Dear Managers, I met my Daughter and her family Saturday at the inner harbor we chose your restaurant for a good Irish experience however your server worked really hard ruining the experience forcing me to beg for my check please enjoy the highlights • Party size six four adults and two children • Sat outside upstairs • Placed our beverage ordered o Slow o So slow my Irish coffee came out cold almost like coffee milk • Placed food order o People who sat 10 to 15 minutes after we placed our order received their entrees before ours ( same server) • Food came out o Presentation poor o Servers extremely confused o Minus one order Mine ( soft shell crab sandwich) o However server did explain twice I was ordering a crab in shell ( confirmed twice) o Server disappeared for several minutes o Finally the server came over and asked how was everything I indicated not well did not receive my order ( family now has completed 60% of their meals) server apologies Less than five minutes another server rush out with a substitute meal ( crab ball sandwich) I indicated this was not what I ordered two servers stared at each other our original server said “ I am sorry I wanted to get you something so I grabbed the next dish” I really wanted to be caustic however the day was already ruin by your staff Server offered to remove my drink from bill I said no just get my bill so I can leave Server came with Bill “so sorry so sorry” I ask you what is missing ? How about training, selecting people who have worked in the industry with a proven track record, a manager on staff who cares, a system that excels when mistakes are made you get the point. As a side note we first had taken a table downstairs we excused ourselves and indicated we were going upstairs there server said “ good place for drink not for food and service” This was not our first trip to the inner Harbor and not our last. I suspect since a manager was not invited to our table this service and reckless attitude is part of your business culture. As person who builds teams and business culture I would strongly recommend ( free of charge) reading “ Raving Fan” by Ken Blanchard. In closing I do not expect a response but glad I shared this experience with you. I paid my invoice of $80.00 plus dollars and tipped the server 15% could not take this out completely on server, server is only part of a system who supports bad service and should not be totally held responsible.

Our first time was pretty good. My wife and I just moved to Baltimore and we came to take a walk around the Inner Harbor to see all of the tourist attractions. It was mid-afternoon on a Saturday, so naturally the whole area was quite busy with people, but we stopped in for a late lunch just to give Tir Na Nog a try. My wife had the appetizer chicken fingers ($10) which positively surprised us when it came with fries, and I had the roast beef on sour dough sandwich ($11), also with fries. Our waitress, Francesca (sorry if any misspelling) was polite and efficient without being over-the-top. In addition to our meal, my wife and I both had a beer ($6 taps) while we enjoyed the view of people meandering about the harbor walkways. Overall, the lunch menu is basic but is consistent with an Irish-American restaurant trying to appeal to the tastes of mass numbers of tourists. We did see, however, some very delectable looking dinner entrees being served to others around us and next time we will try some of those. Our lunch entrees, particularly my sandwich, were tasty although very simple (the fries were neither seasoned nor salted) and came in very decent portions. The atmosphere was nice although we didnt take much time to look around, and the view of the Inner Harbor area was great from the second-floor vantage point. Overall our experience was good and we were happy with our meals and our service. All together, our two entrees and three beers came to about $41.50 with tax included, on top of which I left an $8.50 tip to round to an even $50. In all reality, it is the location that makes this place what it is, which is a good place to grab a meal that will appeal to a large number of people along the harbor, so long as they arent afraid to let the moths, as well as a couple of extra pennies slip of out their wallets. Sure the same meals are likely available at other locations outside of downtown Baltimore at half the price, but the convenience of its location, the view of the harbor and people, as well as not needing to drive 5mi out of the way just to pay to park your car again are what make Tir Na Nog Bar & Grill a good place to enjoy a meal and a drink.

My boyfriend and I went here for an early dinner on St. Patricks Day. There were a decent amount of people. but it wasnt overcrowded. First of all, they wouldnt seat us outside. They took us to a table by the big window so we could see outside, but we had our son in a stroller with us and the table they took us to was up some stairs, so they instructed us to abandon the stroller at the front of the restaurant. I shouldve walked out at that point. So were seated and the waitress ignores us to talk to people who were next to us, even though we were there first. As she rushed past me she mumbled something like "Ill be right with you". It took her about 15 minutes to even come back for our drink order, with no apology I might add. We ordered sodas and both ordered a bowl of soup. The soup took a long time to arrive and when mine came it had a hunk of cold butter floating in it...ICK! I tasted it anyway, and to my surprise the potato leek soup does not contain pieces of potato or leeks! So after a few attempts I finally manage to flag down the waitress. I asked her why the soup I ordered was just broth and she said "its a blended soup". I am very familiar with the concept of a blended soup and let me tell you that this soup had no potatoes in it at any point, and since when do leeks liquefy? So essentially what they call "potato leek soup" is thin, milky, buttery stock with some chives thrown in. Anyway, I made it clear that I didnt like it and it took another 20 minutes for someone (a busser) to come around and take it back. Oh, and she hasnt taken our entree order either at this point and our drinks are empty too. When she finally came back we told her we wouldnt be ordering an entree due to the poor service, got the check, and left. I wouldve asked to speak to the manager, but figured Id have no luck since we couldnt even get ahold of our waitress. Oh well. At least my boyfriend liked his crab soup. That is the only good thing I have to say about this place. If you are thirsty, hungry, have a toddler with you, or want to dine outside in nice weather I wouldnt recommend this restaurant.

Ate here with a group of coworkers for dinner mid-week. For the most part, the food was tasty, well-prepared, and well-presented. But there were a few things that prevent it from getting a higher rating: Crab dip - A very small portion for the price. The top was burned (not blackened--BURNED and very unappetizing looking). It was served only with Ritz crackers. Are you kidding me? Would never order again. Pita sandwich - The "grilled" pita was too tough to cut or eat. I think that, by grilled, they meant that they left it out for a few days and then microwaved it before serving. Other than that, the food was tasty and tastefully presented. The shepherds pie wasnt too greasy; the salads were fresh. The service, unfortunately, was rather unprofessional. Timing of courses delivered was off. Also, the menu states that everything on the sandwich menu comes with fries. The pita I ordered did not. When brought to the servers attention, she said that sometimes they dont include them with the pitas but that she could bring them out no charge if I wanted. Well, yes, I would like to receive what I ordered, thanks. Three people at our table got coffee after dinner; all were cold. The server apologized but made no attempt at service recovery (e.g. taking them off the bill). Bottom line: The food is good, but not worth it for the sub-par experience. There are plenty of better waterfront places in this town.
