My girlfriend and I got breakfast hear on our last day on the island. It was bittersweet; this place is great - one of the best places on the island, so were glad we discovered it, but we wished wed had more meals here, as oppose to some of the mediocre competitors. Ambiance is a mix, the place is very nicely decorated, but a little crowded. This is due to the popularity and simply that its a small spot. Some tables are better than others, we happened to get one of the worst seats in the house, I could hear every detail of our neighbors conversations on both sides of us. The service was good. Nothing more to say. The food is where this place really shines. It was extremely high quality. One rarely is shocked by the quality of breakfast food but this place is definitely the exception. I HATE being in crowded places, but I loved this place because the food was so good it made up for the crowding. The portions are moderate, but the quality is outstanding and makes up for it. I only wish we had known about it earlier so we could have tried dinner there. Most places on Bar Harbour are of mediocre quality, its a tourist based economy and most of the restaurants reflect that, they are mediocre quality and overpriced. This place is the exception.

This place is a must. Weather permitting, they allow dogs on the covered porch area. Even though it was a bit late, a little busy, and a bit chilly, they let us on the porch with our pup as long as we didnt mind there being no heat. Our poor waitor braved the chill and served us without blinking an eye. The food here is phenomenal if you dont mind a different take on things. The shepherds pie is nothing like what you would expect; the base was a Croquette with layered mashed potatoes and corn chowder. Had a tantalizing mint watermelon salad for an appetizer and the desserts were delicious, hand-made in house or by a local place around the corner. We came back for breakfast and its the same as before; food was delicious and interesting, service was warm and impeccable. The atmosphere is charming. The little unassuming shop is nestled down a driveway out of view. The porch is sectioned off by a garage door that they open (weather permitting) to allow more guests and dogs to join the show. A book wall behind us was jammed full of sea worthy novels and salty titles. The ceiling has an artistic installation of the cafes logo, which resembles a whirlpool. Cafe this way does it their way, Artfully and delicious... I love it.

Went here for both breakfast and dinner and was extremely happy with both. All the food was fresh, mostly local and provided unique flavors. Breakfast - my kids 4 &2 had the pancakes which were great and served with real maple syrup. My wife had "Amys Omelette" and was happy. I had the bagel and salmon and it was very good served with a tomato, cucumber, capers "chop" which was awesome and brought great texture. Only complaint was that there could have been more Atlantic Salmon. We returned for dinner the last night of our vacation and were completely blown away! Was surprising to me because everyone raved about breakfast and reviews were mixed on dinner. All the appetizers were great especially the Brussels sprouts. I had the seafood stew and it was amazing and plentiful with lobster, shrimp and cod. Great Asian flavor with just enough spice. We dined early with our kids and they had a great healthy childrens menu that included ice cream that was very good. All around great experience. Service was OK but food more than made up for it.

There are many restaurants in Bar Harbor, ME, but many restaurants are OVERRATED. especially this one. The quality of the food is very low. It was not tasty at all. I honestly reviewed other peoples post on google and yelp, but the end result was horrible. In my opinion, people intoxicated their tongue with alcohols. Everyone in the restaurant was drinking wines, so I am pretty sure about this. Also there were plenty of tables in the restaurants, but they placed us in the bar. Before I go any further, I am Asian. I am not sure why they put us on the bar.....,but considering that staffs are all white...... I believed there was bit of discrimination. They did not even try to put us on the table. Those sits were still not occupied by the time I left the restaurant. If you really like the luxury interior with many drink options, you should go here. If you are like me who seek to eat GOOD food, DO NOT GO HERE especially if you are not white.

Great atmosphere, great service, great food. The spring rolls were amazing. If you are an appetizer person, be sure to try the spring rolls. The Seafood Noodle Bowl didnt compete with my imagination, but it did compete with my expectations. It was a tasty combo of seafood and veggies and of course noodles. The only thing that I didnt like about it was that the shrimp still had tails. The service was awesome. The server did every thing we asked and more. He even noticed (we didnt) the table wobbling, and fixed it for us. The deserts were so-so. Somewhat reasonably priced for the area.

I eat here usually several times in the summer while visiting and although some of their breakfast are fantastic others really lack thought and preparation. The "home fries" are terrible. Fried chunks of potatoes that werent fully cooked and had no flavor. The toast that came with my omelette was generic at best. I would give the place a five stars if not for these issues. The atmosphere is really fun and the omelettes and pancakes are truly yummy. For the price I would expect tastier home fries and thicker possibly homemade fresh toast as well.

Excellent food, great waitstaff - artsy dining space! While we have only eaten breakfast here, we would not hesitate to eat dinner here as well. We did try to eat dinner - just 2 adults - however since we didnt have reservations, we were told it would be almost a 2 hour wait. A little dissapoined in that there were 6 empty tables and no one waiting for them - the downfall with reservations. It is not a quite place to eat but certainly doesnt make the dining experience a bad one. All in all a great place to eat.

Okay. My service was above average. My wife and daughter had the vegetarian options. The noodles my wife had were bland. Not bad, but not really good. I went with the lobster. Maybe I just have an unrefined taste. I didnt like my sides and left them untouched. The potatoes had a herby flavor and the vegetables were chilled and pickled. With tip, dinner for 3 was slightly over a hundred. There is better food and better value out there.

Le personnel été sympa et serviable. Le repas correct. Les prix sont élevés. On a dû attendre plus de 45 minutes pour être servis car notre commande a été "perdue", mais du coup nous navons dû payé que la moitié.

I wanted to like it, maybe I got a bad dish? Had the vegan breakfast, which I think was tofu, a lot of potatoes, and some random vegetables sauteed and then swimming in VERY salty soy sauce. Im sure there are plenty of other good dishes there, since my fellow diner was very happy, but I wouldnt get this dish or just ask for it to be lighter. Great coffee and wonderful service though!
