I have never been as disrespected at a restaurant as I was on July 23rd at Chung Du in Westborough MA. I hope no mother is treated how I was or feels how I do today. I went to dinner with my two month old daughter, my friend, and her 8 month old daughter. The waitress asked my friend if her daughter was a girl mind you she was wearing pink. She asked how old my daughter was saying she must be five or six months old. She was shocked and disgusted when I said she was only two months. She kept saying OH OH my... Then my daughter began to cry about 5 minutes of on and off crying passed. The waitress returned and asked if she was hungry and I explained she was just a bit fussy. I proceeded to feed my daughter her bottle and the fussiness ended. She did start to cry and fuss a bit after. 15 minutes of chatting with my friend and some on an off crying we were approached by the manager. He asked if we didn’t mind moving tables. He said there is a quieter part of the restaurant we can go to where the baby can cry as much as she wants or we can sing and dance and no one would be bothered. There are other people trying to eat and enjoy their dinners and it’s not fair to them that she keeps crying…. A bit in shock my friend and I stand up and start to grab our things to move tables. The manager said he would grab our things not to worry and proceeded to rush us off to the other part of the restaurant. When our waitress came back she asked if the baby was still hungry. I said no she was just tired and a bit fussy. Still in shock that we were asked to move not sure how to react we both sat down and decided to stay. We ordered food and my daughter was fussy again on and off for 15 more minutes. Our food came and we had 15 minutes of no crying and then she was upset again. Each time she cried I was tending to her seeing what she needed and how I could make her more comfortable to stop crying. Each time the waitress came over there was a look of disapproval and a question or comment about mu child. Finally my daughter fell asleep and the waitress said oh she’s finally sleeping as if she couldn’t be happier. We paid and I still left a 15% tip and when we start to pack up the waitress picks up the receipt and says to my friend that next time just bring yours. I just want mothers to be aware how they will be treated should they choose to eat at this establishment. I am so offended that the manager would ask us to move. If someone complained why didn’t he offer them to move? Why was I treated so disrespectfully that it seemed like they would have preferred that I left with my fussy child. It is so horrible that a person and restaurant would treat any mother like this. Oh and the food isn’t anything special either.

My husband and I went to Cheng Du recently and ordered Japanese cuisine. We sat at the Sushi bar. I ordered a cucumber martini and it was awful because they put soda water in it so it had a bubbly fizz to it. Who puts soda water in a martini!? The only reason would be to save them money by watering down your drink, and yet they still charge $9, the same as most restaurants would charge for a good martini. As for the food, we ordered two maki rolls, one being a simple avocado roll, which we normally love, but here it was dominated by too much rice, no sesame seeds, and you could hardly notice the avocado...it was a tasteless ball of sticky rice. The shrimp tempura maki was decent, but the shrimp was much smaller than other Japanese restaurants. We shared the skewered meats and the chicken was disgusting, fatty, and gross...we couldnt even eat it. The scallops wrapped in bacon were equally nasty with nearly raw bacon wrapped around an overcooked scallop, the only tasty skewer was the shrimp, but again, very small shrimp--and you only get two. The soba noodles were tasty and if we didnt have that we would have walked away hungry. We would NEVER step foot in this place again. There is nothing worse than spending your hard earned money on lousy food. In our opinion, these people have no business being in the food business. They need to spend their money on a real chef and better quality food instead of putting it all on the decor!!! You cant eat the ambiance folks....get your priorities straight if you want to have a good reputation! We love Japanese cuisine and have been to many Japanese restaurants in this area and beyond, but this is by far the worst we have ever had!

Disappointing to say the least. Not sure if they got a new chef but the food is just not good anymore. The sweet and sour pork was greasy and grisly and each pork ball was way too big. The LoMein noodles were long, wide and not near what they used to be. The Pork Fried Rice was sticky and General Tsau chicken had no spice or kick at all. After having poor results three times in a row, Cheng Du is now off my favorite list for Chinese Take out. ...oh yes and when you are paying $60 for take out that is marginal well I would say they are now way over priced! Cheng Du - you took a good thing and ruined it. :-(

Never again. We had been going to Cheng Du for a number of years, but after this past Sunday we will not return. There was a fire there a number of weeks ago, we found out from the server, and the odor was bad. My wife spoke with the hostess as we were leaving and she was very irate---saying that the Fire Dept. was there for a week. Did not know that the Fire Dept. did the cleaning up. The food was cold, the server was clearing the table as we were eating and the portions were so much smaller than before. A very poor experience. Finally the mens room was not clean. There are better. SO-- we will never return.

New to the area, I stopped by one night and ordered a take out. I wondered around the place while I waited. The Decor is a dated Chinese restaurant - that may have looked good in the seventies, but now looks tired. It didnt look like they spent a huge amount of time keeping the place clean. At 8:30 the place was not very busy (Tops 8 people) and the buffet looked particularly greasy. I ordered cashew chicken and spring rolls - Greaser than usual and nothing special about the taste. ( Food - 4 Decor - 4 Service - 5 I recommend you keep looking....

Their online image does not do them justice. Their food is incredible, fresh, and very real tasting (some places leave you a little suspicious). Their staff is helpful and friendly, and they provide beautiful cotton bags. I was highly impressed with their overall delivery. The only thing is, they dont have Japanese anymore. Otherwise, 10/10 would recommend.

my husband and I LOVE Cheng Du! The place has been updated and looks great! However, we found that eating there gives us less food. Take out loads the food on! So we do take out at least once a month!!! have eaten at many Chinese food places and this is superior. The mandarin platter, the crab Rangoon, the peking ravioli, general tsos chicken!!!
