We knew wanting a non-traditional wedding cake would involve finding the right baker who was willing to work with us to achieve what we wanted. We found cake at a tasting we went to and went to meet with (then-owner) Michelle who was excited to work with us to create what we wanted. We signed papers with her and it was not until months later, when trying to get in contact with her, we found out the bakery had been sold. We went in to meet with the new owner and from a tiny, grainy picture we gave the old owner she created a sample of the cake we wanted. This grew our confidence in her and we were excited to get to work with her. We had a few other phone exchanges and went in at least once more to meet with Susan and something gave us a feeling that something was not quite right. But we put our confidence in Susan to deliver what we wanted. Susan called the day before our wedding to confirm the time of the cake delivery; maybe she was pulling through. When we saw what was delivered it looked NOTHING like the sample she made us. There were way fewer pieces than we had signed a contract for, there were other assorted cut cakes and cupcakes - not at all what we asked for. We had no choice but to accept what was delivered. Our guests, who did not know what the cake was supposed to look like, said everything tasted great. We agree, the cake did taste fantastic. But it was nothing like it was supposed to look like. A few days after the event we called Susan to discuss our disappointment. She got very defensive very quickly, pulling out every excuse in the book as to why she delivered what she did and how we should have been happy with the results. Towards the end of the call she asked what we were looking for, in which we responded a refund. She yelled “FINE” and then proceeded to hang up on us. From there we opened a claim with our credit card company. They called Susan on our behalf, from which we received another phone call from Susan. She yelled at us again, getting very defensive about what she delivered to us. After a very uncomfortable back and forth she finally agreed to a 50% refund, on which we are still waiting to see on our credit card. If your gut says something is wrong, something is wrong. We wanted to have faith in Susan and trust she was going to deliver what she said she would but she didn’t. Our exchanges with her were very uncomfortable and we would not take our business back to her under any circumstances.

Just two days before our engagement party, my fiance called the bakery we had ordered our cake from to confirm a pick up time. Unfortunately this baker (which shall remain unnamed) misheard the date of our party, and they were unable (or unwilling) to rush a cake for us in time. My fiance then went to Cake. in Lexington. Frantically she explained that we needed a cake in two days. Cake did not hesitate to take our order and assure us they could make something work for us in time. We knew it was short notice so we asked for just a plain white cake knowing they were doing us a huge favor. Not only did Cake make our cake on short notice, but they went above and beyond. If you can see in the picture we got way more than a plain white cake on a rush. Cake took the time to make this beautiful two tiered, detailed master piece. We are so happy with the work that Cake did, they took care of us during a stressful situation and exceeded our expectations to ensure our engagement party was going to be special. Our guests were blown away with the presentation and we got so many compliments on how delicious it was. I only hope our actual wedding cake will be as beautiful!

Best cake ever! Nothing ever goes the way you plan when planning your wedding day. Michelle made it so none of that mattered. My silly cake design idea came to life thanks to Michelle and her team. She said she had never done anything like I was describing but that she would be happy to give it a shot. She did and she nailed it! She was also so accommodating with my husbands dairy allergy. She made the frosting from scratch and the cake was still so moist. I will continue to use Cake Inc. for all of my occasions and likely for no occasion at all. Love to Cake Inc.!!!

I called and asked if they could do small loaf cakes for favors for a party I was having: and although theyd never done it before, they were really enthusiastic to try making them. Even though they only had a few days to experiment with recipes, when I came to pick them up for my party, they were fabulous. Moist, savory and VERY chocolaty... I even asked for a list of their ingredients, in case one of my guests had allergies: and they had it ready when I came to pick them up. All in all, great job. Would recommend to everybody.

The reviews below were right. This place is the best. I was looking for a cake for my wifes birthday same day. Wanted to do something different than the typical dry cake from local bakery. Upon walking in i was greeted by host and baker. Super friendly. I inquired about a cake sameday for my wife other than selection already made in fridge. Was told no problem, 4 hours later I had an amazing cake beyond my expectations. My family enjoyed cake. Made great impression. 100 percent repeat customer for future orders. Thankyou!

Michelle is an amazing cake decorator!! She was so generous with time and resources when she donated a cake decorating party to a local school, and let me tell you! What we took away was that cake decorating at the level that she is doing it is VERY highly skilled and challenging. We all realized how much it really takes to make the cakes that she does. We should be grateful for for what they offer. Thank you!!

Best customer service EVER! On Saturday, Nov 2nd, we went to Cake Inc. to pick up a 21st birthday cake, we made a mistake when placing our order and instead of leaving there without a cake they offered us promptly solution plus offered us variety of the most delicious mini cup cakes. Very professionally held, surely we will be back for more. Thank you so very much!

Wonderful local bakery. I had a very old gift card and they honored it without a problem. I asked for a simple birthday cake with just some writing and they went above and beyond and decorated it with flowers. The one thing I will say is the cake I got was tall but only had one layer so it was very dry outside of the center.

This place is amazing! If youre ever wandering around Lexington center with a full wallet and an empty stomach, this is the place to go. Every single treat they have there is simply amazing, and the only reason you mihgt have a delay of service is beacuse you cant decide what you want to have!

We make the trip every year to Cake for my sons birthday cake and look forward to it. The owner recently changed. They were rude to my autistic son - a first in our otherwise welcoming community in Lexington. We left without ordering. I am sure we have other, equally good bakeries around.
