I had a party of eight friends, one of which who the worst experience had suggested this restaurant to eat. We traveled an hour to come to this restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly. However the server did not come to our table right away. Then she asked that we excuse her. We had to wait for her to come to the table for her to leave again without our order for at least drinks. The first thing we noticed is that the server uniform was dirty. What took out mostly was that her sleeves were stained from her wrist to her elbow with food. Throughout the night the server kept reaching over our food, she was holding the container for the drinks and pouring our drinks over our heads. One person in our party was denied her request to place her meal order during the orders for the appetizers for the rest of the party. One individuals water had black particles floating in it. One person drink was never refilled. The house salads did not look fresh. The lettuce was started to wilt. One person in our party requested plastic cutlery due to some health experiences he experienced in the past. Personally I did not think that he had to share his health experience to get plastic cutlery. He was denied plastic utensils by the server. He requested to speak with the manager who told him he could not provide him plastic utensils. He then stepped away from the table to speak with the owner. The owner also refused to give him plastic cutlery and told him that his establishment was not for us and the end result was that the police was going to be called on our party. One individual in our party food was cold. Another individual chicken marsala was undercooked. This person did not want to add to the current situation so this person did not complain to management about their food. Two people in our party ordered a platter that was supposed to come with two sides. The individuals were not informed that the sides they were not available until the food came to the table. The waitress never offered a replacement for the sides that was not available. The waitress still charged them. When it was time to pay the individuals brought the issue to the waitress attention. She said that the sides to their meals were “complementary”. Stated that there was nothing should do for the pricing. Nevertheless, we ended up having to speak to a manager again after much debated, he finally corrected the price for the two who did not get what they paid for. As we were leaving out for the night there was another customer who was outside throwing up. She told us that she thought it was the food she ate there. Our experience was horrible.

One of the WORST experiences I have ever had! THE HOST WAS OUTRAGEOUSLY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. I have never reviewed anything on Yelp before, but I felt the need to share my experience... We have come to G&M once before and loved the crab cakes so since we had family visiting from up North, we decided this would be the perfect place to take them. Upon entering, the host informed us that we could not be seated until the entire party was present. This was fine with me, however his tone was unexpectedly rude. I asked for a menu to look at while we waited and he did not even look at me as he shoved it into my hand (the restaurant was not busy, he simply seemed to be in a bad mood). This was our first impression. We sat with a server named Melody who was wonderfully attentive and sweet. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we left happy customers. Upon returning home I realized that I had left my cell phone on the table. We tracked the phone back to the restaurant and called to make sure they still had it. The same host answered the phone and told us to try back tomorrow. He said that no one had turned in the phone and that there was nothing he could do for us. We assured him that it was still at the restaurant (since we were using a tracker) and that we were on our way back to pick it up. Im not sure why this upset him, but he began to yell over the phone saying that he would lock the doors if we tried to return to the restaurant and hung up the phone. HE ALSO REFUSED TO LET US SPEAK WITH A MANAGER BY LYING AND SAYING THAT HE WAS THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT. Im not sure why he refused to look for the phone or even talk to us. We returned to the restaurant. There was a sign on the door saying that it was closed even though it was an hour before the closing time listed on the website and there were still patrons inside. An employee finally unlocked the door and the host screamed from behind him that were not allowed inside the facility. He closed the door and we were left shocked and confused. Never did we raise our voice or argue with this man...I simply wanted to retrieve my property. Needless to say, we will not be giving our business to him in the future. Felt uncomfortable voicing our concerns. The host treated his customers with an unprofessional and disrespectful attitude. I truly hope that his true colors come to light and he is stripped of his position. He was one of the nastiest people I have ever come in contact with in my entire life. Please think twice before choosing G&M.

Update Jan 17. I went back to G&M to watch a playoff game, ordered a beer then the real reason I was there, that tasty crab cake sandwich! My mouth was watering thinking about it. I got it minus the bun but did get fries, just in the mood, no tarter sauce rather extra cocktail sauce. I was settling in my bar stool as the playoff games were just starting...yes, this is going to be an awesome day...not so fast skippy! My meal came out in less then 2 minutes. Crab cake sandwich, bun, tarter sauce and what looked like OLD fries. I fact the entire meal must of been sitting under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. Some leftover meal that the COOK pawned off on me. To say my entire meal was disgusting is understatement. It was a pure blunder! So much for consistency! Im out, moving on to a better restaurant. That was just sad! A peer told me if I wanted to experience the best crab cake in MD to get to G&M. She wasnt wrong! Thanks "S!" I went for lunch and ordered the (suggested) crab cake sandwich, no bun, and fries. This is cheaper than the single crab cake platter and its the same sized crab cake; just 1 vice 2 sides. You dont need 2 sides here people. I watched as these monster cakes kept rolling out of the kitchen. Their shear physical size is incredible. Theres no screwing around here folks - this is Crab Cake Country! They broil their crab cakes here, my preference over fried and they dont go filler happy. I was stuffing my face with bite after bite of tasty, real chunks of crab without any crunching from shells. With or without sauce, this was clearly the best crab cake Ive ever had at a restaurant. The portion? My lunch portion was the size of a - (quotes from other reviewers nailed it) SOFTBALL! The fries were oversized steak fries cooked correctly too. I downed the crab but couldnt handle all the fries. What an excellent meal! I sat at the bar so and my service was stellar from Crystal. Thanks Crystal! Cleanliness was average for a very old establishment, 3 of 5. Outdated a little? Yes, but did I mention the crab cakes? Whether alone, on a date, or a family day, you must get in your car or Uber and get over to G&M. Its that friggin good people! Now go!
