Based on the price point, a few things surprised us: -it was seat-yourself and no one greeted us (despite passing several staff who could have said hello) -the napkins were small and paper -I saw another review that mentioned complimentary bread, but we did not get any (nor was it offered) The service: -it was very slow even though our waitress did not seem busy (we are sympathetic to that). Our waiter seemed generally oblivious, walking past us multiple times after we closed our menus and set them aside to signal we were ready to order. It then took an inordinate amount of time for the food to arrive. The food: -My husband said he had a better Reuben sandwich at Applebees (which my family jokingly refers to as Crapplebees, so you can imagine my surprise). He said the bread was soggy and the flavor was bland. His fries had a lovely texture but were also under seasoned/unsalted. -I have never had a cobb salad that bad. The plating was very odd aesthetically. There were only two small slivers of avocado and two slices of egg. The chicken looked and tasted as if it sat for awhile before it was served. It was dried out and very bland/unseasoned. I would not have minded that the chicken, bacon, and lettuce were not chopped except that the waitress only gave us forks. I had to ask for a knife. Their cobb also comes with beans on it, which given the small quantities of more expensive ingredients seemed like a cheap way to fill the plate. The dressing was tasty but do not expect traditional blue cheese dressing; it is a blue cheese vinaigrette. The decor: -Adorable! Bottom line: go here if you have ample time to wait on service and you dont plan to eat. I seriously doubt we will go back. Edit: To be clear: I am not confused, just disappointed. I have been to casual cafes in other countries where I enjoyed great food and service. I have also eaten fusion and non-American cuisines that I found delightful. This execution just missed the mark for me. That said, I do appreciate a response from the owner. I sincerely wish you luck in your efforts and believe your restaurants concept and ambiance has the potential to make for an overall lovely restaurant.

We had originally wanted to go Saul Good, which was kitty-corner to this place, but they were closing early, so we ended up here. To put it simply, this place should have spent less money decorating the place to look like a hipsters living room and more money on hiring a good chef. It took forever to get the waitress to come back after seating us. Eventually got our drinks and the soda was flat. Finally got some bread, but it came about 3 minutes before our food. The food was just flat out not good. I got a barbecue pizza and it was nothing special, but at least the dough seemed to be made there. I have made better pizzas at home in my oven, so when I go out and pay $12 for a 10" pizza, I am looking for a bit more. My friend got the ribs and they were downright awful. They must have been steamed, or microwaved, but whom ever did whatever they did to those poor baby-backs should be ashamed of themselves. On top of all that, the BBQ sauce that my friend had to ask for was clearly straight from a bottle. I would put my money on it being Sweet Baby Rays Original if I had to guess. Not what you would expect from a place like this. The only positive on the place was they did not charge us for the ribs. We didnt complain, ask to see a manager, or any of that. When the waitress asked how the food was, we said the ribs were not really that good. Thats it. For that, I give them a lot of credit.

This place has so much potential to be an awesome restaurant. I really wish it was good because they have a great location and atmosphere. Sadly though there food just sucks. I got the seafood spaghetti and I figured since it was so expensive that I was in for a treat. However it was just pathetic. Generic tasting runny sauce with microwaved seafood on top of some overcooked noodles. My wife got the salad that the waitress was raving about, ended up being slightly better than my spaghetti but not by far. Overall a waste of money, if they find another cook and menu, I would love to retry it. I hope they work out their issues.

If u like flimflam and hokey doo u will love this place, but if u r more of a ting tang hemhaw like me .... Not so much. If money is no object, u will love this mediterranean inspired food. If money is an object, u will do well to get ur sammich from Subway. The food was ok, but $14 for a 6" sub that was not as good as a Subway sub ... Toban unsophisticated palette like mine. Beautiful decor though. Would be a great place for a date .... But not a bro date. I would go here again on a date, but since i live in Arkansas... Probably will never go here again. Good day.

Everyone has already mentioned that you shouldnt go here if youre on a budget, and theyre right- But today was my dads birthday, so I took him & his girlfriend out, and thats the place we happened to stumble across while walking downtown. I loved inside, not my style - but someone who loves the thought 1600-1800s surroundings and big, frilly objects, heres the place to go. Dont go there if you dont like trying new foods, but if you do then I highly recommend the bread with herbs & yogurt. You will not regret it. Definitely a restaurant I wont forget! :)

I love Shakesphere! It is the most beautiful relaxing place. My Grandchildren love going there. This is a place you can enjoy a long lunch with family or friends and they never try to rush you off! The food is wonderful. I will miss Chris, one of the managers who will be leaving.. He was so great when I got a parking ticket I had paid for> He helped me to get it resolved. You do not find people as polite and efficient as these people much anymore, To me, Shakesphere is a perfect 10

Stop for a burger and fries during burger week. Sat 30mins no service, now the restaurant wasnt slammed. But notice patrons walking in were getting service. And we were still over looked. Osnap for got to mention that we were Black.this is a break down from owner to management to staff. I will never dart this establishment doors again. SAD very much SAD for Lexington, Ky. I really didnt want to give this place a Star, but couldnt post this without one.

The Good: Bathroom is cool decorations are nice if your into antique looking stuff. The Bad: Waited for 30 minutes before we even saw a waiter. It wasnt that full, maybe 60% lots of guys just standing around. I had to go tell them no one saw us and they still took 10 more minutes. The food took forever and wasnt that good for the price. Waiters didnt give us the complementary bread until I asked for it. People there act snobish and entitled.

Had the worest experience tonight. Couple of my international customers was visiting Lexington for the first time . thought to have dinner there. Big mistake. Service slow and un professional. Server are high i think. Food came after 90 min and was cold. Manager was rude and unprofessional. I dont know what happened to this place. But not recommending down town branch to anyone. Used to be a great place. Such a waste.
