I go here multiple times (2-4) a week, so I consider myself a bit of a "regular." I have seen the best and worst of the famed El Tap but I can assure any visitor seeking the best Mexican restaurant in the area that the atmosphere, food, staff, and pricing cannot be matched. Sometimes, albeit very rarely, service can be "slow" --this seems to be the primary criticism (Sunday afternoons are arguably the busiest times); nevertheless, the definition of slow at El Tapatio equates to speedy service at any other restaurant tackling the after-church surge and in the vast majority of times Ive eaten there, I have had food in front of me within 10-15 of stepping in the door. More importantly, the food is always terrific, but that is a judgment left to each patron. The entire staff is warm and friendly and has become very familial with me. They will always ask if your meal was great and will recommend the best dishes for the best prices. It is for good reason that El Tap has risen to legendary status among Elizabethtonians. It has become a second home for me when I come back from college, is the best place to meet up with old friends, and is the best to take people visiting town -- I have yet to find someone disappointed with that choice.

I love the grilled chicken, it is so tender, juicy and full of flavor! Also note, I have eaten at this restaurant so many times in the past 5 years, that I have tried just about everything on their menu! Everything is delicious! The California Burrito (shrimp), stands out in my mind. This place is always busy around mealtime, but they really know how to handle a rush, and youll rarely wait for long, if at all, for a table! Also, when youre eating during these busy times, you wont be rushed at all, but be prepared for it to be quite loud inside, as it is one large open room, and when all the tables and booths are filled with different conversations and laughter, its loud. In my opinion, a busy place, means a good place to eat!

Every other Mexican restaurant in Elizabethtown is owned by the same company; has the same unfriendly, unattentive staff; and the same dreadful menu. But El Tapatio is the independant Mexican restaurant with great food; VERY attentive waitstaff; and a really large selection of items on the menu. We visited for the first time a few days ago, and were incredibly happy with our experience. I just wish they would ditch the cheese sauce, and give us actual melted cheese on the nachos. But no one around here does that, so whatever.

Very good food! And the food is a little cheaper than the one we usually go to. The server was very nice. But after taking our order and giving us our food, we never saw her again. So we did get any drink refills and we even had to get our own to-go trays. And there were only 4 other people there at the time, so it wasnt very busy.

My family has been eating here since it opened. We usually eat there about once a week sometimes two. The staff is very friendly and the food is AWESOME!! We used to go to another Mexican restaurant in town, but after eating here needless to say we WONT be going back to the other! Love it!

Absolutely horrible food! I was in town visiting from Louisville & ate here with my family who recommend it. The Fajitas were bland & with hardly any steak & their only salsa option tasted like Ketchup & lacked any spice at all. The service was also very slow.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. So good every time. Great prices and friendly waiters. They bring you a big bowl of salsa not a tiny one. Food is prepared quick never a long wait. Go here for your Mexican food cravings you wont be disappointed.

The service was slow and rude. When I told our waiter that there was a hair in my daughters food he acted like it was my fault and an inconvenience. The entire visit we were treated as unwelcome guests. Definitely wont go back.

The food was wonderful! I havent had Mexican food this good since I left Texas! The spinach quesadilla with chicken fajita meat was AMAZING! My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. The service was friendly and prompt.
