I wish I could give a Zero star. The restaurant was not busy, there was at least 5-6 open tables. It took 15 minutes for the hostess to seat me and my elderly parents. We mentioned to our waitress that we were looking forward to our meal and were very hungry. We ordered appetizers and also asked for bread. The water came over quickly but we didnt get our bread until the appetizer came over which was cold watery lobster ravioli that tasted fishy like it went bad. We ordered pizza and chicken Parmesan. The pizza crust was tough and chewy and the chicken was rubbery. We mentioned to the waitress who replied, "we dont give refunds". We werent asking for a refund, just wanted to share our experience with the staff. At that point we were promptly brought our check without being offered coffee or dessert as we wanted to continue our evening enjoying visiting with our family. We felt un welcomed and ushered out the door. We we embarrassed and just wanted to go. We were disappointed and will not come back. Too bad, this used to be one of our favorite restaurants.

We are regulars at Cafe Porto Bello. The last 3 visits, ordering the same dish, we started having quality issues. Lets just say, if you complain about the food, the head chef will brand you and remember you every time you go in there. After years of going to this restaurant, especially supporting the restaurant after the fire we are disappointed!! The chicken was undercooked, the first time we have ever complained about food!! It is bad enough that since TJ left we are only able to go on the days that Carmen works because Michelle is so unpleasant. With so many restaurants around this area, we will need to find another place to frequent. So sad that the management doesnt want to do the right thing!!! My money is good, too bad owner Steve Costa and Cafe Porto Bello will not see it any more!!

Seated right away, without a reservation, but it filled up quickly after. Very nice atmosphere, with some light jazz piano. Nice menu selection, and good wine/drinks list. Specials sounded very good, although we didnt have any. Salad and garlic bread were very good. The artichoke francese appetizer was outstanding; I will go back for that! She had the chicken parmesan, which was huge and tasty. I had the pollo picatta over penne, which was excellent. Wonderful raspberry tiramisu for dessert. Kim provided outstanding service. Overall, an excellent experience; we shall return often!

My husband and I LOVE fine dining. Now that we have a baby we cant afford it. This place is not fancy, its not gourmet, but it is GOOD. The chicken Marsala is honestly one of the best I have ever had. Beats any that I have ordered in the North End. My husband enjoys the tortellini alfredo. We usually get a bottle of wine, two entrees and a salad and it run us about $50. The atmosphere is nice. It is dimly lit, and yes, it can get crowded, but the service is quick... the food is awesome. go! ~dawn

Weve never had a bad meal or a bad experience here. Theyre usually busy, but well put our name in a walk through the beautiful downtown (in good weather), as some of the shops are open on a Fri or Sat night. Parking is a little dicey, but theres a bank of America with a lot not far away, and a municipal lot around the corner. They now take credit cards (yay!), but there are two bank ATMs within walking distance, if youd rather pay cash.

While my husband and I had a bad experience and complained to the restaurant We were given a 20.dollar gift card and decided to give the restaurant one more try. Unfortunately we were again very disappointed, kitchen staff need more experience , you can not dictate higher prices when the quality is poor ! The manager should be more concerned with her patrons, they could care less if you ever return ! And I know we will Not !

My husband myself and our two children went to cafe poto bello this evening. We dont eat out very often so I was looking forward to going for a nice dinner. I have to say I wish we had stayed home! The meal was extremely overpriced and not very tastey at all! But the worst part. Was being completely ignored by our server! We will never go there again! VERY DISAPPOINTED :-(

We walked into the place and wanted to sit at the bar. The lady at the bar sneered at us as we walked up to the bar. She shooed us away and told us to sit at a table. All the tables were dirty! I could not believe the way this lady treated us. What a miserable person. What is up with these people?

So the Pollo Cassanova was excellent. But, my wife and daughter had the chicken parmigiana with ziti and the chicken was so unbelievably over cooked I felt like it might as well have been leather or a dogs chewy. It was that bad.

I have to say this place is walking distance from my house and I loved the food 99% of the time it is fantastic and the owner is a great person and the service is awesome one of my favorites
