To be honest, I had heard mixed reviews about this place in the past. I should have heeded that warning. Today, I decided to give it a try for take out breakfast. Coming from the west coast and with everyone being so health conscience, I was disappointed to learn that they didnt carry chicken or turkey sausage or bacon. I instead I opted for a breakfast burrito with chicken. Service was pretty quick Im assuming because there were only 4 people seated and eating, with no one else at the counter except for a potato chip vendor anxiously waiting to be paid. A very stoic woman asked for my order, hurriedly took it and I proceeded to wait. I couldnt help but overhear her and another employee (male) complaining that the owner or manager was too cheap to hire someone for some odd job. The fact that they were so brazen about an internal issue while others were around, was all to telling to me. Finally, after waiting about 15 min my order was ready. I looked inside to make sure the order was correct and to my surprise there was what amounted to MAYBE one egg in a burrito with about a tablespoon full of chicken, along with some onions and spices. Im not a big eater but found the portion size for around $8 to be ALARMINGLY small. Not even a thank you or please come back. For that much money and lack of service, I could have driven a mile to McDonalds and fed 2 people. I believe in supporting local business over the larger establishments. But again for the lack of service, decent food portion, and not feeling that my patronage was valued, I will most certainly take my business elsewhere. =/

Went in for breakfast today. Place was empty. This was our first time in the restaurant/shop-I asked for a menu. First I was ignored, and then I was treated rudely by an older man in his fifties-definately the owner or manager by the way he was bossing around the other staff. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese sandwich with homefries. The sandwich came out-no sausage. The plate looked skimpy- And I counted the small amount of homefries (wow, 14 of them). Not surprisingly-the rude guy was now cooking. I asked for my sausage, I got four links of microwaved- but semi frozen links. My dad got the Lox on a bagel ($10) and said it was great. They give a lot of fish. Food was just ok-expensive for breakfast standards. We will not come back, there are too many great places in Providence/East Side to settle for below average.

I told my boyfriend I wanted a good Italian grinder, and he told me that there is a good place on elmgrove ave. We walked in and I spotted another sandwich called a chicken Philly I asked for wheat bread, and he got a grilled chicken and asked for lettuce and tomato and cheese on it. So we got our 2 sandwiches and two drinks and two bags of chips. Price was very reasonable! We sit down outside and didnt get any lettuce or tomato on his and mine was made on white bread with barely anything in it... I had a bread sandwich with 2 pieces of chicken on each side... It would of been more tasty if filled. Butcher shop, you lost my business and my word of mouth. Learn how to make a damn sandwich!

The Butcher Shop is an Eastside institution. The owner is almost always on site so you know the place is going to be running smoothly. Ive had breakfast, lunch and dinner here (not on the same day) and I always leave feeling very pleased with my meals and the service. They also have a huge selection of prepared foods and a selection of meats that cant be found anywhere else nearby. They are the only place I know of that has Prime meats. Id recommend the Butcher Shop to anyone!

The Butcher Shop is far and away the best deli on the Eastside and probably the entire city. The sandwiches are huge and the cuts of meat are pure quality. If you are in the mood for a hamburger, they have an excellent one. It was too big for me to finish in at lunch. Give it a shot, youll soon agree with the neighborhood!

If you are interested in finding the finest and best cuts of meat the Butcher Shop is the place to go. Im not sure how long the owner has had this place but for at least the past 10 years he has never let me down. Hes a good guy with a quick wit and you will leave with a load of great meat and a smile on your face.

I have been coming into the Butcher Shop for years. Not only do they have top notch food but the service has been quick. The breakfasts are the best around. I LOVE the "roasted red" chicken but it is always a toss up when I am in the mood for a burger.
