye bread, life just does not get any better, I ordered mine with double meat and walked out stuffed WOW. The Lima bean soup was the best ever and the wife had a double meat patty melt with fries all as very good. Please see my photos and give them a try. The retro paneling and vinyl chairs will take you back 50 years in time just one block off Grand Blvd on Michigan ave only 3 minutes to downtown Detroit. Fast friendly service Linda was a hoot and the place is spotless clean too.

This is a brass tax deli with people working hard and the dining room is nothing more than straight up tables and chairs but just wait until the food comes. The portions are hugh and the taste is really unbelievable. They have a Turkey Ruben here that is so far and away the best sandwidge Ive ever had that I find myself thinking of it far more often then I can actually get it. (Get it with tomatos on it!) While the owner keeps things cracking around there, theyre all good people to interact with and once you get your sandwidge, youll remember this place forever! You can call ahead and get it to go or if you live near they may even deliver it for you for only a couple of bucks extra.

Real Old Fashioned Deli! When we walked in, the first thing we said was "It looks and smells like a deli. And we were not disappointed by the food. Our corned beef sandwichs were excellent and very fairly priced. The coleslaw tasted homemade and the French fries were fresh from the frier. Service was efficient and friendly. There is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant and there is a video monitor from it.

My daughter and I both had a sandwich last Saturday @ Hygrade Deli it was my very 1st visit. We dined inside the Resturant. It was clean inside and the staff was very accommodating. My daughter and I both had corn beef sandwiches. The meat was wonderful. I had grilled onion roll and she had grilled rye. They looked and tasted wonderful. Thank you Hygrade Deli. I will visit again very soon.

Old place, but very clean and pleasant. Good people. Owner recommended the Reuben, his signature sandwich, and said he would be disappointed if it wasnt the best Reuben I ever had. I can report the Reuben was indeed EXCELLENT! Corned beef was lean and stacked high, sandwich was well-prepared and delicious. I highly recommend Hygrade Deli (nothing to do with Hygrade hot dogs)...I will be back!!!

I ordered online and it was the easiest and most delicious experience Ive had with online ordering. I easily selected exactly how I wanted my order and a few other folks orders from the office. I checked out and was confirmed an exact time when my order would be ready for pick up. Bam! The ingredients are fresh and prices are competitive. I love this place, especially the online ordering.

I slipped in before they closed at 3pm & they were very nice to accommodate my rueben craving!! Everyone behind the counter was friendly & held no attitude for all the late afternoon diners that came in after me also! The sandwich was amazing, tender & the perfect amount of dressing. Even homemade coleslaw. Thank you & I look forward to coming back for the corned beef hash.

The Hygrade Deli has THE BEST REUBEN IN DETROIT/SOUTHEAST MI! No question. If you love a good reuben, you have to check this place out. That being said I also recommend the Pastrami Special (Pastrami and Coleslaw with cheese on an onion roll) and the egg salad sandwich. Sandwiches also come with Topors Pickles (local pickle company), super delicious!

I used to go there for lunch when I worked at Cadillac. Excellent then and excellent now. My wife said its the best Reuben shes ever had. Ambiance is old 70-80s and could use an upgrade........ignore that and enjoy great deli, old school style Detroit. Still a Firefighter, City, Cop hangout.

Very good sandwiches, for cheaper prices than most overpriced delis. However, they are smaller. You can almost always finish one in one meal. Dont come here expecting a rueben as big as Zingermanns, Its 2/3 the price so its going to be smaller.

Not that good high quality meats but as far as taste its just average at best not great. Pickles are terrible fries are not salted and barely give you any. Way over priced $10 for a sandwich that doesnt even taste good just decent at best

Absolutely the best Reuben sandwich in the country! Granted, I havent tried them all, but none could be better. A great value for any sandwich or meal you choose, and delicious. Worth the trip, or going out of your way.

Okay sandwich shop. Asked for corned beef, which I got. The beef itself was great. The bread wasnt so much, and wasnt rye like I asked for. No pickle either. Hotdog was okay and so were the fries.

Its a family run restaurant. Staffs are friendly. They talked to regular customers in the early morning. It remains me of the 90s American movie. And the corned beef is fantastic!
