Chefs Owners Cody and Sam Please Come See About Your Baby!!! Please know that the food has always been great at Hot Tails. However, after our Sunday, April 12, 2016 episode we will not be returning. We were a party of 2 that waited 1 hour for entrees. Why did we have to speak to 3 separate waitresses about our order? Each would tell us that it was on the way. Followed by it is being plated now. This is crazy. We had to wait an additional 15 minutes b4 the manager showed up. We spoke to the manager who was also working as the bartender. The manager advised that the reason for the delay is because a worker walked out and quit the day before. OK, note to management, who cares about what happened the night before. The manager mentioned that she has had to scream at the kitchen staff for having the orders backed up. Additionally, the manager also mentioned that she has "too many high school kids working as servers". EXCUSES were the only thing offered as a resolution to our issue. Come on Hot Tails you are too good for this mediocrity. Hot Tails offered much better service when one or both of the chef-owners were present at the restaurant.

This was the first place I ate at while in LA. It was recommended by everybody I was working with so I had to go. The blackened alligator app was amazing (first time eating alligator) and the dipping sauces were very good as well. For my main entre I was recommended by the staff and a local couple whose son was doing some of the cooking to get the soft shell crab BLT. The presentation of the meal alone was top notch. Served on a wooden cutting board with the thick steak fried in a small metal bucket. Ohh yea, the sandwich was amazing as well! Served on texas toast and almost too big to eat but every bite was delicious. Washed it all down with a $6 pitcher of beer...... cant beat that no matter where you are. I went around 5 on a Monday and there was no wait however I was told that it can get extremely busy in the evenings and weekends. Overall this place was great and will continue getting my business while Im in town!

I have been to this place more than once. Therefore I would like to think I gave it a fighting chance. My wife attempted a "take out order". The wait after ordering was nearly an hour, the order was wrong! In a previous "dine in" experience after waiting in line mind you, I was informed that no substitutes can be made on my meal. For example, I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, the seafood platter nearly $26. I dont care for soft shell crab, they wont even give me extra fries instead of the crab! Oh and get this when I get my platter there was a total of 2 fried shrimp, my favorite seafood.. The food is OK but I will not visit again. You get the price of fine dining with a fast food experience. Oh, except you can substitute this for that at a fast food joint. Pretty impersonal place. Wait in line to order, pay for your food first before even getting it. No wait staff.

Too much black pepper. Condiments bottles sticky and dirty. after six visits l have given Cody a chance. Drop the pepper by half and the food might be good. Cant tell now because of pepper, more pepper does not make Good food. Real chefs know this. I am in hopes the owners listen. I would like to have a great restaurant in town. This one misses by a long shot. Dont know why its rated at number one in the area, but it is not. Good luck with the James Beard award, you have a long way to go, but if you listen, you might make it.

The food was fantastic. I stuck with the fried seafood and wasnt disappointed. It could be a little spicey for weak palettes, but it was perfect for me. The bread posting is great too. You order at the register and they bring the food to you. The Girls that bring out the food are cute and friendly. Nice atmosphere too

I think the place is great but my wife is not convinced. She feels that its average at best. It is unique for sure. Its popular with the locals. The batter that every thing is fried in is too spicy for my kids to eat. The burgers are great and the fried seafood is good. There is a long wait during peak hours.

Drove 45 minutes here, as we had heard great things. Very long wait for dinner, the infamous burger that we waited so long for... got to our table RAW in the middle. NOT the best experience ever. Then we spoke to management - and they acted like, sorry - wish I could make it up to you, but I cant. Wow.

Food used to be good when the owner was running the kitchen. Food is horrible now. And I find it sad that its supposedly rated the best restaurant in town. I refuse to eat somewhere, where the chicken or fish is raw everytime we go. Cody letting someone else run that kitchen was the worst thing he did.

So good. Amazing flavor everywhere and a kitchen staff that earnestly wants to make sure you loved your food. Casual concept: order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. But dont be tricked into thinking this is just casual food; its extraordinary.

Horrible. After waiting over 2 hours to be told that the seafood was frozen solid and could not be cooked. Kitchen was so bad we ended up being served dessert before the entrees were served. they did one thing right by making you pay b4 u eat.

Food is really good, but weve learned not to go at peak hours, because the staff just cant keep up. Go for late lunch or early dinner and save yourself aggravation.
