I have ordered from here a dozen times or so. If I was basing my rating on every time prior to the last time, I would have rated it 4 stars. If I was basing my rating on the last time, I would have given them 1 star and vowed never to return. Heres my experience: The food is always good. The place could use a good scrub, but Ive obviously never been so turned off that I couldnt eat there. I always order the same 2 items: Chana masala and samosas. Always. I have never ordered anything else from their menu and couldnt even tell you what else is on it. So, I called and placed that order the other day with the woman who answered. I also stated I didnt want any green sauce, only the red kind. I know that she understood that because she repeated it back twice. I repeated my whole order again. However, when she repeated my order, she may have said it incorrectly and I didnt catch it or she got it wrong after the fact. When I picked it up, it was tied up in a plastic bag as usual, but when I got home I saw that I had the samosas and 2 other things that I did not recognize that were covered in the green sauce. I called back and the woman answered and I said I did not get my Chana masala, but instead something that looked like samosas with green sauce on top. She said I had ordered samosas and "Chana samosas." I told her she must have misunderstood me because I said Chana masala. She insisted thats what I ordered even after I told her I had never even heard of that dish. Why I would order 2 different kinds of samosas, one of which I didnt know was an option, and also covered in the very sauce I expressly said I did not want... Anyway, I was irritated after the phone call, though she told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. When I went back to pick it up, the very first thing she said to me was "You said Chana samosas" and when I started to respond, "No, I-" she cut me off and insisted that that is what I said and quickly shut me down with an "its ok, its ok" that came across very condescending. I wanted to say "Even if I had managed to order a dish I had never heard of, it still wouldnt have been right because of the sauce!" However, trying not to be insulting I said, "I must have misunderstood you when you repeated my order back," and she still wouldnt admit that she may have heard me wrong too. It was incredibly rude. I dont know if I will be back. Very disappointing experience.

This is the fourth time Ive visited, and IMO by far the best. I was sad that the vegetarian version of the mulligatawny was no longer on the menu. I liked it. We had the aloo tikki, potato pancakes drenched in chutney and vegetables, as an appetizer. Its very aggressively flavored, but very, very good. We had navratan korma and vegetarian biriyani. The korma was really good, though not the most impressive Ive had. The biriyani, while also aggressively flavored, was incredibly good, and we got so much of it that we made two lunches out of the leftovers! Id prefer to see the restaurant stay open a little later - 8 PM seems awfully early in a town whose bedtime keeps moving back as the west downtown comes back to life - but I really enjoy having it in my neighborhood and hope it lasts a long time.

Food is fine. Place is not all that clean. Cleaning supplies and restaurant supplies laying around in the open so it makes the place look messy. So given that their decor and overhead is low and the food is Ok, I think the price is a little high. You can go to a finer restaurant for that price. My advice, get rid of the 3 booths used for employee lounging, storage, Mail sorting and office work in the open, put up a wall and put a room for all the junk. Put in a little better decor and for heavens sake, put the cleaning supplies out of sight. Oh, I need to add the Naan seemed more like store bought Peta!

honestly, the first time I went there I absolutely loved it! I went there three times after. unfortunately, the last time I went the quality was poor. The buttered chicken and sambosa was not the same as before. The chicken was rubbery and hard to cut I had to stop midway. I usually eat everything and still want more because of how good it is but not that time. I hope your sambosa can be as spicy and filled and your buttered chicken as tasty as before.. I really want to come back but Im afraid I will waste money on rubbery hard chicken..

Maharaja is a very welcome addition to Dearborn. They may not have the most polished staff, and a fairly modest selection, but their food is absolutely wonderful. I have talked to the owners several times and they are the nicest people. I highly recommend this place, and am very happy to have them in Dearborn. This place will no doubt get better and better as the years pass.

I went to this place for lunch buffet a second time. This time i felt the food quality deteriorated quite a bit. The chicken was hard to chew, not as tender as before. I asked for a chai tea. They were not that busy but still didnt serve it when i checked out. The hostess was quite stingy on giving you the naan. I dont think i got 12 dollar worth of food and service.

Cheaters.. I have ordered a vegetarian curry for takeaway. But instead they have given me some other curry. It smells like it was a leftover one. Also I have called them regarding this and they dont respond properly. And if they were really serious about that, they would have told me to comeback and replaced it. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Sorry for the bad review, just did not cut it. Dont taste good, not authentic,, way too expensive for what is served. So called nan - Bread is awful Went 3 different occasions, due to pear pressure. Regretted each and every time. Note: this is not Indian food. Notice that tiny letters in the bottom "pak"(read the fine print... Lol)

Pathetic service...the lady came out and put restriction on how much I can eat in a buffet. I was doing a To go buffet, she told me to take just 2 piece of tandoori chicken. No manners to talk to costumers. Hieght of stupidity, worst indian/pakistani restaurant i have ever been to, should have rating less than 2.

Good location but basic food. Only 4-5 option for vegetarians (yes in Ala-cart), without any extra ordinary test. If you dont have any other choice and you are a vegetarian then go for there Veg Biryani, you will love it and its the only worth item. Its a Pakistani eatery with some Indian veg options.

Drink orders came almost as we were done with the food. Naan order never came at all. When I mentioned at the time to pay, there was not even an apology. Food is mediocre. Their methods for cooking and maintaining the buffet are done to keep costs at a minimum, a the expense of flavor.

I have honestly had better frozen Indian dinners from Trader Joes. The food is very mediocre. And the lady at the register is very rude. Customer service is everything so I probably wont be back. It sucks because I love Indian food and was hoping to find a restaurant close to home.
