Horrible barista!!!! I mean, the rudest person ever to serve up a cup of coffee. Hes the older guy with grey hair and an accent. He either hates where he lives or hates his job, because his sour look and equally sour attitude is not worth coming here. My husband ACCIDENTALLY spilled his coffee, because their lids do not work on their cups, and the guy never once asked if he was ok, and never offered to help clean it or make him a new latte. He just stared straight ahead or gave dirty looks. Pretty incredible. We had just come from the hospital where my husbands father is laying in a coma and this is what we are welcomed with. Anywhere I have been and have spilled anything, they ask if Im ok and offer to make me a new of whatever I had ordered. Just so mean. Forget the fact the coffee was hot and burned my husbands leg and arm. Youre gonna have a lawsuit soon if you dont fix your lids and your attitude. Youre a BARISTA!!!! I dont really know where the attitude comes from. I will tell everyone I know about this place. This is why you should be nice, or at least fake it! There is no reason to go to this place Non whatsoever. I really wanted to like it. I cannot let people be this mean to other people.

I really like black coffee and espresso. This is a great shop for me. Service is unusually detailed for a coffee shop. Customers are gently encouraged to have their drinks at the shop, and water is served with all of the drinks. The coffee is consistently excellent. Selections vary frequently but are always a good presentation of the coffee. The drip coffee is always fresh tasting and definitely your best to go option. This is a shop where you can be sure the proprietors are tasting the coffees, and if you share their taste, you will be delighted with the service you receive. No need to be shy here if you like to chat about coffee. Its a great place to find very fresh whole bean. They dig deep into the Barrington Coffee Roasters catalog and usually feature another specialty roasters coffee as a guest. If you have never tasted two different types of espresso side by each, you can try it here. This is a coffee place, so you may be disappointed if you come looking for fast food offerings or service. If you are seeking great flavors in coffee, make this shop a destination.

This cafe reminds me of Europe, terrible customer service! We sat down at 11:15 on a Sunday morning and waited for the line at the counter to clear. I went up to order at 11:25 and asked to have my coffee in a to go cup so it would stay warm while I sat at the cafe. The owner refused to let me have a to go cup justifying his behaviour by telling me that I had "made a bad impression" by sitting down before ordering. While his staff are kind and try to be helpful he manages to belittle his customers and makes having coffee at his shop a stressful experience. Not a nice place to bring your work to sit for an hour. The owner will probably tell you what he told me, "do you need directions to the library?"

Cafe Fixe opened while I lived in Washington Square in 2010, and although Ive since moved to the South End, I still make the trek out to Brookline for their espresso. Hands down, they make best lattes in and around Boston. Dont go here expecting quick service, but quality and taste you can count on is well worth the wait.

If you are looking for a place to buy freshly roasted coffee beans, check out Cafe Fixe. I was very impressed to find that all of their beans have a sticker displaying when they were roasted, none were older than a week (fresh roast every Tuesday). A 12 oz bag costs around $17 and comes with a free cup of coffee.

The finest terroir-sensitive, light to medium roast brews in Brookline (and along with its sister, 7 Pond Cafe in JP, the best in the Metro Boston area): great beans, lattes, ristrettos, granola, Spanish fig bars, and jazz, et al. Bright, with pleasant tho limited seating. Caring service.

Hit-or-miss coffee shop. Some of the baristas are skilled enough to reliably make good espresso drinks, some are not. Some of the staff are really friendly and helpful, others are decidedly not. Pastries are so-so. Wait times for drinks can be painfully long.

Coffee is pretty good but not amazing (coffee was a bit unbalanced/under-roasted to be specific, and the frothed milk had too much air) . Still, much better than Starbucks. It is also a bit pricey - a latte and one pastry ran me almost $8.

Incredibly rude and amazingly snobbish. I respect knowledge and taste - I really do - but theres no excuse for such awful customer service. Especially after my friend and I were very friendly and good-natured. Avoid it at all costs!

Always a good cup of coffee. They get coffee and arent over the top about it. Every detail is well thought out too, like humidity control etc. This is a no brainer if you are close by and need a good cup of coffee stop here.

Minimalist, clean decor. Cozy. Excellent loose leaf tea, lots of options. Bitter coffee, probably brewed too hot. Soft, mushy croissant. No problem getting a table Sunday afternoon. Would definitely come back for tea.

Ive been there twice. The prices are quite high and both times I was nothing but pleasant to the owner, but the owner was nasty and snooty to me. Great tasting coffee, but the service left a bitter taste in my mouth.

The one thing thats keeping me from giving it that 5th star is their somewhat high Credit Card minimum price. It makes it hard for people who dont carry much cash. Amazing coffee though, among the top in Boston.

Starbucks across the street was packed. No seating anywhere. How thankful I am that it was so busy! I enjoyed a beautiful and delicious latte here instead. Beautiful interior, very intimate. Skip Starbucks.

Simply the best coffee shop in Brookline if not all of Boston. If you are a coffee snob, you cannot beat this place. Great care is taken in every drink and it shows in the presentation and the taste.

I love this place: delicious intense espresso in appropriately small servings. The macchiato is perfect and the milk drinks are poured expertly. Minimal decor, talented baristas. Go there.

Cafe Fixe makes the best lattes Ive ever had. You wont be able to drink the swill from the coffee chains after youve had a latte from here. Gets crowded so make friends and share a table!

Quiet, nice cafe at Washington square. I like to work there during the weekends, but it doesnt have wifi (at least on weekends), so plan accordingly if you will need internet

Came in for a macchiato and my girlfriend got a peppermint tea. Excellent service, very friendly. Espresso and tea were both great for reasonable prices!

The coffee is ok (much better at 4A) and the service is obnoxious. If you like waiting long for your coffee and be treated like a peasant, then go there.

Quality coffee! They really know what they are doing with making delicious drinks. Not a huge breakfast selection, but they do have scones etc.

Weve been going there regularly for two years and always had friendly service. The coffee can be a bit bitter, but its a nice place.
