I went to "On The Border" (5:00 pm.) with a dear girl friend of mine and thought I was treating her to some R&R; drink, food, girl conversation. We were basically ignored. I requested to sit on the Patio because Feb 20th happened to be a very nice day. The waitress never came back to the table after serving our initial order to ask if we were okay...if we wanted to order another drink..... how was the drinks...etc. I asked her to leave a menu because we may order dinner later and that menu sat right there at the table, I guess she didnt see it as she was being so attentive to the other table. We had to ask other wait staff for additional salsa and napkins. She did not even ask if we were ready to check out until after I went and asked to speak to a manager. I was seriously tempted to leave. Trust me she would not have noticed. The manager gave me his card after profusely apologizing and asking what could he do to make it better. Why should I have to say what he should do to make it better. First of all he should have automatically picked up the check and he should have sent a different waitress to the table to ask if we needed anything to make our visit better. I probably wont go back because he did not indicate to me that he actually cared about my business. Customer oriented businesses should be very conscious of who patronizes them. You never know who might be at your establishment, therefore everyone should recieve the same level of good service. Ashton, seriously you should find another line of work.

Brett, Daryl at On the Border on North Rock has always been an excellent, attentive server each time Ive been there. Im certain if he was training someone, he was allowing her to perform as trained, which translated to being a great host, as you stated in your review. As the more experienced server, common sense says he is going to take the larger group rather than leave it to her. Apparently, his training was of benefit to her or you wouldnt have liked her service. Considering your review sounds a bit autocratic in nature, Ill take it with grain of salt. Speaking in terms of quality of food, On the Border is competitive in the American-Mexican or "Tex-Mex" as some call it. They offer a good selection, for each party in my family from the two-year old to the thirty-year old. Personally, I love the fish tacos. Yum! The appeal of the restaurant and food is nice. Ive there more than a few times, and each time, the restaurant, tables, and floor are clean and well-kept. With said two-year old in tow, Ive found that I have to make more trips to the restroom than I like, and those are clean as well. The service each time, whether I have Daryl or another server, is excellent. Ive never had to look around to find someone to refill my drink or ask for more chips or salsa. They notice, ask, and serve attentively. Come to think of it, their service is better than some of the trendier and more upscale restaurants that Ive been in. That speaks volume to those who train the servers. ;-)

Terrible experience! When our party of three walked in the door for lunch, the hosts were too busy talking to each other to greet us and ask questions. Then I spoke up and asked for a booth for three. Without saying anything, the host grabbed menus and took us to a booth that was clearly dirty and just laid or menus over the salsa piles on the table. We all looked at each other in shock and the host walked away. We took our menus, wiped them off, and moved to the next booth over. Then we waited 15 minutes before being greeted by our server. She was cold and seemed annoyed. A little while later, she brought our food and the food slid off my plate onto the table and all she said was sorry. After we were all finished eating, we sat another 15 minutes waiting for our check. She dropped it on the table and then walked away. Then she was too busy setting up for a party of 20 next to us to notice that we were ready. We waited another 10 minutes and she never came back, so we left exact change in the book and left. Worst dining experience I have ever had anywhere!

Had a waiter named Daryl at the one at 1930 N. Rock Road, on the east side of Wichita. I am a 23-year-old male, who came with my 21-year-old girlfriend. Next to our table was a much larger group, and our waiter catered to their every need, but stopped at our table about 5 times total. I realize that he was going to make a much heftier tip on that table, but that is no excuse for being rude to us and not even acknowledging us half as much. I generally tip very large to offset the stereotype that people my age lack the funds to tip well. I respect anyone in the restaurant business because I appreciate the amount of work they put in, and this was just ridiculous. I rarely write reviews about places, and this OTB is generally pretty good, but this was a bad experience. He was training a younger girl how to be a server (it was her first night), and she was a much better host than he was.

The food was bland and overpriced. To start off with I ordered the street tacos, which is 3 three small sized tacos to which you pick either steak or chicken. I picked steak and assumed that for over 12 bucks I would get something more than just three tacos that were smaller than my fist, maybe some of the oddly flavored rice and corn combo or a smattering of diarrhea esque beans, boy was I wrong. I had to order my cilantro lime rice on the side, which was another dollar more. This was also bland, Ive had better at Chipotle. My fiance ordered the ranch enchiladas, which came with steak, not that you could see that on the plate. We were not asked how we wanted our steak cooked and it came out dry and overcooked. Thank goodness we had a gift card, otherwise I would have been very upset paying 40 dollars for this meal. The food was terrible and we will never return.

Ive never been to a restaurant so well organized. I get something different every time I go in, and am still being suprised with the wide selection. The Margaritas are delicious, and the extra shot for only 99¢ is always a plus! Ive been coming in for several months now, and there have been many things added to the menu that I love. The staff is always so friendly and never ceases to amaze me. Every time I walk in, I get greeted with a big smile from a blonde handsome young man and a warming, "Welcome to On the Border! Its great to see you again, Rich!" The management team is also always engaged with the customers and employees. I will continue coming to On the Border for a long time, Ive always had a great experience.

I was expecting a nice fat shredded beef chimichanga with sour cream guacamole lettuce I got a skinny little ground beef burrito, nothing else but cheese on top no lettuce and tomatoes nothing it was just mediocre at best. I could have got something like that Taco Bell for a third of the price. Apparently they dont even have shredded beef there anymore. The sopapillas were just not what they should be like crunchy but soft they werent deep fried at all they were just not great. Im severely disappointed that I spent any money at this place. I will never ever go back.
