We have family in Cambridge and, sometime during every holiday visit, we stop by to get Peking House carryout as it is a place that our local family likes to get Chinese food. In our humble opinion, the food we receive from Peking House is average... and average rates three stars in our book. The food tastes good, but the finishing touches just are never there. Fried chicken dishes (orange chicken, crispy chicken, general Tsos, etc...) taste fine but never have the crisp exterior and soft, cooked interior that we are used to at the places we frequent. The dishes are basically just mushy though, as noted, tasty. Dishes like chicken & broccoli are fine, just nothing special and a bit bland (but then, that dish is fairly bland). Fried rice... theirs tastes fine, but it just does not have the fried texture we are used to. Seems like steamed brown rice tossed in a wok for a second or two. Lastly, the spring rolls we have had there did have a nice, crisp skin but they are about 1/2 the size we are used to and the ones we received seem to have been about 1/2 filled (aka about 1/2 empty). Our family lives about 3 minutes from Peking House, and we are typically standing at the counter when our order is completed and ready to go... so its not that we leave the food inside the carryout bag (to get soggy or mushy) for more than 5 minutes. its just the way things have been. We ate there as a group (party of about 10) and the experience was about the same. Decent taste. Not overly expensive. OK service. Just not exactly what I would call good Chinese food based on our experiences elsewhere. The potential is there, they just need to up their game when finishing the dishes and with presentation.

This would be a fantastic restaurant if the sushi was really fresh, that is the key to good fish, the freshness....nothing else. You can doctor it up and it is ok, but day old fish is not the best. Also I think that sometimes they have a substitute chef....once I had to wait 1/2 hour for pork lo mein takeout, we could not eat the pork, it was like leather....the taste of the lo mein was terrible.....but next time tried the shrimp lo mein and was alot better. Im surprised that the sushi isnt supurb but only good....they are so close to water.....the freshness is lacking that is why I only order rolls, camafloges the taste of the day old fish. Not that day old fish is bad, just the taste is lacking.

We have not been to the Peking House in quite some time. That said, at that time, our experience was good overall. We ate lunch on this particular visit. Our waitress was super friendly. The food was not bad; definitely a step up from a takeout joint, but it should be as the price is a considerably more. As for the atmosphere, it was just OK; dated to say the least. They have a really nice bar, but I can not speak as to its service. All-in-all, I would consider going back, perhaps for a dinner next time.

Delicious!!! Full-bodied flavor! The prices are a little higher than Im used to paying elsewhere; but, the flavor... YUM! We were leary about visiting because no cars but the food is good and plenty of people visited after we sat down. Waitress was really sweet. Shrimp Bomb Sushi had an excellent flavor! Now, were going to enjoy fried ice cream... Very interesting! Vanilla ice cream in tempura batter?! Great flavor. The interior is a little dated; but, food & smiling service makes up for it!!!

We like chinese. We live near DC and also have a house here. Wed love to have a great Chinese place nearby but this isnt great. Its "good". Simple dishes are good, dumplings, lo mein and wontons very doughy. Saucy dushes tend to drown so we ask for "light" sauce. We need to try the other local chinese places. Until we find anything better well come back, but not often.

Ive had my fair share of experiences at overpriced, run-of-the-mill chinese restaurants. This wasnt one of them. The sushi rolls were very tasty, and crafted to perfection. And the lo-mien that I ordered was such a huge portion that I had to box it up and eat it later on my drive home (7 hours). I highly recommend going to the Peking House, if not just for the sushi.

8/30/16 8PM Called ordered Shrimp egg foo young. Eggroll...$10.xx total Patties tasted like old oil/ burnt and dry texture but huge portion. Very few shrimp, thin patties dry and seemed old. Gravy was watery, ok flavor but no texture. Jar diluted grave like. Eggroll was good. Been here before and it was ok, hope they tighten up quality. Every customer matters.

We have gone there a couple of times and the food, service, and prices are all very good. The quality of the food is very good and the place is clean. The interior looks a bit dated but thats the only negative thing I can say.

Worst restaurant I have eaten in. Took the whole family. We were 7 people. We had just arrived from out of town. The chicken and brocolli was the worst I have ever tasted. The staff were very rude. Such a waist of my money.

This is THE BEST Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at(and I love my Chinese food!). The food is awesome, the best general tsaos chicken and egg drop soup. And the prices are pretty cheap!

It looks skeevy on the outside. It is NOT on the inside. It is brand new and might have the best Chinese food Ive ever had. It sounds strange, but this place is a must
