My family went here last night (8/15/15) for my Mothers birthday. We get there and of course we were expecting a wait to be seated - but what happened next was not expected by any means. We wait and wait, and finally we decide to go in and check what the long wait was (usually when a place tells you a wait, they told us ~45 - its never that long) This was the least of our worries, though, because once we go in to check what was going on we find out that they put us on a CALL list, when my brother checked in with the hostess IN PERSON, VERBALLY. So she was waiting for us to call? I dont know what happened, but we get seated after being told we would have to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes which didnt sit well with us (obviously). We finally get seated inside the restaurant after the new hostess (who made the mistake, which was ok) said well we can sit you guys outside right now if youre okay with that. As we get told that, we get told that theyve had this table open for us for 5 minutes+ now yet never called our name to come be seated like they have been doing for the rest of the customers waiting on their table. We sit down after being confronted by the rude hostess (middle aged blonde woman) who refused to let it be known that the mistake was on their end, not ours, and even confronted our table 2 more times afterwards pointing out again, that it was our mistake not the employees there. Then proceeded to call my family white trash as she stormed into the double doors that lead to the Kitchen area to grab her manager after we told her we needed to speak with one. Excuse me? Am I wrong to think that this lady should NOT be a hostess of your restaurant, especially after we had a conversation with the manager who quickly exclaimed that "This isnt the first time that weve had this kind of complaint on her." TERRIBLE customer service - then the manager promises to make it right because we were literally about to walk out the door, (take care of us right) he literally handed us our full bill, nothing taken care of - and even ADDS ON a $3.50 BIRTHDAY DESSERT CAKE MY MOM DIDNT EVEN ASK FOR ON OUR BILL. Youve got to be nuts! Probably will never be back ever again.

Its hard to figure out why this place is so busy. Nevertheless, we find ourselves going here often with family. My wife and I are vegetarians, so the menu feedback will be based on those few items we can order. The nachos and the shady potato dish are both inedibly greasy and utilize frozen bagged food. The cheese is cheap, inauthentic and flavorless. The vegetarian fajita item is greasy and flavorless, and has been on multiple occasions. The line cooks here clearly dont have a good handle on the right amount of oil to put on things. Judging by the look of the fajitas this is also the case with the meats. Very minimal prep seems to happen on site--the fish taco seems to be a battered whitefish fillet common to diners, chopped up and put into a taco. The beans have lard and the rice has chicken stock. So we cant eat those. The house salsa is okay but lacks any punch or meaningful freshness. I cant put my finger on if its frozen, but its certainly not on par with supermarket-grade fresh salsas and offers nothing unique. Lines are pretty long, and service is edgy--sometimes its okay, other times its intolerably slow. Its common to wait for a table. For the price, authentic Mexican fare can be had in a lot of other places.

The experience was awful!! The customer service was terrible. Seven of us decided to have a fun night out and celebrate two birthdays.. what a disaster. After the hour wait (which we were fine with) we were sat and waited on. We were served 1 drink an hour after we were seated and never received our second drink after another hour. We were served two rounds of water within the first 10 minutes, our silverware was cleared before our dinner came.. so ridiculous. The first drink came 15 minutes after we complained to our server (she still took her time), the second drink never came although we ordered before we received our dinner. Ate dinner and two hours later were fed up and our night was ruined. The manager was dumbfounded and didnt know how to handle our complaints. As for the waitress, she was clueless to reality. While we are asking for our bill manager at our table complaints coming from around the table she looked at me and asked "would you like me to still sing happy birthday", I had to laugh I was so annoyed. This place is a joke, and loaded with staff that know nothing about customer service! On top of that the food was just okay, but lets be honest, who pays attention to the food when service is so awful?!?

Sagebrush Cantina is a very nice restaurant with great atmosphere and a large drink selection. If you are looking for a night with lots of drinking and ok food this is the place for you. If you are just looking for great Mexican I would recommend Forest Mexican Cantina instead. Sagebrush always has a long wait. We tried going a couple times at night but ended up going elsewhere because the wait was over an hour even at odd eating times. We were determined to see what the hype was about though so we went for lunch and arrived about 20 minutes before they opened. There was already a line to the end of the block. The food was fine, it wasnt great. The portions were large but everything was kind of bland when compared to Forest where we have also eaten and without the obnoxious wait. The con queso and salsa are much better at Forest. I can only imagine the hype is spurred by their grandiose alcohol menu which cannot be matched. Verdict: Ok, not great. If you are most interested in actually eating great Mexican go to Forest instead. (Ive lived all through the south so Ive had a ton of genuine Mexican to compare to). The food is better and the wait shorter. If you just want to go to a really "cool" eatery then eat here.

Wanted to like it, believed the ratings, but was sadly disappointed. Chips and salsa were good with a nice amount of kick. Unfortunately after that it was downhill fast. Cold food plus inattentive waitstaff meant I couldnt even ask for a fresh hot dish. If youre seated at the tables near the bar, be prepared for people 6 deep constantly bumping into you while youre trying to eat, and the noise to be atrocious. Even the hostess set the tone for the evening. We were a party of 6 and 5 of us were inside while one parked the car, and they wouldnt seat us until all 6 were there. Not worth the hour drive, and definitely not going back. UPDATE: got dragged back for another party over a year later and it was the same story. Lukewarm, overpriced, flavorless food and inattentive service. Noise level was awful, so it was impossible to have a conversation. The only plus is the portion sizes, so you can take your cold flavorless leftovers home to heat and season... I wonder if I can just get takeout?
