Worst campground I have ever stayed at. Will never go back!! I dont know how this campground got any stars!! If I am rating the beach, lake or even the surrounding area it would get all 5 stars. Beach area was gorgeous and had a big swimming area so it wasnt crowded even though there were lots of people there during July 4th weekend. The campground however was the worst camping experience ever!! What they dont tell you on the website is that every 2 campsites have to share water and the electric box. Each electric box has 1 of each 50, 30 and 20 hookups. So if you dont get there 1st you will need a converter or you are out of luck!! No where to buy converter, extension cords or extra hose for water so hope yours is long enough or someone else camping has extra to let you borrow. Camp host was no help... they should at least rent these items out or something. The sites are SOOOO un level!! I have never seen such... they are narrow, short, un level... not clean!! Took us over 3 hours to get our camper situated to be somewhat level and we ended up parking half in the grass/mud so we could get in & out of the camper due to the drop off at the edge of the narrow concrete pad. We have a 28ft Jayco with no slide so not very big and it was tight. We had a fairly big group that met here (5 sites) & we all had issues getting level. 2 of them had to switch spots because they were so un level. Another even went home after a few hours since he didnt have any way to get electricity. Another got stuck only steps away from the dump station which was disgusting!!! Who puts a dump station SOO close to camp sites?? This was all very upsetting after we all drove over 3hrs to get here... and the camp host basically didnt do much anything about any of it. Being 4th of July weekend we had no choice but to stay or just go home. Everything else was booked. When we went to leave on Tuesday we couldnt even get level enough to dump our tanks!!!! I will NEVER go back. And would not recommend this campground to anyone! Now note we did not stay in the horse section. Those sites seemed to be setup perfectly! So if you are camping there you may be fine. Full hookups. Visually the sites were all level & setup nicely for horses.

Amazing hidden treasure amongst KY/TN state parks! Small lake with white, sandy beaches where there are paddle boat and row boat rentals as well as fishing and swimming. Plenty of areas for picnicking and relaxing. Lots of walking trails, horse trails, and biking trails. Great campsites with full hookups and picnic tables and firepits. They also have horse camping. Clean bathhouses. Mini-golf. Campstore. Wi-Fi. Cell phone service (spotty). Washer and dryers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Park manager and ranger are both friendly yet provide a secure environment. Nice lodge with a great restaurant and lodge rooms with a swimming pool as well as private cabins right on the lake! Great place for events, weddings, camping, hiking, boating, swimming, relaxing, retreats, etc.! Lots to do but very peaceful as well! My kids love this place! Oh yeah... They have several playgrounds as well! We have hosted a few weekend retreats here and everyone was quite amazed at how amazing this place is...

My family and I booked a camp site at this venue for 4 nights - July, 2016. The website is very misleading! The camp sites are all un-level. The power is shared with the site next to you - only one 30AMP and one 50AMP service is available. Water is also shared. Some of the power boxes are too far from the site. One member of our party drove 2.5 hours to camp, was unable to get level OR connect to the power box - and left and went home. We requested a refund but got the run-around and it was never issued. The site we stayed on (12) was feet away from the dump station. This was also NOT on the website! It was completely unsanitary, muddy, and dirty. Cigarette butts and trash littered the ground. The bath house was by-far the most disgusting of any camp ground Ive ever stayed. The shower floor was covered in trash, hair, and the drain was clogged. This was an overall miserable experience and we will not return.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and go to have peace and quiet this is the place. If your cell phones been going nuts you need to go here And Get the kids off all the electronic devices . .I wish the golf course would have been a little better but it was early in the season.I loved the little grave site stones on the front 9 . They should be better keep with a metal plaque explaining who they are. That would be a nice touch. Hole 8 needs to just be redone. And the fairways needs grass on the newer side The food was great. country cuisine pimento and cheese sandwiches The catfiish is the best Ive ever had the hush puppies bannan pudding loved it all.

Somewhat challenging to get there,.... sadly, the memorial day weekend made this very unleveled place best for tent campers, and overwhelmed the very small staff who didnt keep the bathrooms cleaned or restocked. Only one washer/dryer outside next to bathroom. The "putput golf" was ancient, though we didnt use anyway. The Lodge was accessible by walking 10 minutes (too steep for most bikers), but the food was mediocre at best. On the bright side, we rented a canoe on the beautiful lake. We left a day early at $ loss, preferring to avoid another painful night there. We wont visit again.

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was as it should be at the park. In good repair. Lake nice to fish. Got up early and we caught 14 bass in 2 hours. Nothing huge, but really fun from our kayaks. Only disappointing thing was breakfast. No full breakfast offered. Crummy continental not worth the effort of driving over for. Bring your own breakfast if staying. Other than that, we really like Pennyrile.

Decent shades spots, but facilities need updated and cleaned! I actually drove 10 miles to buy bleach cleaner because the shower stalls were covered in mildew! (Ive stayed at many campgrounds and never cleaned one!) The staff answered every question we asked with "I dont really know...". Not much to do in the area. I will definitely drive a few more miles and go to Land Between the Lakes next time!

I can only comment on the public beach, but it is great! The bathrooms were clean. Actually the entire beach was clean. Its a family friendly place and we had a blast swimming. The water is actually very clean for lake water, and there was lots of shade to escape to if we needed it. The canoe, kayak and paddle boat rental looked fun, but we were not there for that. We will definitely be back!
