TL;DR The food is amazing. I have been looking for a goto Thai place since moving to Michigan. Ive tried several places in the Royal Oak/Madison Heights area and they were all decent but not exceptional. Sunny Thai blows everything else out of the water. The decor and location makes it clear this place is geared primarily for take out however there is some seating available. But the main reason Im writing this review is the food. Hands down the best tasting Thai food in Southeast Michigan. Between two of us we ordered Tom Yum soup, pad prik khing, and panang. The spiciness of each dish was tailored to our request (on the menu you may ask for no spice, mild, mild+, medium, medium+, very spicy, very spicy+). The soup was an explosion of sweet, sour, spicy, and tangy hitting your tongue while still being able to taste each separate flavor. I could go on about the main dishes as well but suffice to say the flavors are all spectacular.

Let me start off by saying I love this place. Keep in mind that I strongly recommend getting takeout, their dining room is very small, informal, and the one time I tried it I decided I wouldnt do it again. The food is fantastic. We really like the Pad Thai is good, and we really like the Panang curry, but other curries weve ordered have been great. The one disappointment was the Massaman curry but other than that we love it here and eat here regularly.

Youre not going to find a better place than this. I guess the head cook (one of the founders) was a chef at a 5-Star restaurant in Bangkok, so you can count on getting true-to-origin, excellent food every time. Theyre extremely polite and thankful for the business and the food (I recommend the Gang Garee.... best yellow curry Ive ever had) is out of this world.

The food is great but I swear they need somebody else running that cash register I handed the girl exact change or so I thought because thats what she said she ended up using a calculator for a good five minutes instead of telling me that apparently I heard her wrong she give me back the same change that I gave her and then more !!!!!! DUMB

I havent had many experiences with Thai food but everything I have had here is delicious! The portions are large enough to share or have leftovers. The prices are great for the sizes of the meals too. If you dont like spicy foods as for no spice because even the mild has a good kick to it

Ive got to say this is the best place for pad thai! The only reason why I didnt give it a five star is because the panang is lacking. Im a huge fan of panang and find it hard to find a place that actually does it well. But hands down, amazing pad thai!

The brown sauce on the traditional entrees has a rich flavor with a full mouth feeling. Extra hot didnt go quite as far as I wouldve liked but its definitely comparable to other restaurants. Will come again the next time Im in the area

I loved this. Went to Detroit zoo and wanted some good food after coming out. This place was not that far from the zoo. Loved their drunken noodles soup. Soup was average. Amazing Thai red curry .. overall a great experience

Super food. Have tried many entrees. Never a disappointment. Ordered the Angry Eggplant. And the eggplant wasnt in the bag... they called me right after i left and offered to remake it the following day. Super service.
