Most dive bars have a limited dive bar menu -- jalapeño poppers, french fries, hot wings, and other crap youd expect to find in a bar. Brightside has all that stuff, but they have some really good specials too. Specials include meatloaf, fried pork chops, crawfish (when in season) and other stuff. Whats truly mindblowing is that their catfish acadiana (fried catfish fillets drenched in crawfish ettouffee, served with rice) is on-par with some of the more expensive restaurants around town, but cheaper. Im too old to drink at Brightside, but I must say they have some really good food -- as a restaurant, the place is underrated. As a bar, it delivers pretty much the same thing all dive bars deliver -- cheap drinks, drunken college girls, an overpriced jukebox, and a layer of scum and filth that hasnt been cleaned since the 90s.

Owner tried to fight me today over a bottom hamburger bun... After waiting for 45 minutes, I got 5 burgers, all of which had hard, burnt bottom buns. Went back to the bartender and kindly asked her for replacements. Waitied 5 minutes and 4 buns came out. Waited 5 more minutes and asked the bartender about the 5th bun.. Then the owner, Darrel, was very rude to her, saying "I GAVE YOU 5 BUNS ALREADY, YOU DONT NEED ANYMORE!!"... I stood up and told him that he only gave 4, after which he came out harassing me.. And Im not having it, so he starts picking a fight... We leave and he chases us trying to fight us.. over a damn hamburger bun... DO NOT GO HERE!

Had a terrible customer service experience about 1 hour ago. I would like to speak with the manager/supervisor. I was cursed out by a friend-customer-employee and not accomodated. Your bartender entertained his rudeness as well, by engaging in the conversation about me. So Noo I didnt get my food . Thats okay bc the bartender says they will eat it. I did not expect to walk into a establishment and damn near get ambushed by the customer who works there sometimes...called a B**** and told F me. While the bartender is not trying to accommodate me.

Brightside has gone beyond the "Gratuity included on a table of 8 or more" and extended it to individuals. They include a tip as part of the bill and then they get angry when you dont add an additional tip. Why not just raise the price of booze instead? Why get all pompous and say "If youre drinking here youre gonna pay extra and theres nothing you can do about it." Other than that the service is good. I dont think the waitstaff really likes enforcing the mandatory tip thing but they do it if they want to keep their jobs.

I really LOVE this place. I live across the street and just started going recently. I am on a mission to try everything on the menu and so far everything has been fabulous. from the outside it doesnt look like much, but they have the best burger "the brightside bomber" I have ever had. Oh and I have never had a bill above 10 bucks (20% tip included). I have never heard about the mandatory tipping thing. They may not do it anymore.

Do not waste your time or money at this so called "bar and grill". Even if there are only two or three people other than yourself at the bar, you will definitely NOT get any service. The bar tenders will straight up ignore you. When, not if, you get your order and its wrong the owner, Daryl, will insist you have the right order. Again, DO NOT bother going to this place where mediocre food and horrible service is present.

I must say the food here is really good, for bar food. When crawfish are in season this is a great place to go! Not many people know they have good crawfish and they are usually priced just the same as any other restaurant. If you can tolerate the same nastiness/whole in the wall bar that Brighside is you will like this place. Their Bloody Marys are on point as well! Cheers!

Good food! The onion rings, burgers, crawfish, and surprisingly, the salad, are really good! Buffalo chicken tenders are great but SPICY. The owner was always nice and caring to me, so I dont know what the other reviewers are talking about. Mel is great too. Some of the servers arent that great though, but overall its a good place!

Some of the best random conversations Ive had have been on the patio of Brightside Bar and Grill. Ive met people I will never forget. The food is ok, the drinks are cheap, and they have trivia every Monday night for house cash. A great hang out spot for college students or if youre just bored with nothing to do.

Their crawfish, burgers, and fried pickles are amazing. I havent tried anything else yet but I love going here for their specials and to watch a game or two. Wish the place was a little cleaner, other then that great restaraunt... One of my favorites in the LSU area for burgers and such.
