In Hong Kong, you have noodle shops chock-a-block. In New York, maybe at least a decent one in most neighborhoods (still probably less than 20 or 30 in all of NYC). In Baltimore City, Zhong Shan is the ONLY authentic chinese noodle shop in town (make that the ONLY authentic chinese restaurant in town!). Truth be told, the proprietors would make a better living running a lunch counter to cater to the surrounding population. But they seem to take pride in trying to dish out the more authentic stuff. Maybe someone didnt tell them there wasnt an urban chinese population (even in chinatown) to support that business model, when they bought the place. Nevermind, theyve plastered up pictures of Sun Yat Sen (restaurant is named after him) and are going to give it a go. People complaining about the quality of the food better re-evaluate their situation. Last I checked, they dont serve cantonese wontons at McDonalds or even at the Lucky Dragon takeout. Roast duck? These folks will do just fine, until the next master chef arrives from Beijing.

Visited it from downtown on Sunday. Found we were the only customer at 130pm. Owner and staffs were chatting, and turned on the light and aircon right after we sat down. It smelled mouldy in first 10mins ... we ordered some dimsums. All of them were home made but not sure whether they were freshly made or heated up from frozen, especially the pork dumpling, they didnt taste fresh though. The rice roll with shrimp was the best, I can guarantee this was freshly made and the rice was so good, not too stickly. Shrimp dumpling tasted good too. Environment and service brought down the overall rating...food was alrite...worth tobtry if you never had dimsum before,.its the only restaurant you can taste canton.dim sum.

The restaurant got my order wrong. Call the restaurant and was guaranteed my correct order will be delivered to my hotel. However, after half an hour, make another call and was told that no one can deliver the order to me, despite the fact that the DM of the restaurant says they deliver. The restaurant even tried to charge me the wrong order. Although I am a Chinese and is quite supportive to Chinese restaurants, I cant support Zhongshan restaurant not only because the poor service, but also the taste of the meals (not my order) is terrible. Wish I can give 0 star to the Zhongshan restaurant.

Ive been to some pretty subpar restaurants before. That being said, this one took the cake for most bland food as well as horrific service. Waitress took it upon herself to blatantly ignore me when trying to order. Even after ordering, she threw the receipt at me. Still, trying to be a respectful human, I dealt with it. When the food arrived she didnt speak just slammed it on the table. When my son and I began to ate, we looked at one another in disgust. All on all, nothing was enjoyable about the service or the food. There are better places to waste $34.

Im usually a picky eater, but this restaurant has caught my eye, especially with good reviews of it. So, today my family and I went to Zhongshan Restaurant to try it out. The atmosphere was very elegant, and clean(better than the other chinese restaurants i have been). The food was delicious! My favorite was the mini sweet rice with lotus leaves, chinese steamed cake, pumpkin rice cake, shanghai juicy buns in the dim sum menu. I havent tried the dishes yet, but i think this restaurant is going to be on my top list. I might have to go there again tonight!

I have been to dozens of Chinese restaurants around Baltimore and hundreds all over the US. This place is ABSOLUTELY the best in Baltimore and probably in my top 3 that I have ever been. The menu selection is excellent, the quality of food is amazing, and the staff are without a doubt the friendliest and most attentive that you will find in any restaurant period. I cant say enough about this place. From this point forward, it will be my "go-to" place when I want some great sit-down Chinese food.

Worst dim sum experience weve ever had. Chicken feet has no seasoning here, horrible beef tripe with no seasoning as well. Both items were super watery l. Shrimp balls were overcooked and fell apart. The one okay piece was the shu Mai. But, we had he most horrible customer service ever from the rude waitress, and total disrespect from management. They ignored us through the process, very slow in cooking ( 1 hour total to get all of our plates out on a slow day). Wish we could give them a 0

Great the first time, but the second time I ordered the food never arrived, I called after 1 1/2 hours and they said the delivery person was on his way, an hour later I call again and they told me that theyd lost contact with him. The food never arrived - rather than refunding the meal I never received they told me they would give me a 10% discount next time - living on a different planet.

Extremely pleased! Food was excellent. Wonton soup was particularly good with plenty of meat and thinner noodles for the wontons and tasty greens (pork pieces would have been nice too though). Spring roll was delicious, albeit a bit greasy. Food had that authentic slightly vinegar flavor thats hard to find--yum. Waitress was almost too nice. Prices were probably a little too high.

Pinapple chicken with shrimp was the bomb. My friends got flank stake with lo main. Im a butcher and find it hard to find flank stake done very well. All the food was fresh. I also didnt understand any of the negative reviews. If you are into good food with out the high end prices then I suggest you go early. Real flank stake. Real good flank stake

I cant even give this place 1 star. Spent $70 + on delivery for dinner and not one thing was good. Egg drop was soured, crunchies - stale, spring roll very greasy, sesame chicken nasty and soured, loe main very garlicy, general tso - had to spit it out, hot n sour soup bad. Completely wasted my money on this place, had to buy dinner somewhere else.

Host/server was incredibly rude, took about 20 minutes to ask for our order, was not informed about what the menu items were, never gave us water, and snatched the menus from us. Food was decent at best, but nothing special. And its true-- the Asians that arrived after us were served faster... Rude.

This restaurant is close to my job and they always have bags of trash outside that had been torn open. I believe that is a disgrace. That says a lot about the cleanliness inside. Nope i will never est there. They are the reason that the rats are so abundant.

Really good Chinese food thats not at all greasy. I have only had better in San Francisco. Great flavor, meat that doesnt look barely edible, and great steamed pork buns and steamed dumplings. Best to call in an order and pick up, delivery takes a long time.

From someone from the west coast who has hot pot for most of his life this is the most disappointing place I have ever been. Basically the hot soup base is not hot, the ingredients is not fresh and most of the items we want is not available.
