The food was awful and the service was even worse. We ordered fried chicken which was so heavy with grease the waitress offered to get the owner. When the owner never came I went to pay the bill and asked why she never came. The girl stated that the owner didnt want to, that chicken is supposed to be that way. I was agast so I insisted to speak with the owner then. She came over- I told her of my concern. She arrogantly said " HOW ABOUT i TAKE THE BILL AND YOU NEVER COME BACK" I could not believe someone had the nerve to treat paying customers in such a manner. My husband went home sick and could not eat the remaining chicken. He actually came down with food poisening. The doctor at the ER said that often restraunts have old fried chicken that they drop in the fryer and call it fresh--which results in super greasy chicken and food poisening in this case. This was arrogance at its greatest in that the owner seemed to feel they dont need new clientel or to even keep old ones. Never go there unless you want to watch the staff watch football and fight in the kitchen..ya --they did that too!! Owners Ken and Linda McDonald apply their more than twenty years in food service to provide the tastiest chicken fried steaks, whole catfish, fried chicken, grilled or breaded pork chops, a different soup each day, homemade pies, and a variety of other menu items- all at reasonable prices and served by a courteous and efficient staff.

This is a review of several visits. The chicken fried steak is usually better than anywhere else in Topeka. Chicken is great too. The prime rib was not as good as it sounds. Its one of the few places left that has home cooked food. Had a cinnamon roll that was out of this world. It may not look the fanciest in town but the food is good. If this place were music, Id say its old school & you just dont find that as much. I will return again & again. I have to drive to get there & I do because its good. I was taken there by my parents, went as an adult, & have taken my now adult sons.

A great place good food cooked like your grandmama was back in the kitchen cooking. A great place for a family outing right by the interstate easy to get back on the interstate after eating a great meal you can season yourself not overly seasoned They even have a small appetite meals for the kids or parents. So much on the menus to choose from specials, and pies and cakes for dessert. Oh and big cinnamon rolls and breakfast all hrs they are open. Except on some Friday and Saturday nights.cozy and comfortable place to eat.you feel very welcome every time you walk through the door.

This place is usually pretty decent. I would have given four stars just based on there chicken but the last couple times we were in there they delivered burnt fried mushrooms and just said sorry and walked away. I got there Salmon Steak and couldnt even cut it. The waitress even had a problem refilling our drinks with only a half dozen people. She looked straight at us, empty drinks on table edge and sat down to roll silverware. I will update if things get better.

Chickadee is a wonderful place to get delicious Homestyle food. We ate there tonight they have homemade potato chips salad garlic bread and hamburger steak that was cooked just the way I ordered it and everyone is so wonderful and friendly

You walk in and automatically realize how dirty this establishment is. If your 80 years old and love nursing home/cafeteria food then you will be in heaven. How they gonna charge $10.00 for toast & eggs with no flavor. White people crazy

The food took a long time to come out and cost $8.50 for a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The patty on my bacon cheeseburger was about the size I would get from McDonalds and my server didnt come by very often.

I am a coffee drinker I want my cup kept full which doesnt happen here if u ask for sugar its like u are asking for gold.the food taste has improved some but the Customer service is lacking
